  • Every summer since I quit my job to become a full time UA-camr we have taken a big family summer trip. The last two years we went out to the Wild West but this year we decided to go to an area of the country we have never gone. This year we are heading north and in this episode we are headed thru Kentucky, Ohio, Michigan, and Pennsylvania to go to some awesome destinations like. Annie Oakley's grave site, Greenfield Village Museum and The Henry Ford Museum in Detroit, and we also see The Great Lakes.

@@SleeperdudeAn intresting family fact in my family. My great Grandfather used to deliver mail with Charles Lindberg.
My great grandparents owned the land connected to the St Luis International airport. Which the airport bought their land and incorporated it into what's there now. My grandmother was born at the end of where their longest runway is now. Charles used to deliver mail and take my great Grandfather with him. My great grandparents would let Charlie stay the night when the weather was bad and when he was to tired to go on. Over the many years they became very close friends. I just like to tell the story because in away it keeps the story alive. I'm on my last leg and my adult kids don't understand the significance of Charles Lindbergh, his life and that relationship to him. My family took that same trip back in 1980. Before we went to Germany for 3 yrs my parents bought a cust van and drove thst similar route. I was only 7 so I just remember highlighting or the White House, where the declaration was signed. Running my finger on the Liberty Bell crack after the sign said Do not touch. Things like that. Great memories. Great video Cory Thank you

I'm 57 years old and became disabled 5 years ago and there's no way I could do as much walking as you guys do, and you are seeing things that I've always wanted to see or didn't know I wanted to see. And you let me experience it with you and your family. I know it's nothing like experiencing it in person but at least I still get to see it. thank you very much. God bless you and your family.

Josh’s enthusiasm is infectious, he gets as excited or more excited than the kids. The Ford village museum was fantastic. I worked on a shut down in the Ford plant in Oakville ,Ontario back in the 70’s. They were replacing the bakery ovens in the plant. Our work started on a Sunday morning, they had shut down the ovens on the last shift on the Friday. The work area above the ovens was still over a hundred degrees by Sunday morning. Looking forward to the rest of this family adventure. I’m pretty sure you are going to be getting one or two sheep in the coming months. Thanks for bringing us all along.👍👍🇨🇦

Little known fact, for those who are not from Southeastern Michigan, the outside border of the Henry Ford/Greenfield village is one of the many Ford proving grounds. They have a speed track there, a brake testing facility and multiple other things, and 15 miles from there is what's known as the River Rouge plant, which also has tours, but you will see a lot of Ford motor company insignias all over the place bordering Greenfield village..

By the time the second plane hit so many people were trying to get in line the server couldn’t keep up.

So moving that big equipment was done with steel rollers ans either mules or later tractors. An old friend of mine was a mining engineer and in one instant they had to move in a huge machine into a building with the piece needing to go into a square hole. It was winter so he flooded the floor and hole with water then opened the doors froze the water, then pushed the machine into place. When the ice melted the machine settled into place.Just a piece of forgotten history. Thanks for sharing your trip.

Detroit died because of white flight, mismanaged city & Wayne County government, AND ABOVE ALL, EXCESSIVE UNION RULES & WAGES CONCEDED DURING ECONOMIC GOOD TIME, LABOR STRIKES. These concessions were UNSUSTAINABLE in economic downturns coupled with the Oil Embargo and continued higher energy prices. This required a drastic change in automobiles such as the small Mustang II & the Chrysler "K" car, etc. The demographic shift AND NEW CITY GOVERMENT POWER GRAB did NOT plan for Detroit's future. Crime & Drugs took over; and, the city was a ghost town at night for the white collar workers there during the day.
A Democratic town, Mayor Coleman Young called Republican Ronald Reagan "Prune Face" before Reagan was elected president. Adjacent Windsor Canada was totally different, a tale of two cities.

He'd throw a big BBQ the last weekend in July and have his antique tractor club members driving some his old tractors around his ten acre homestead. They even had plowing contests to see who could drive straightest and deepest. The highlight was the steam tractor. Very cool.

Along with that I've really enjoyed seeing some of the places you've gone to that I haven't had the opportunity to go to. Thank you so much for sharing. I truly appreciate it. I'm looking forward to seeing the videos coming up. Be safe and take care. I'll see you later.

As a fan of the channel and born and raised in Cincinnati, here are some fun facts and a small story about some things you saw passing through.
    Fun Fact 1.
The hotel you saw just before leaving Kentucky is really cool, it's just a normal hotel but the top of it is actually a restaurant known as the Revolving Restaurant. It is open to anyone. As you are waiting/eating your meal the restaurant slowly revolves, I believe taking about an hour to make one revolution.
    Fun Fact 2
The houses you saw are normally single family but sometimes multi-family houses. Depending on how the internal doorways are set up, you can sometimes see the back of the house normally the kitchen. As you are standing in the front of the house normally the living room. There's also a middle room which is normally the dining room. All the bedrooms are on the second and sometimes the third floor. Depending on when the house was built the bathroom was typically on the second floor and a steep narrow staircase to get there.
    Fun Fact 3
Traders World is indeed a flea market with booths both in/outdoors open year-round, super fun to go to if you enjoy them.
    Fun Fact 4/Story
The large Jesus statue you saw in front of the Solid Rock Church is the new one. The old one actually has a song written about it called Big Butter Jesus by Haywood Banks (I recommend listening to it for a good laugh if you have never heard it linked below). The reason a new reason the new one came about was June 2010 Big Butter Jesus aka Touchdown Jesus, was struck by lighting and burned to the steel frame. Why you ask? It was made completely out of foam. Google a picture of it and you will understand even more. Here's the link to the song with Haywood singing it. Enjoy!! ua-cam.com/video/XWF8_rZnwLA/v-deo.html
I outside of all of that I suggest you making a visit to Cincinati for a days we have lots to do and see here depending on the time of year you visit.

Josh aka sleeperdude. I wanted to let you know how much you have helped me understand everything on cars. What each part is and how it's put in the engine. You made the video very entertaining. The only thing I will never understand is the PCI's and the impeccable knowledge that you are able to remember the specs and pressure etc for most engines. Also the years it was put out. I can never and will never remember any of that or understand it. When I had my car (93 Chevy Cavalier Z-24.) I wanted to know how to fix the thing myself. So I didn't have to take it to the garage. But know one would help me understand the in's and outs. Well it's too late for my car. But maybe I can help somebody else's.
That hotel that's round is by me. Just a few streets over from me. The restaurant is on top and it spins around.

Ford Motor Company was a economic engine of innovation & growth for Sotheastern Michigan. It made sense that he worked for Thomas Edison as an Engineer before inventing his gasoline powered Quadricycle. While he did many great things, his greatest contribution was the mass production, assembly line. This company built the blue collar, affordable Model T. In 1908, the car cost $850. It came in any color you liked, AS LONG AS IT WAS BLACK. He gave mobility to the world, almost as glorious as Prometheus giving fire to humanity.
