Thank you! I really try to make sure I’m honest but also I do not think there are really any “bad” curriculums out there. Just because it didn’t work for us, doesn’t mean it won’t work beautifully for another child or family :)
I’ve tried a lot of similar reading curriculum. I ended up quitting what you are using now and worked with a reading therapist that guided us to use All About Reading, slightly modified.
Ah these are my favorite videos to watch!! You're such an inspiration! I love how you do the projects and the fun things in the curriculum with your kids! I want to do those things too even though I'm not naturally bent that way.
11:08 I do dictionary “copy work”, I’ll select 3 grade-appropriate words for my older kid to put in alphabetical order & then just copy the definitions. My younger kid will pick 1 of those 3 words & do the same. HOWEVER, I love your take on this with an encyclopedia. I see how they’re practicing grammar with this too.
When it comes to the booster cards in tgtb, my son didn't like them either. So, I decided to try an activity along with it. Whenever he would say a page of words or sentence correctly. I'd have fish toys or cars set up, and he'd get to catch a fish or race a car for every page that he completed without fuss. Now, he loves doing the booster cards and asked to do them everyday! A huge win!
As I mentioned in this video, we actually ended up not having the time to get into it this year. Lightning Literature took us up until a month or two ago to finish. So I do not have an opinion on it.
I don’t like the booster cards I think the words were to hard an it went way to quickly. We watch lots of blending videos on UA-cam and listen to the letter sounds over an over . That has seemed to help the most
My super independent daughter wasn’t into Playing Preschool and then I had the same issue with my son that you had with your daughter. He’s way ahead of the content in Playing Preschool so I couldn’t use it. Again. 😑
Thanks for your reviews! I love how you describe your thoughts and experiences without putting down a curriculum. It’s helpful and uplifting.

Such a fantastic year. Happy homeschooling. You are amazing y’all
Thank you! You too!
Sounds like all about reading is best fit for your son. You can reuse it for your other kids too

This was super helpful!
I’m glad! Thanks for watching!
What did you think about Writers in Residence after trying it out? I didn’t find any updates.
