- This is our plan to cook and eat our way from Newport Oregon to Boston Mass on Hwy 20, the longest US highway. Twenty eight stops, thirteen states and over three thousand miles. see where we plan to stop, the towns we will visit and the road we will travel.

I’ve noticed that US Route 20 spends the vast majority of its journey paralleling toll roads between Rockford & Boston.

I don't consider US 20 the longest highway in the country. Highway are high-speed roads that run through rural areas or in urban areas they are limited access high-speed freeways. They are not city streets with traffic light intersections, crosswalks and school zones, and crossing gaurds. US 20 is a route across America that is sometimes a highway and sometimes city streets. The longest highway in America is either I-80 or I-90 interstate highways that are limited access high-speed divided highways for their entire length across the country.
Toll roads on I-80?
In the summer of 2006, we were doing our last military move from Worcester Mass to Oregon Coast, husband has 1 child and I am towing a brand new pop- up camper I have 1 child & 2 dogs with me in our other car, I will say I hated the drive but we got to see some interesting landmarks,, this took us 10 days to drive across since we had the 2 kids who wanted to enjoy every place we ended at, this wasn't our first move cross country but we did move from Boston - Seattle in 91 and again Seattle 92 to Cape Cod , we have lived on the east coast from 92-2006, I hate moving and driving so much.Since my husband was from Massachusetts he picked the Rt 20.
