So knowing she was under threat but already dying , she chose to go out on her own terms. There were quite a few point sin her tenure where I disliked her character or thought she didn't deserve the directorship. But I respected the guts to choose death standing instead of the slow creep of cancer in a bed somewhere.
@@jonnyb70 right. Ducky didn't even tell Gibbs until her autopsy was done. but Gibbs SUSPECTED something was up regarding her .... when Shepard had Ducky (and Abby) run a few labs on her (without Abby's knowledge) a few episodes prior to her death by shootout.
