Hi Tom! I have been a ham for over 60 years, but have not been active for about 40. I also just made a couple of videos about sort of starting from scratch. The digital modes still sort of scare me, but now I can get on 2m and talk with the local hams. On HF, I only hear people one or 2 thousand miles away. I really don't have a shack, but I have the water heater room and my corner in the living room. Welcome to ham radio! Sue, LA0CY
well if you have somthing to place the radio on, you have a shack. a very god start for me on the digital wold was DMR. but it was a high but fun learning curve. don't be afraid of digital modes, if you are not quite sure what to do, you can always ask, and it's probably also a very good idea to contact a local club that can help you understand it. 73 and god luck on the digital platform. it's well worth it.
Well done Tom, always nice to see how people start out on the air and witness their enthusiasm. Keep working in the CW, it's very well worth the effort. Tim - G0WBR
Congrats Tom! I got my first HF radio yesterday, same as yours but i need the antenna and power supply now. Lots of extra goodies you have. Morten is awesome. Good luck with it all. Don, VK1DON
