    This is most likely old news to most but my ClubCar Turf II Carry All kept getting trash in the carb causing the needle to stay open and flooding the oil sump as well and saturating the air filter which was located lower than the carb. After many times I finally realized that there is an atmospheric opening from outside the carb direct to the bowl that allows gas to move freely in the bowl "as well as unfortunately " allows trash to suck in through the atmospheric vent while running in dusty conditions. I installed a fuel filter on that atmospheric vent so trash couldn't be drawn directly into the bowl and never had a problem since. Well of course, I did this after many carb cleanings, air filter replacements, fuel filter replacements, fuel pump replacements before the light came on that trash had to be coming in from somewhere else. Atmospheric vent was the culprit, at least in my case.

    What A-Whole designed this ----comment -----{love it!}I had a Grand jeep Cherokee with a bad fan relay, I went to our Chrysler dealership for the part and asked the guy to pull up the diagram , of where it was located. .He asked his mechanic of the replacement procedure. I had to loosen the front bumper and drop it down on one side ,Take the passenger side headlight assembly out , then use a whole saw bit to bore a hole just big enough to get an extension with a socket on to reach the bolt, there was no way otherwise, that is how we do it here ,he told me.Yep he was right , I changed the relay.

    Kevin, love your videos and associated commentary talking about whet you are doing and your tips. You put a lot of personal effort into each cart you fix. What I would love to hear you talk about is your service fee you charge for the work your perform. It would give viewers a guideline of what we would pay or what we would save if we perform our own work. Keep the videos coming, very enjoyable.

      Thank you for the feedback! I don't like to discuss the costs involved with the work I do on here since the price can vary based on multiple factors. Some of these factors include, but are not limited to: the issue itself, the difficulty of disassembly and reassembly and the cost savings will depend on the skill level of the person performing the repair. Prices can range widely from one cart to another for the same repair depending some of these factors.

    Hello Kevin I commend you and all these great videos with great commentary. I have a question I have a club car carryall gas. I have a little mechanic experience and I’m having an issue with my fuel making into the engine.
    I swapped out the fuel pump and carb for a new one. But I’ve noticed that my fuel filter does not fill up the gas. Gas does not make it from the tank to the carb.
    In your expert opinion what do you think that will be? Thanks I’m advance.

    Oops; just see this video is a year old video! Your running commentary is great, whatever topic you choose! You likely did this without mentioning it; but do you routinely check the inside of the fuel tank for crap anytime you find debris in the carb?

    Kevin a huge thank you for your videos. They have helped me work on a cart I just purchased. As for the issue you are resolving in this video. My line of thinking, and maybe way off, if the engine is filling with gas the float (needle) is not shutting off the fuel supply causing an overflow condition into the carb and cylinder. I think the piece of junk you found on the and of the needle was the culprit. I cannot understand how a fuel pump could to this unless it was pumping too much pressure? Could a bad pump cause fuel to run into the crankcase via the suction/pump line?

    • @Kevinsgolfcarts
      @Kevinsgolfcarts  4 роки тому +1

      Correct, the debris in the carb caused the float valve to stick open allowing fuel to drain into the crankcase. The fuel pumps on golf carts only have 1-3psi of pressure. They work off the vacuum of the engine. If a diaphragm is bad in a fuel pump, its possible for it to cause the crankcase to fill with gas. If this were the case, the pump would not work at all. Its more common for the carb to be the cause.

    Thanks for your reply Kevin, also I am fitting a fuel gauge to my 2010 precedent, and wanting to know how to remove the varnish and other staining crap from the fuel tank?
    And wanting to know how to check and reset the governor as I think it’s been tampered with. Cheers from Australia 🇦🇺

    • @Kevinsgolfcarts
      @Kevinsgolfcarts  6 років тому +2

      I usually remove the tank from the cart, drain it and wipe down the inside. Its much easier for me to do it this way but you can still do this while the tank is installed. I have a microfiber cloth attached to a long piece of steel rod that allows me to get inside the tank to wipe it all down. After I get all of the debris and gas out, I put a little bit of fresh gas (petrol) in, maybe a few ounces (mL), and shake the tank around. it helps to break up some of the varnish that has built up internally. I wipe it out again with a clean cloth, reinstall it in the cart and fill it back up. As for the governor, Club Car has a procedure for properly setting the governor, assuming the governor hasn't failed. If it has failed, you won't be able to set it to its correct speed. You can do a google search for the procedure. its quite lengthy to type into a UA-cam comment.

    Question: since our administration refuses to purchase non ethanol fuel, will this crappy fuel also deteriorate the rubber fuel lines/? thankyou in advance :) mark

    • @Kevinsgolfcarts
      @Kevinsgolfcarts  Рік тому

      I'm seeing issues with the ethanol fuels causing some issues with certain rubber lines. A lot of people have started switching over to those clear vinyl tubings, but I'm not a fan of those. The vinyl line gets real hard and brittle in a few years. I would try to make it a 2-4 year service to replace all of the fuel lines if you are having issues. With the newer carts, the fuel line has to be rated for at least 60psi for the fuel injection systems. Another dumb idea since they add very little efficiency to these small engines.

      You might have a broken accelerator cable or throttle cable. There are 2 cables, one from the pedal to the governor and one from the governor to the carb. Be sure both are working when you step on the pedal. If not, they are out of adjustment or broken.

    • @Kevinsgolfcarts
      @Kevinsgolfcarts  6 років тому +2

      One thing to keep in mind with these types of fuel pumps is, they are designed to pump a low volume of fuel and a very low head pressure. I would check the vacuum line and see if its blocked. Sometimes oil will build up on the inside of the hose running from the crankcase to the pump and cause a blockage. There is also a brass mess air filter on the front of the pump. This sometimes can become blocked and cause the pump to have reduced performance. Be sure that the fuel lines are not hard and brittle. This can cause the fuel pump to lose suction and draw in air.

  • @deaconirby4455
    @deaconirby4455 5 років тому

    Kevin, I have a 290 that filled with gas. After fuel pump and oil change X2 it will run. Now after 3-4 laps around the yard it starts to smoke alot. Could the muffler had a gas/oil mixture pushed into it? 1996 DS with horizontal muffler.

    • @Kevinsgolfcarts
      @Kevinsgolfcarts  5 років тому

      Its very possible that oil and gas are just burning off from inside the exhaust. You said you changed the oil? Make sure you didn't overfill it. If you overfill these engines with oil, they will smoke a lot. I would remove and clean the carb, if you haven't already. The float valve sticks on these and gas starts to overflow into the engine and fill up the crank case. In some cases, I've changed fuel lines since they can degrade and make it into the carb.
