    Nicely done. I agree that leather is the answer. I just ordered my first Bianchi black widow holster.

    Today i get Bianchi Piranha 77 leather holster for my Glock 17 gen5 9x19 and i was surprised..leather is so thick and well stiched. I can compare this holster with more expensive Galco models. Great holster!

    I’ve discarded every holster that doesn’t remain open without the handgun being inside of it. I think it is very bad form to have to use my support hand to try and open the mouth of the holster so I can reholster the weapon, not to mention the possibility of the muzzle sweeping my hand while I am trying to perform that procedure. I would suggest that in addition to the main criteria you outlined at the start that you add remain open without the weapon being inside of the holster.

    The actual 3 functions an acceptable holster must display (according to Col Cooper) are:
    Retains weapon through full somersault, facilitates one-handed reholstering and accidental discharge in holster strikes ground no more than 24" behind shooter's heel.
    Old school, still working for me.

    Received my Bianchi 19L holster today for my Clock 20 Gen 4 . Retention strap too short if you use the Med and large grip inserts will not snap. Love this holster but it will not button 1/4” short.

    Look into 1791 holsters. I have 2 one in black and one in vintage color for my Glock 43X. Very good leather holsters. God Bless.

    I've used Bianchi products for nearly 40 years. I have other holsters as well, but Bianchi has always been #1 for me.

    Yes for appendix or any iwb carry leather holsters are the best for comfort. Plastic holsters like Bravo are the #1 reason most people stop carrying - they are not comfortable when you carry a lot.

    Im skinny and conceal a full size 1911 in an alien gear cloak tuck. Been about a year and i have no complaints. I have 3for different guns but only carry the 1911. If i need to carry a subcompact i use a home made tuckable leather at 3:30-4:00.

      Looking for a video on the 126gls. I'm tired of having to factor in the cost of a holster with every pistol I get. Would like one good holster with locking system that can fit all pistols of similar size. Hopefully at most I'll only need to ever by 2 more holsters - full size, subcompact.

    The model 101 looks like a really cool idea, does seem like it would be difficult to revo later though. I have a black point tactical holster that integrates leather and kydex it’s a very comfortable holster. I haven’t carried owb in a long time though.

  • @snek9353
    @snek9353 3 роки тому +1

    The Model 82 has been my EDC for a very long time, love the thing. I'll have to check out that 101 though. These days I go in and out of non-permissive environments more.
    I'd like to challenge/question you on a few things though.
    1) I've found concealment isn't that big of an issue, certainly not anymore. So I don't really sweat it except when cheating in a non-permissive location. My typical setup is the 82 over a tucked shirt for comfort covered by a loose open shirt. Pretty much how you are in the vid.
    2) I think it's VERY important to carry in the same manor as often as is practical. When surprised you'll go for what you're used to, if you're more accustom to carrying appendix but are carrying strong side you're likely to reach for appendix.
    3) Appendix is IMO much more vulnerable to physical attack. It's easy to pin the draw, impossible to rotate away, etc.

    • @knownstranger6186
      @knownstranger6186 3 роки тому

      That’s why you don’t let anyone get in between your cautionary gap. Most if not everyone’s draw to first shot is faster carrying appendix vs strong side. Basically it boils down to comfort

    • @snek9353
      @snek9353 3 роки тому

      @@knownstranger6186 Ehhh, I don't think either one of those are real.
      How do you prevent someone from getting "in between your cautionary gap"? I'm not sure what you mean by that but I'm assuming it's like your bubble. If someone wants to get in there and you can't stop them then there they are. What are you going to shoot everyone that enters your "cautionary gap"?
      Draw to first shot is only faster with appendix if that first shot isn't from a hip/retention position. Too many people only train the draw, hands together, push out, fire. IMO we need to train, clear holster, level gun, fire from hip/retention. From a 3 O-clock position it's very fast to simply rotate the gun up out of the holster and fire from the hip. But yeah it can be almost as good from appendix, however it requires rotating your body away instead of being square on.

    • @knownstranger6186
      @knownstranger6186 3 роки тому

      @@snek9353 exactly. Don’t let people in your bubble! You can’t prevent everyone but when you suspect someone of doing something shady you’re not going to let them in your bubble near as easy as say a friend or family member. Personally and a lot of video data show drawing and first shot from appendix is always faster regardless shooting from the hip/retention, thumb/pectoral position or any position really. May not be the case for you or everyone.
      Edit: Also, I do agree. Once your standard draw is routine and you put consistent shots on target definitely branch out and practice different scenarios. Everyone should train multiple ways of drawing/shooting mechanics, not just one way.

    • @snek9353
      @snek9353 3 роки тому

      @@knownstranger6186 Well sure not "near as easy" but there's a lot of situations in life, particularly the life of a man, where it can't be avoided. People are going to get in your face when upset, if attacked by an empty handed assailant you can't lawfully do much to prevent it. The law expects you to fight fair, it's dumb, but that's what it is.
      Point me towards a video of quick draw hip shooting from appendix. I've never seen one.

    • @snek9353
      @snek9353 3 роки тому

      @@knownstranger6186 The ideal position for draw would be at your waist about 1:30 OWB with the muzzle forward at about a 45 deg angle. But in many other aspects that's not a good carry position.
      There's three other problems with appendix I haven't brought up yet...
      1) It's always IWB.
      2) Concealment requires a closed garment that's harder to clear.
      3) It doesn't work well with larger guns.

Just look into their products, I know you won't be disappointed. Full Kydex around the side arm, horse hyde against the body. I absolutely love the Ky-brid
