Honestly this is one of the rare games that I would actually consider playing without a HUD because it is just THAT cinematic Every. Single. Time. Like I still can't believe how good this game looks on an engine that was discontinued like 3 years ago. Imagine how much better it would look on UE5 or something. Your intro literally has the same vibes as the BF1 intro with the trench wars. I don't know if that was what you were aiming at but it's so sick.
I called this as my GOTY back at its launch in Feb. It’s nearly October, and that’s still the case. And I say that as long time gamer who has seen the strongest year ever (imo) of game releases. THIS is truly phenomenal game design.
Can confirm, No HUD is the way. So many tricks make it more than viable. The Destroyers point north and make a useful compass. All helmet comms are directional. You can pick divers out by sound. It's possible to triangulate voice comms and the Destroyer compass to navigate the battle. From there, it's easy to bind your hud to a mouse button or key. If there's a situation where you don't want to sandbag, just flick the HUD, check to make sure you're reinforcing the right person in the right place, flick the HUD back off and get back to work.
@thedudeabides3138 nice. Yeah I've been actively searching for other no hud challenge players who also record. My dream is to get 4 players to drop their hud, record from 4 angles, and cut it together to make Helldivers, The Movie.
I would say getting some footage with the ever slept on HMG would make for some good ones like a group of berserker coming down and mowing through them
But, muh Commando... How will I instantly wipe out tanks and factories from across the map? Seriously though, it's a good idea. This video unexpectedly blew up (by my standards) and I'm trying to figure out what the follow-up should be, while there's still some momentum. A similar theme but with lesser used weapons and stratagems could be a good one.

By my experience, I meant that I have this loadout pretty much long time since commando appeared. Commando consistently exists in my loadout scheme and never I not bring one.
I remember Tarsh - I was there, testing the living hell out of the new napalm barrage ordinance we'd just been issued. Combined with an orbital artillery barrage at the same time on a large tank depot... the metal carnage was glorious to wade through once the battlefield in the forest, now with a new opening in its canopy to let in the sun and moonlight, had finally gone quiet. Destroyed tanks (both already there and dropped in as reinforcements) everywhere, the ground littered with broken bots, the scorched and cratered earth illuminated by the moonlight. Best part was, it was nice and quiet. Nothing but the walls were left of the base. And we were still standing. Felt like true victory... and it was so sweet
One of my first ever drops into an automaton world, we landed right next to a patrol. Barely made it out of the pods before they started blasting. Had to fight like hell the moment our feet touched solid ground.
Yep, that's the rocket launcher from Commando and it's called... the Commando. Four laser-guided missiles, then throw it away and call in another. Unfortunately, it's been nerfed (perhaps rightly) since I recorded this and now does half the damage. Still fun to use though. You should jump back in. The game's in a much better state now and they've added a ton of new things since April.
How dare you make good videos showing the helldivers 2 as it is? Don't you know you can't have fun in this game because the flamethrower doesn't kill Charger in the leg in 3 seconds.
People running frantically. That's what I remember. Everyone was running scared, hearing blaster shots fly past our heads as we all ran from the cold soulless steel that hunted us. People who were ahead were getting shot. How I somehow ran untouched will forever baffle me. But I remember a explosion. Ringing my ears. Forcing me to fly sideways before hitting the ground. The dirt in my scrapes and the taste of my busted lip as I rubbed any dirt out of my eyes. Seeing the red glow hanging over me as I loathe what is to come. I look up where I laid. The gargantuan machine, staring into my soul, did it crave to have one? Could it even understand the concept of life? Emotion? Standing on all fours as it let out a deafening call. I remember clamping my hands against my ears as I heard it. Laying there as I watched both barrels face me. The laser sightings were set directly on me. But then I heard it. Like the sky was being torn open. The giant mechanical beast looked up, and I followed. A flaming bullet rained down. Before either me or the machine could react, what I thought to be a firery bullet, had screwed straight through the head of the giant, severing it completely. As the the iron monster collapsed and grew limp. A rising light risen up to replace it. Standing there looking at me. Extending their hand to me. I took it with inspiration. We weren't being hunted. It was the Soulless Steel that was Prey.
My best moment was when i had to sacrifice myself i looked at my team and said “i may not live but the enemy wont either” and i just tried to john wayne that mf running full speed in the middle of a horde. everyone on the mic telling me its not worth it and i got kids at home to see 😂i called every airstrike and orbital in on myself while i spraying them down as much i could with the stalwart on max rpm. I really regret not recording one of my recent gameplays. I was in a game with no respawn tickets left, and I was the only one alive, fresh from a respawn. We were fighting Automatons. We were unable to take out a Gunship Fab and so up to 8 were present at a time, and then they all turned on me. I had no weapons to take them out at that moment, cuz I lost my AutoCannon after dying elsewhere. And so I had to bide some time for the AC cooldown to reach 0. Luckily I was right next to a somewhat thick patch of trees, bushes, and rocks. I ran around them for two minutes straight, managing to dodge lasers and rockets from 8 Gunships until I could call down my AC and kill them all. Two minutes of hell, where the trees were my friends. I was going to give up at that point cuz we emptied our respawn tickets pretty early, but we managed to tough it out and extract anyway. Only this game gives you that genuine action movie hero feel.

That’s definitely what they were going for, and I love it lol. The bugs are very much so like the bugs of starship troopers, and the Automatons give off a Skynet - Terminator vibe. The newest faction just released these last few days of me posting this comment, the Illuminate, resemble the Protoss of StarCraft. . @@JohnnyWallop Bro, cloud gaming is popular nowadays, i think it would be interesting idea for videos, to compare the most popular cloud gaming services!
Helldivers - Heroes of Super Earth, like the ones you see here in this video - Fighting their way across the galaxy and doing their part in the fight for Liberty, Freedom and Managed Democracy. What's your excuse? Enlist today!
nice to be able to still run while typing in your strats on console. on my pc i use wasd for both and have to stop temporarily to put them in. ive gotten very quick at my call in while diving lol
Re-assign the stratagem input to your arrow keys. Makes you so much quicker (and more versatile).
ahh the pre-commando nerf, good times
The memories bring a tear to my eye...
What outfits are you using for every clip? Interested cause they look drippy.
Fire video, is there a specific playlist you use for music like this?
Thanks! Yeah, the playlist is 'whatever video game soundtracks I have floating around on my hard drive'.
In this case I used tracks from Dawn of War.
Awesome video I’m a small content creator and I’ve been inspired todo a similar video format You’re awesome keep up the great work ❤
@@ARC_Tiny Thanks very much, I appreciate it!
War is scary..... I wish to play this
I want to see more of this. I’d also be happy to play with you any time ❤❤❤
I would direct a Helldivers movie
So... whats more cinematic with this than any other gameplay?
What's the soundtrack/music? Worked out well for the footage :)
@@Vik-711 Both tracks are from Dawn of War, the old 40k RTS game. Just felt like they had the right vibe.
BOT DIVERS!!!!
Imagine this game as a Star Wars (1-3) mod. It would be the best Star Wars game ever made.
Join the Butlerian Cihad!!!
Where do you find people who stick together like that?
I just got lucky with randoms. Every so often it happens, and that's when I get the best footage.
the background music is so familiar yet the name eludes me. what is it? Dawn of War?
Good ear, it is indeed Dawn of War. I got really tired of usual bot music.
Imagine a terminator future wars mod with this engine. It would perfectly suit.
Yo you put a ton of effort into editing this and I gotta give you some clout for that 🤟🏾
For the bots I listen to Star Trek: First Contact movie soundtrack. Its not just you wars fans that have been hosed. Us Trekkies can't catch a break either.
Nice, good shout. It's good to change it up every now and then. I can only listen to the bot music so many times...
I’ll be back on the lines soon.
I lost my leg during battle and all of my friends. I knew my only chance was to get back to the extraction ship. It took an eternity but at the end I was able to reach it. Those bastards, I realized, killed the pilot. With no sense of honor they cut his throat open from behind. so I had to fly a ship I‘ve never flown before bleeding out with one leg gone. I nearly died that day. Nevertheless I will be back on the lines when I‘m able to. For managed democracy!!!
what is a principal weapon please ?
Cookout incendiary shotgun
It’s like watching terminator
That’s definitely what they were going for, and I love it lol. The bugs are very much so like the bugs of starship troopers, and the Automatons give off a Skynet - Terminator vibe.
The newest faction just released these last few days of me posting this comment, the Illuminate, resemble the Protoss of StarCraft.
.
Everywhere you go, it’s cinematic and it’s like living out one of these fantasy war movies / games. Whether it’s the blood red deserts of Hellmire fighting against Bugs, or the thick jungles of Malevon Creek raging against the dying of a million lights flashing from the barrels of the Automatons, or the dense urban landscape of Genesis Prime fighting the onslaught of Zombie hordes and Goliath sized squids in flying saucers powered by lightning.
Everything is a movie in the game lol.
Are you playing on pc?
@@kawancaetano2931 This is all PS5. Probably should've put that in the description.
