Thanks so much for watching! I hope you found this video on how to choose a pen name for authors helpful. Be sure to find me over on Instagram & TikTok, so we can connect there as well!
Your videos have the best information. Thank you for taking the time. I am an introvert myself and haven't written due to the fear of being "the center of attention" :D , but this gives me hope to finish all my unfinished work . :)
Hi Eevy! I’ve chosen a nice pen name for my books. First, my main character has approximately the same name, just with another starting letter 😂. Next, it’s a rare name, and there was a real woman with the same name and last name who immigrated to the US in 1920s. However, I was a little confused when writing my bio, which is not really mine. I mean, it’s kind of the bio I’ve always wanted to have, but not really mine. Moreover, I got stuck with creating the Author’s page coz I don’t know 🤷♀️ what to do about the photo. I don’t promote my books simply because I don’t know whose photo to download for the Author’s page. Could you help with the issue please?
Because we are writing for children, something that is quite accepted in this genre is to simply use an illustration instead of an actual photo. So perhaps you could commission your illustrator to create an illustration of you. When it comes to writing our author bio, most authors still stick to their actual biography, even if they are using a pen name. I so hope this helps!
Your video was helpful however I have some questions. Is there anything you need to do to make your own name legally yours? Or by simply choosing a name & entering it in Amazon along with your work, does that solidify it? Or is there more to it than that?
I'm so happy you've found this helpful! As far as pen names go, there won't be anything else that is required, mainly because the actual KDP account is set up under our legal name. I so hope this helps.
@ruwaniravinkumar5945 0 seconds ago Hi Eevi, Your videos are very helpful for first time authors. Thank you so much for sharing your expertise and skills with us. What do you think about having the company name instead of a pen name?
I'm so happy to hear this! Especially for children's books (and also for personal branding purposes), using an actual name (even if it's "just" a pen name) is always better than using a company name as our author name. What you could do instead is use your company name as your imprint. I went ahead and copied the link to my video on just that for you below. I so hope this helps! ua-cam.com/video/hJx0iMVUmPw/v-deo.html
