Resin heats up as it cures. The Copic marker details likely evaporated because you added such a thick layer after. If you try a thinner layer like the one on your test pieces you should be fine!
Yeah I was thinking it was because such a thick layer caused the problem as well. the test ones worked cause it was a lot thinner. it still turned out looking so pretty though~
I didn't test it myself but that's what I trought too. °^° A tinier layer will perhaps worked better. ^^ It's a pitty that everithings didn't turn out okay, but it was a first time after all, and mistakes can appended all the time. Well even so, it turn out pretty cute, I think. :3
Ya thats what i was thinking she could have just added a thin layer then wait for it to cure and then add a thick layer and that wont affect the Coptic marker
I really respect you for admitting when things don't go according to plan, and opening up about what went wrong. My daughter watches you, and by you being vulnerable about the fails as well as showing your wins, it helps her to see that even the artists she looks up to aren't perfect. Keep being awesome ♥
So I recommend doing thinner layers with the resin, I have done large resin projects before and got really concerned when you did a thick layer since in my experience too thick of a layer and resin can yellow, which I am very glad that didn't happen to you here. Liquid resin produces heat when curing, so your markers probably got messed up on the thick layer due to the heat and large chemical reaction. if you were to use copics on a resin project like this I'd recommend doing a thin layer before doing a thicker layer. It's still a very nice piece.
for the 1st try it looks amazing, I love the mermaid... for the next try I would love to see u try painting on more layers... I think (if I remember the video correctly) nerdforge actually added details after details in multiple layers, so if u loose details just add a layers and add them again :) at least thats how I would do it... also I can't believe how expensive Resin is in Japan... I live in Germany and definitely pay maybe half the price for, probably, the same amount... I, for one, did not mind the camera angle if it means u get better quality in the painting :D
I'm inclined to agree with this take...I think the key for this kind of project would be thinner layers of resin, and more of them...that way you can have the flat colors on a different layer from the shading, and the finer details on a different layer from that etc. I still think the final piece was lovely, though, and it was very cool to see it come together!
That is basically the idea yes. This sort of art within the resin is supposed to give a 3D effect. So while i already commented this separately, the jellyfish and the mermaid should have been their own layers. All the small details she added also should have been their own layers. But people who aren't versed with using Resin don't realise how time consuming it is with his curing time. So if Minori only had a week to make, film and edit that's not enough time. It would take weeks to do the art and layers properly to begin with, and would likely take a good week to edit all that filming down to her normal length video.
@@DandisDen this is true. In any case, I still maintain that she should have used thinner layers of resin…I felt the ones she was pouring were a lot thicker than what she needed, but that probably would not have lowered the cure time by much.
@@bardicfeline8360 Oh 100%. I agree with you there. Also, UV resin is also NOT meant for a project like this, at least not on that scale. Chloe Rose Art did it in UV and you can see why its not. It warped, and didn't properly cure, and was just a horrible mess. The art she did looked fantastic, and she did it right, just she should've used AB resin, not UV. I admit when Chloe pulled out the UV resin, i died a little on the inside.
Hey, I love this video.. I work with resin a lot as I make tumblers and other projects. 1st thing please invest in a respirator and nitrile gloves!!! 2nd you can use your paint pens you just missed a step. When you paint over epoxy you need to seal it we all use rustoloum clear spray add a few coats before adding the next layer of resin. If you want any other tips just holla x
Love this design! I have a lil tip for if you use resin again ☝🏻 When making a large layer, the resin heats up pretty significantly, which is probably why your details washed out. My tip is to work in small layers, and you only have to wait 12 hours to pour another layer if you’re not painting on it 🤘🏻
@@chaoticfrog8097 sister I myself am an Asian and I know that mostly Asian woman are really not too tall but I meant it as a compliment like. She is so cute and pretty like a doll. But yeah sorry if it offend anyone 😅
Maybe using acrylics over the dried poscas instead of the copics? I’m not sure but that’s such a cool project though!!!! And real bubbles sort of make it match the theme so it’s not the worst outcome!!! ❤️
This was still amazing, I love the 3d resin art people are making. Your mermaid was super cute/beautiful! Her hair was definitely a good length and style! If you try it again, for example, you could try doing a layer just for the jellyfish and for some bubbles etc, then do a new layer and do the girl on top, since you wanted her sitting on the jellyfish. It might turn out pretty neat that way.
I'm so happy you posted again and I don't mind that the canera angle is bad and I live how it turned out, also I hope your arms don't hurt for how many times you had to lift that up, it looks really heavy and thick as well, oh and I wanted to ask if you could do some art project with like tanjiro and nezuko or anything related with demon slayer bc I finally turned 13 and watched it and I love it! So I want you to do an art project about it 😊
Minori, u r so extremely talented. Even when u think u have messed up...it still comes out so beautiful 😍....I love this mermaid resin art. Beautiful 😍
I love it!💕Despite the colors fading and the wiggly lines inside( they actually gives it the water ripple effect) I would love to see more resin are and layers in the resin too.
You did really well on the resin art for a first time. A few critics that i've got, is the jellyfish and the mermaid should have been separate layers, and the details of the tail should have been its own layer. The point of the resin art like this, is to get a 3D effect. That's why many small layers are required.
I LOVED THIS!!! 💕The mermaid looks so adorable!!! The colours, concept, and art look amazing as always. The texture really adds to the underwater look. Great job Minori!!!💕💕💕💕
Hi Minori! I loved this video...🥰🥰I am loving your resin art more than any of your videos !? Will LOVE...to see you doing this again and yup! I felt sad when you said that not only b/c of your hard work but also b/c of the time & effort you put into it.. Not to mention the cost. If you want I think using some flakes of silver or gold (prefferably silver) would look awesome in your next try using resin. I think of dimension & texture. I would love to see you try this again, I actually really love your results! I know you were disappointed in your details disappearing, but be proud that you did something so inspiring and cool!!

The result turned out pretty cute, but I think maybe next time you could try making more layers of drawing between thinner layers of resin. You could've had one layer for background bubbles, then a layer with rocks or sand, then the jellyfish, and the mermaid's hair, then the mermaid, and maybe one more layer for additionnal bubbles, algae etc. Thinner layers allow you to repaint details if they vanish, and to have more control over the little bubbles in the resin.
