Great podcast, I'm so loving your Guthrie! Thanks for taking the time to discuss your experience with your projects, I really appreciate that...especially the mixing of sizes in a pattern to get the right result. That was especially helpful to me! I understand what you mean about the zen of knitting. Several times I have had to rip back on a project, sometimes extensively and I have learned to do my ripping back right away, then just put that project aside for a couple of days or so before returning to it. It seems to give me peace and makes the project feel almost new when I return to it so that I'm not distressed from having had to rip back. I would much rather fix a mistake, even if it takes a lot of effort, than ignore it or abandon the project. Besides, I look at that as just another knitting lesson. Barbara😍
Thank you! I'm glad the mixing of sizes chat was helpful! I couldn't agree more with giving projects a bit of a break to get excited about returning to them. I also would rather fix my mistakes and swapping projects gives me the motivation to do it! Happy Knitting!
Thanks so much Ruth! When I picked it up, I forgot how light it was! I can now see why you have knit a couple :) Also, thanks so much for watching and commenting. It means a lot!
There are things called color-catchers that will keep the blue from bleeding onto your lighter yarn. You might find it at the supermarket with the laundry products or, if not, in a yarn store.
You have convinced me to make a Guthrie sweater. Yours is gorgeous. You mentioned that you are working on knitting for your degree. I'm curious as to what degree you are doing with your knitting.
Thank you! I've been really enjoying the process of knitting the Guthrie sweater - you should do it too! :) I'm doing my masters in computer science. The focus of my degree isn't knitting, but I've managed to include it in my research! My research is about evaluating how people use software to edit knitting patterns. I'm actually just about to release my study to the public in the next couple of weeks and will be making a video on it :)
Thanks for asking! Unfortunately I have to keep my research question a secret for now. I know, I'm no fun! I'm planning to release my user study through my youtube channel and to get accurate results, I can't let people know what I am studying. I can share the questions once I am done the study in a month or so! Perhaps I'll chat about it in my June podcast episode! I'll write a comment here once I can chat about it :)
Thank you! No I didn't! That's a good point - I wonder if it would have made a difference with my gauge. I'll have to measure my sweater's gauge and see if it is different than my swatch! I typically don't swatch in the round as I don't like to cut yarn :P I like being able to unravel a swatch and use the yarn if I need it!
Very nice video! I appreciated your math on the guage/size conversion.
Thank you Linda! Appreciate it :)

The grey yarn you chose for the cumulus looks really nice knit up! It will be a beautiful garment when finished!

I’m a newbie to your channel. Love your style!❤🇨🇦
Welcome!! And thank you!

Oh no way! That's a great idea, thank you. I'd be curious to try it out and see how it works! I'll keep that in mind next time I'm in the supermarket.
Try using the mohair with the dark color. I would lighten up the dark color.
Oo that's a pretty idea!

How interesting! I love that you have been able to include knitting in your studies.
Just came across your blog. I’m very interested in your masters journey. What is your research question? 😊

Just found your podcast and very much enjoyed. I am wondering about your swatch.....did you swatch in round?

@@katknits no need to cut, just leave long lengths hanging on back side. I leave attached to skein for washing.
@@debbies8023 Oh not sure why I didn't think about that! Thanks! I'll have to give it a try next time I knit a swatch :)
