  • This film was created by a group of Year 5 and 6 pupils at Ffaldau Primary School to promote their local area of Pontycymer. Pontycymer is a small village in the Garw Valley and is situated in the Bridgend county. The children were keen to advertise the positive aspects of Pontycymer. The opening and closing credits quote the well-known Welsh hymn, 'Calon Lan', which was written in the valley. The opening words translate roughly as 'a pure heart is full of goodness' which mirrors the children's views about the place where they live - Pontycymer being the heart of the Garw Valley. Please share our film!

This is the second production made by the Ffaldau shool children that I have played, and enjoyed. Although I mainly attended Tymeinwr junior school, I did attend Ffandau for a few months in the fifties,, and made new friends from further down the valley in advance of secondary modern. this film brings back fond memories.
    Kind regards, Roger Evans.

Thank you for such a lovely video. My close friend left London to live in Pontycymer as it was so peaceful and beautiful.
He sent me so many amazing pictures. I was planning on visiting there this summer, but unfortunately he passed away last February while visiting Scotland. I see how he could fall in love with your village. Visiting Wales is a goal I still have and hope to fulfill it someday...😊🌻✌

This was good but please do not feel like you have to move away from your own village.
You the youth can make it a greater place as you grow up.
I have happily grown up in Pontycymer and yes even went to ffaldau for a bit from 2000 - 2003 before I had due change schools due to my special needs.
Moved to Pontycymer on the first friday of the new millennium in 2000 and have stayed put for the past 19 years and probably will be here even longer.
