This is a recipe loosely based on Italian Stromboli which is a type of pizza roll.
To be an authentic Stromboli, you need to use Italian meats, and the pizza sauce is NOT inside the pizza roll.... you dip your Stromboli into the sauce as you eat it.
The method is same, fill with fresh ingredients and roll, and bake.
This recipe uses my authentic yeast dough pizza recipe.

Thank you for yet another wonderful recipe! I was really nervous about making this one. I've always been told that bread was a difficult thing to make, but you made it so easy. I made one for my family using your dough, and pizza sauce, along with bacon and cheddar cheese and it was divine! Thank you again so very much!

Hi Angie, a great question ! Ok first off, if you go to a local pizza joint, that is not a franchise, they will usually be using a dough made the day before, why ? well because when the dough is allowed to do a slow ferment in the fridge, the flavors really start to build up. You could leave that dough for a good 3 days. I have used 5 day pizza dough ( on purpose ) this gives the dough a REALLY sour dough taste, something I love. However, you really want to use it up within 2 days........

You are such an inspiration, Chef. I used your dough recipe and made a pizza roll using leftover roasted chicken, sautéed onions, mushrooms and pineapple. I made a cornstarch and chicken broth white sauce ... Oh, Yum ! ! !

Yes, thanks for noticing that. Leave it for several days in the fridge, ( slow ferment ) and you have an amazing base for a sour dough bread. I always like to keep my pizza doughs in the fridge overnight, the flavs really develop. All good pizzerias around my area will never use pizza dough they made that day, pizzas made that day, always use dough that was made the day before. Thanks for watching Chemeleon15 !

Are you familiar with the Nic-a-Boli, a VERY popular beach pizza place in Delaware. It's what you made. They put ground beef, mozzarella, some sauce, and pepperoni in theirs.

I see it now, I read and re-read that a few times before posting, can't believe I put the p before the "s" LOL. I was going to pull the video and correct it, but it's just too much work to do that. ..... part 2 of my response..... what **I** do very often, is this, I make 4 pizza doughs at a time, and I put them in the freezer. I will make the dough, split them up and pop them into my little containers, then keep them in the fridge until I go to bed, I open the containers and punch them down ( remove the gas build up in the doughs ) pop the lids back on, then into the FREEZER they go ! , when you want a dough just bring it out in the morning and it's perfect by dinner time ! .......

........ part 3 ......... -- Freezing does NOT kill the yeast in the dough, so don't worry. Just don't zap your dough ( microwave it ) to thaw it ! ... just leave it on the counter, and let nature do its thing, the dough will be perfect hours later, I do this all-the-time. And to answer your lat question, no it wasn't a voiceover, but I DID remove all my "alrighty" words at the beginning of each step ! I realized just how many times I did that ! and it's quite annoying ! so I removed them :-)

***** Hi Delphine, sure thing.... make them, and freeze them. Then, when you want to bake them, let them thaw on your baking tray, and then right into the oven.

Never had any luck with yeast. Doesn't matter the weather, it won't work for me. : (

    • @BakeLikeAPro
      @BakeLikeAPro  9 років тому

Donna Angus Hi Donna, invest in a little thermometer, it will change your life when making yeast doughs. There are only 2 reasons for yeast not working.
1 - the water you used was too hot ( over 115 degrees F ) and it killed the yeast. ( and it will kill it )
2 - the yeast you used was dead.
a possible 3 - you added so much salt in direct contact with your yeast, that the salt killed the yeast.
      a possible 4 - you didn't add any sugar.
Yeast needs food, and that would be sugar. It eats the sugar, and Co2 gas is created, and also yeast multiplication.
If you don't add sugar, there is really no food for the yeast to feed on and it won't work correctly.
If you used good yeast, and used sugar, then there is only one thing left that can be the culprit
and that is your water temp.
by the way - if your water is COLD, yeast doesn't like that either.
A good temp I used - 110 degrees F. A great temp where you will never kill the yeast.
I'm positive it's one of those.
