  • Flying an ILS approach to Nassau, Bahamas, I tested the Yaesu FTA-750L with Glide slope and Localizer. Works pretty well if the reception is not too weak. Don't expect the internal antenna to be as good as the ones outside the plane. I would buy that radio again, although the handling is quite fiddling and really could be enhanced.

    So you were perfect on the glideslope, but had a little trouble maintaining centerline? Or was the glideslope not working on that radio?

      Glideslope is the left and right markers. There is no bar as for the centerline. You can compare that with the built in AI on the left. Is quite accurate if you are bot too far away.

    when landing on the ils, the glide path is not induced. Do you know what could be the reason?

      Glide path is shown not in the center but to the right and left (small arrows)

    Is this required to stay upright for the navigation to work properly?

    I love this radio!! I still haven't tested it in flight though. Does anyone know if in terms to have the CDI display the freq of the VOR needs to be dialed in the COM window? I don't want it to "detect VORs"(like they say in the manual), I want it to detect THE VOR that I use in my navigation.. thanks for any tip!

    Great Thing ! Is it possible to track needles and use COM and talk to ATC at the same time ?

      If I remember correctly, this should work. But the ILS feature is kind of weak, so I would use it in an (very unlikely) emergency event as a backup information, but would more rely on any GPS based solution to do sort of RNAV, if my panel is dark.

    Are you satisfied with the transceiver? Pros and cons?

    • @rowitech

      I am, would buy the same, even some years later. But firmware could have an upgrade, Yaesu seems to not doing anything new here. Handling especially in flight is a bit awful. As an emergency radio top.

      Which one could you recommend instead of this Yeasu?

    • @rowitech
      @rowitech  4 роки тому

      Niezadzierzy The icom one would also work, I guess, but I didn’t try it. If you just need a cheap cheap backup radio, you might find what you need with aircraft spruce.
