    I want them to put the new line-of-sight scanning system from CQC into the main game, making asteroid fields much more interesting to fight in.

    • @Scouto
      @Scouto 9 років тому +3

      +Ross Balmer Me too! I'm told it's something they are very interesting in doing as long as it doesn't break the way the main game works. *fingers crossed*

    • @MeTheOneth
      @MeTheOneth 9 років тому +1

      +Ross Balmer Perhaps they could make it an alternate sensor module with advantages that might make it worth it, like less weight or power consumption, or longer range. Maybe it could scan a whole hell of a lot faster, but needs line of sight at all times. Possibilities, yo.

    • @Scouto
      @Scouto 9 років тому

      +Anezay I actually had the same thought a few days ago, like having a passive/visual scanner working as it does in CQC, and the more expensive scanners tracking heat signatures as well. It would make the Silent Running feature even more interesting.

    • @fforrestfunkk
      @fforrestfunkk 9 років тому

      +Nebulocity yeah me too. Yesterday I fired it up again for the first time in like 6 months, but as it turns out Frontier or AMD or both have fucked something up so my framerate jumps happily between 250 fps and 15 frames. unplayable. Well ok I give it another 6 months before eventually returning. :(

    • @MrMeddyman
      @MrMeddyman 9 років тому

      fforrestfunkk
      I've started playing in Empire territory. The strating Eravate/LHS 13337 zones have too many players in them which makes the game super laggy.

    • @fforrestfunkk
      @fforrestfunkk 9 років тому

      +MrMeddyman thats not the problem. I played in solo. The thing is, that something is really buged in Supercruise. When jumping in a system I get about 200 fps while fuel scooping, then I just let it be and change nothing (I stay still (30km/s) and my ship is pointing the same way, so no difference in what to render) and the frames drop out of nowhere to ~20 frames. Then dropping out of SC in normal - frames go up to 200. Reentering SC for a few seconds the frames are still really high and then drop to 20...
      but it seems frontier is aware of this issue and it also seems to be a AMD drivers problem.
      man your profile picture is really creepy :)

    Great video! You actually don't need to stay in silent running the entire time. Just maintain your heat under 20% and that's already considered "Cold" Vultures scanner's wont be able to pick you up beyond 1 km. When you switch on silent running, their detection range goes down to about 500m. You''ll know when silent running has engaged completely after 4 seconds or when you start generating heat, thats when your radiator vents fully close. If they're facing you and you're at a good distance to fall out of their scanner, engage silent running, then close in. Once you open fire, you're automatically revealed so no point in staying silent running. Since you're hull tanking, you can survive most ramming, try using that to your advantage. :)

    While it wouldn't have made for a thrilling video you could have easily avoided the whole fight. While the Vulture is a vicious killing machine, it's also quite slow and you could easily have opened the gap by constantly boosting and leaving silent running off once you were 3 kilometers away and out of weapons range.
    Also you greatly overestimate the power of silent running. It's fantastic for obfuscating your identity but it isn't invisibility. At the high temperatures you typically operate at you will be still appear as an unresolved contact on other players scanners even when you are kilometers away from them. Most players will dismiss you as a far-away ship and ignore you, but once they know who you are they don't need to track you visually, they just need to follow the blip on their sensors. That's why Gazeley wasn't fooled by your asteroid occlusion tricks once he or she closed to less than 3 km, they could "see" you through the rocks.
    I recommend ditching your wake scanner for an extra set of heat-sinks so you'll be better prepared for "emergencies" like this in future.
    Oh and congrats on winning that fight. I would have gotten absolutely murdered in your place. :P

      +Legion711 Vulture with SCBs mean no power for anything else. For PVE hires farming, people pick better thrusters for faster NPC kills. Vultures have major power issues, and getting more than 1 SCB onboard without sacrificing too much is undoable. You'd have to be turning subsystems on and off manually, which is not something you want to be doing in a fight.

    Very nice flying. Are you playing with one or multiple screens? I was wondering if the TrackIR works well with just one screen then i might buy one.

    The multicannons knocked out his shield surprisingly quickly, if you ask me. The vulture has TOUGH shields, normally. You could have done a number on that guy.

    Oh and btw +Isinona, for future reference, try targeting the Vulture's powerplant. They are really weak there! Not sure how much the 1.4 update will influence that though.
