I think that because most of the time the footage returns to normal speed (video) and that can't be done using individual pictures. Is this a correct assumption. TIA.

You forgot probably the most important part. Editing. How to make your boring shots look cool. Sure you might say story > Everything, but thats not the case. Its more like Editing = Story. Very good editing can improve a mediocre story and vice versa.
Clayton Estes Editing and Story are the main essential parts to a movie. Forget about the gear. Casey says gear doesn't matter so he shows us what camera to use. lol He should have just focused on how to tell a story and how to incorporate that into editing.
+Chuan Eston The editing only helps the story for those who don't have 6 hours to watch something that tells a story something edited can in 10 seconds! But I agree, Editing is vital to getting the message to the viewer, clearer and better!
BUT... and this is a great video Casey!, once you have that great Story and get how to communicate it in a powerful way... you'll always want to get the gear that removes as many technical obstacles as you possibly can! VanGogh used chunks of coal and sketched on burlap... until he gained access through his brother, to the best pigments available :) ALL the gear in the world won't make anyone a great photographer or story teller, BUT if you're already a great story teller, then great gear enhances that exponentially :) ONE joy of "making it" (well below your level), is having access to top gear :) LOVE YOUR CHANNEL!
"gears doesnt matter" and "story is golden", Wow, im just a new vlogger from the Philippines and i have learned so much from this video today. Thanks Casey for sharing. I only have a smartphone i used in my vlogging and sometimes i feel frustrated if people will watch and love my videos because i dont have the best gears .. But after watching this i believe someday my channel will grow too like yours.
Great video Casey! You've inspired me to do Vlogmas this year and make a vlog every day in December to try find a story to tell each day. I know it's going to be hard work! But will be good for me. and woah that Beme recommend at the end!
+OneEpicJerJer wise advice! sadly youtube don't let you change your url once you set it, and I'm not willing to lose all my subscribers just to change the name! So I'm living with it :) Luckily, my channel name doesn't have any affect on the quality of my content!
+CharliMarieTV Awesome! Good luck on Vlogmas! I am considering giving it a go this year. Also, good-luck on your UA-cam journey! (^_^) I wish you the best! --Katie
Creating a video story is like typing a good story on a computer. At first you're going to get all caught up on the technical bits like what computer to use and what operating system and what the heck is word processing. But in the end, you're going to have to learn to use words to build sentences that follow a theme and tell a story - and figuring out that story is every bit as hard as writing up a truly first rate essay. Most people are going to hate it and give up. The rest are going to put together some really painful to watch videos that will get better with practice. Lots and lots of practice... and rework - just like that essay class that most people hate so much. Stick with it, and you'll get good at it. And then you'll realize you could have written just as good an essay using a pencil and paper from the bin. That is to say, don't buy fancy camera gear until you can tell a good story using just your phone.
+LawrenceEdits im totally jealous... im dreaming for a dslr camera like forever... i dont know how long im gonna save up to get one. canon 70d is my dream dslr😌
MaeShadow™ work hard and you will be able to get at the the end of the day you lay in your bed and you have also maked money! but the oly difference is that you are able to buy what you want ;) I hope this inspires you cuz i am a very laze person but with a big pasion! and also sorry for my bad english haha
+Fraktallity - Inconsistent vlogs I think you can take any shot and if edited well, you could make a story out of it. Or show your surroundings at least. For example, with caseys stuff. When he is at the beach, he will have unfocused/shaky shots, or close up shots of his surroundings. And just from editing those together it shows the viewer the environment he is in. It's a bit elaborate but hopefully that made some sense haha
Priya Pulikkal Yeah I know what you mean. What I mean is you can't take any footage and edit it into something amazing, Editing is my strong point, and I really wish I could just record anything and edit it into something great.
I love to learn from the best. Unfortunately is sometime like watching shows like Dragons Den, Hells Kitchen, etc. It's entertaining and you can learn something, but there is not a lot of actionable information. The nitty gritty details that you need to get jobs done. The Profit does a better job. Hope Casey will be so kind to learn us aspiring UA-camrs how he edits his vlog without editing the tutorial too much.
I'm 17 and i've never flew with a plane. For a country where your average monthly salary is 500$ paying 200$ for a plane ride to a 200km away country doesn't seem normal here
I was also thinking this was sarcasm. This isn't a video you should watch over and over. It's "gear doesn't matter, story does" and that's it. No filmmaking tips or technical details.

BUT... and this is a great video Casey!, once you have that great Story and get how to communicate it in a powerful way... you'll always want to get the gear that removes as many technical obstacles as you possibly can!
"gears doesnt matter" and "story is golden",
Wow, im just a new vlogger from the Philippines and i have learned so much from this video today. Thanks Casey for sharing.
I only have a smartphone i used in my vlogging and sometimes i feel frustrated if people will watch and love my videos because i dont have the best gears .. But after watching this i believe someday my channel will grow too like yours.
FRED_ship Club create create create :) one day you will have the gear that you have been wanting. Best of luck, kabayan!
@@ysshael thank you so much for the encouragement hope you could visit also my videos
Started vlogging with my phone cam alone. You're an inspiration!
Great video Casey! You've inspired me to do Vlogmas this year and make a vlog every day in December to try find a story to tell each day. I know it's going to be hard work! But will be good for me. and woah that Beme recommend at the end!
How to make your channel better:take TV out of your name
+OneEpicJerJer wise advice! sadly youtube don't let you change your url once you set it, and I'm not willing to lose all my subscribers just to change the name! So I'm living with it :) Luckily, my channel name doesn't have any affect on the quality of my content!
+OneEpicJerJer TVFilthy Frank strongly disagrees with your comment
+CharliMarieTV Awesome! Good luck on Vlogmas! I am considering giving it a go this year. Also, good-luck on your UA-cam journey! (^_^) I wish you the best!

Just found this channel a few days ago and i can say you are totally my favourite Casey, love from India!
One of the most precious videos in youtube
The only problem is, how are people going to notice your work?
Constantly post and it just happens without adverting your stuff

I wonder who actually skipped this? :P
+Axel I'd bet money on noone ) Even the 33 that disliked it probably watched to the end.
Sammy Newell Totally agree. :)
+Axel Reverse psychology.
Im curious on the view count at the end of the day.
+MrShadowoftheSon There has been 26,000 since I watched an hour ago. So I'm guessing quite a few!
I love how his videos are, definitely worth watching
I go back and study his older vlogs and films. classic. pre-CA Casey!
hey, from that era as well
It's all about the editing
+Priya Pulikkal You can't fix awful video's with editing. In my opinion: Footage > Editing > Quality
Priya Pulikkal
Yeah I know what you mean. What I mean is you can't take any footage and edit it into something amazing, Editing is my strong point, and I really wish I could just record anything and edit it into something great.
yeah.. i guess its just practise and trying new techniques, whether its filming or editing techniques.
I would say editing is a large part of it.. hmmm not all about it. I can get lost in editing though just tweeking and trying different things.
Nobody asked Michelangelo what kind of paint brushes he used. But in todays world they would, because people don't respect the talent required.
Jim Myers Hardwork*
NOT TALENT.
*hardwork and skill
Talent means nothing
AdsUniverse Bullshit. There will always be talented, hardworking people
That’s deep
Watching this 2nd time. My goal is to watch this over and over again until I master what to do and how to make vlogs . Thank you C. Neistat
never get tired of watching this over and over and over and over and over and over and over ...
I'm thinking about vlogging my trip to Hawaii. First time on a plane
Do it!! Im going to Korea next week for two months and I want to vlog it too haha. Also first time on a plane!
first time on a plane haha what are you 3 years old?
Awesome! You are going to love Hawaii...
I'm 17 and i've never flew with a plane. For a country where your average monthly salary is 500$ paying 200$ for a plane ride to a 200km away country doesn't seem normal here
+ayy its papa no
never trust someone with one watch on each hand...
*NEVER*
What about two on each hand?
Unless his casey

Casey, you're a master of your craft! Thank you for your tips and advice. I feel much more confident producing my own videos now!
Wow this is so helpful! Thank you so much!! I will watch this video over and over!!
Tishawn Fahie sarcastic?
Billion EP Purba not sure what you mean but I'm trying to start my own with zero skills in video film making. This video really is helpful.
yeah i also find this video really helpful. Would be nice to see an updated ones for the cameras tho :)
I was also thinking this was sarcasm. This isn't a video you should watch over and over. It's "gear doesn't matter, story does" and that's it. No filmmaking tips or technical details.
Love your videos!
Story is KING, I am so happy to find out this early in my film making career, thank's Casey 🙏
I've learned SO MANY lessons from this video. End of 2020 and timelessly relevant.
Thank you Casey!
Most motivational video on UA-cam :)
+EinfachPerfekt
Yeah, apparently you don't need money just talent... which is motivational... but you can't buy talent...sooooo....
+Irililike hard work beats talent when talent doesn't work hard
+Worm *IF* not when. why? Ask your teacher.
Worm
I put this up as my new motto!
EinfachPerfekt
Hoffentlich mit richtiger Grammatik.
Preach it! Story is King!

Best explanation ever. Literally helped so much. I personally use the Canon Rebel t3i not the t6i :)
