Yes..It was in Reno and Bobby was playing with our band called "The Rucilez Brothers" Bobby was such a great person and wonderful musician. I miss him very much!
i love the way this song shifts styles back and forth. really takes a good feel to pull it off. the original Bill Monroe version is always my favorite but this is a wonderful version, Tony is amazing of course and this lineup could really kill this kind of classic bluegrass material
Something about knowing tony will be playing Clarence’s d28 is so cool. One year at Merle he played a Santa Cruz with Norman Blake. Sounded great but looked wrong
this is the finest music ever written
this song changed my opinions on bluegrass forever
Love Bobby Hick’s fiddling!
Back in the early 70's when I was playing music steadily, I was in a band with Bobby Hicks. He was a great musician and great guy.
Bobby is the featured fiddler at Mars Hill College Sat Mar. 10, 2018 at 3 pm if you are able to get there. It's where I live in western NC mountains.
Great song. All these guys are masters. Tony Rice being my favorite all time musician, I love hearing these old clips of his.

R.I.P.to Bobby Hicks, one of the greatest bluegrass fiddlers ever.I just heard this on Truegrass[Sirus/XM].I had no idea he was 91 years old.

1:40, yeah!
Jerry Douglas was born with dobro instead of milk bottle!
he actually started on the mando fwiw
Morgan O'Connell yeah okay. Jerry w/o one of greatest dobro players. Only Gosh Greaves equal to him. mosrite60
im assuming this to be around mid to early 80's? bout as good as it gets - thanks
Pre 87 because that's when tony got his nose crookedness fixed
@tayman1519 - 1:40 FOR SURE!! Tony Rice is BOSS!!
As George Jones once sang" Who's Gonna fill their shoes" yes indeed. Cheyenne perhaps written by Kenny Baker? or maybe Bill Munroe. mos60
Written by the man you see on the fiddle - sir Bobby Hicks!!
That dobro solo is smokin' hot. He plays so fast my ears can barely process it.
Great direction! Show those fingers!
Doyle seemed to be the only one keeping his head during the breaks......
Happy bday jd

Too bad the camera director of this performance was so into fingers, and not faces. Personally, I'd rather watch the man, not the hand.
Sorry, but some people are more into fingers then faces I guess. 😕
