What it did was breakout the second leads Cheng Lei and Lu Yu Xiao, and with it reportedly there is anger behind the scenes. Leads Yu Shu Xin and Zhang Ling He reportedly will not talk to Guo Jingming anymore and will not come back for any season 2, not unless he lets them change the script, and he’s definitely not doing that. Yu Shu Xin may be upset but she’s still publicly interacting with Lu Yu Xiao on Weibo whereas Zhang Ling He is pissed and has had zero interaction with Cheng Lei since the drama aired. So those hoping for a season 2 should be prepared for none or likely a lead cast switch to make it happen.
I swear to god that in terms of this couple is the worst and best series ever.. their tension and chemistry was top notch but the fact that they did not even kiss once and she was a mystery until the very end about her real feelings.. ugh how much I suffered. Good to know that things happened between them but like why not even one misserable kiss was shown like come on at some point many of us were watching just beccause of them. Their scenes were breathtaking every time and the fact they almost dissapeared from the middle of the episodes make me think that director might have notice they were really strong as characters. So much that even their ending made me mad. Like was he crying because he realized she was lying until the end and making up stories to make him let her go or was he crying for the news she delivered? also I do not know what to believe since she was selfish until the end and they both pursue their own motives, I do believe he would not let her go if he didn´t get the fire thing himself. The fact that she did not hand it over but he had to steal it also makes me think that he was crying cause she was lying all along. And if yun weishan story didn´t leave an open ending then I would believe shangguan was lying about the news but maybe it is in fact true. Anyway they are commendable for sticking to their duties instead of choosing love because also we know for a fact that he had feelings for her but did not follow her or tried to make her stay so, they are both as strong. If there is another season I wish we can see a lot more of them, including their first kiss in the bathtub.

Aside from the fact that their story had more tension, their character were also stronger than the main leads. Shanguan Qian was a rank higher than the female lead, and Gong Shang Jue was wiser and better in martial arts than the male lead. The main love story was kind of boring because Ziyu would believe anything Yun Weishan would say. 😂 There was no tension. Their scenes were predictable. Unlike the second lead, you would always feel a little nervous. 😂
