Second time I heard it was on NBC's Tonight Show with Jay Leno. Vince & Patty were on the show and Vince was telling the story. This was back when the musical guests actually got a chance to sit in the chair and talk to the host of the show. The story was hillarious back then and it's still hillarious now!

I've seen Vince Gill over the years on TV along with a lot of other C&W artists and I've liked him.Moving on the best part of 30 years I listen to a lot of different genres including C&W, R&R, BOOGIE WOOGIE, FOLK, ROCK, TRAD.,Up to tonight I wanted to listen to music,, until I listened to Vinces' story of his dad meeting Dolly.The guy is a better comedian than a lot of comedians, with his story telling it's just fantastic.He's not half bad on a guitar either. Now i'm enjoying the story before the music and this just adds to the enjoyment of listening.
