I think this race has ended any hope of Gasly retaining his seat. If he had been on the pace, like a good teammate should be, then Hamilton/Mercedes would never have been able to take their race winning strategy. The team needed Gasly to defend, but he was nowhere.

@@MaverickSpawn Nico a dirty driver? He's just a hard racer whose emotions sometimes got the best of him, like Lewis, vettel, Schumacher, Alonso, every champion has had moments like those. Nico was one of the best drivers of the past decade, and he mostly raced cleanly, and he was still good wheel to wheel, like he was with Lewis. Bahrain 2014 Abu Dhabi 2016 Malaysia 2016 Austria 2015. So don't judge a driver based on a couple of bad moments. Everyone has those

Sebs tires were of course fresher but the soft tires degrade very quickly, he just managed his tires extremely well and deserved that P3.

Vettel didn't have the better strategy, he just did a better job and managed the tyres better.
Thought the same thing. He and the team felt it was worth the risk of trying something different(Charles was certainly on a more conventional strategy that was what was believed to work best) and it worked. Of the WTF1 presenters I do believe Matt is certainly the one most likely to try and downplay anything Vettel does.
The funny thing is that if it was the other way around (and Leclerc wasn't able to overtake Vettel) he would then say that Ferrari left Leclerc out for too long and gave Vettel the better strategy like it happened on other race weekends.
Don't bother lol. Matt is the biggest leclerc fangirl ever
and Vettel lost 3 seconds because to the great pit stop.
Same thing-ish. He managed his tyre well so he opened up the option of another strategy.

Hamilton saying he couldn't keep the pressure on was when he was overcooking his brakes and they were wasting away in a black cloud every time he hit the pedal. Makes sense he can't keep the pressure on when he can't stop the car. ;)
People like to ignore those facts and wave it off as moaning. Not just in this instance, but whenever he gets on the radio. For Lewis it is "damned if you do, damned if you don't".

It was the contact between bottas and Charles that made him drop so many places. And not the contact between him and Hamilton
I always enjoy looking forward to watching these after the race each week, but for some strange reason, I think the Race Rundown is probably my favorite part.
Hamilton in the post-Quali conference asked who was the second Red Bull driver was savage 😂
In the post race press conference he said Red Bull should sign Alonso since they had an empty seat.

12:37 I guess Hamilton meant that he can't follow Verstappen closely. He was clearly faster, but when following his car was just overheating
Yup, that was pretty clear on track. Was quicker but less downforce force to push more. That made tyres hotter and in few dozens of corners advantage was gone. Either drop back, cool off, try again (might not work as more even used tyres, as less speed advantage that would lead to same problem) or... switch cangeroo to using faster tyres and try to catch up and attack before stacking behind. Paid off. If Verstappen somehow would manage to defend 2 attacks on main straight - there would be chance (because of the same issue) for Max to bring home win. But not with fast and full-in mood attack from Louis.
Leclerc should have gotten a penalty for the incident because if it was Lewis....

Unfortunately not but saw it on tv in the after race show, from my point of view and im not an expert clearly it was 70% bottas turning into charles who was taking the racing line and bottas tried to deny him but was late and already behind charles

Thanks for mentioning another fantastic 5th place for Sainz! Oh wait, not a single word... He is a severely under-appreciated driver.
We shouldn't go easy on Gasly. He cost Red Bull the race. They could've used him as a buffer behind Hamilton to gain track position after Hamilton's second stop or split the strategies to get better intel on the life of medium tires. Instead he's a lap down and costing the team crucial points.
Same for Bottas... he was nowhere in a position to help his first driver either. Just as rubbish as Gasley then. Also, Lecrash in another incident, costing Bottas a podium. He definitely was promoted too early to Ferrari. It I were Binotti, I would swap him in summerbreak for Raikonnen.
I think Bottas did pretty good. He made mistakes early, he got overtaken by Hamilton and then stayed out way too long. He was driving 3 laps I think with a damaged front wing. Not entirely his fault though, the team is to blame as well. After that we didn't see him a lot but the merc is notoriously bad at driving in dirty air and it's hard to overtake in Hungary. That's not a good combination. He maybe should have been able to overtake Raikönnen as well but Gasly and Sainz are in fast cars and hard to catch with 2 pit stops.
Not to mention that the entire situation was in no way his fault, Leclerc drove into him. Sure, it was a racing incident and no one is to blame but if someone were it would definitely be Leclerc and not Valteri.
Jack Aitken's playing this really well. He'll have a huge fan base when he gets to F1 from all this WTF1 exposure. I know I'll be supporting him. Seems like a chill guy.

Guys, gotta stop with this 'Ferrari prefers Vettel' BS. Vettel did 1 stop and Leclerc used the strategy that everybody else adopted. Vettel was simply better, he drove for over 40 laps on the same tyres and managed to keep a good distance from Leclerc, and even if Ferrari screwed his pitstop he still got 3rd. That's that. He didn't do like two stops because Ferrari wanted him to get 3rd, he just had a different strategy, and a risky one if you want.

Gasly is not the problem, it's the car. Thats the reason Ric left. There is no way Gasly is so slow that he gets lapped by Verstappen. Ric left because he saw the writing on the wall, all the resources go to Verstappen. This does not happen on any other team on the grid

The only reason they haven't replaced Gasly is because they don't really have a replacement.
First of all, let's be honest, there's a reason both Hamilton and Verstappen have teammates that can't keep up (league of their own).
But I'm not sure Kvyat is actually that much faster and Albon (even though he has the right spirit) still has a lot to learn.
Hamilton genuinely acts like the world is ending if hes not in first. You could hear his team basically telling him to shut it and just race and they were right.

Heksu99 if he didn’t move to the right n didn’t damage his wing initially with Lewis he woulda been fine. He damaged his wing later again a few laps after his stop.
