I think having an experienced climber actually in the tree with a beginner guiding as they go versus just communicating from the ground can make such a huge difference in terms of anxiety, being nervous, etc. as well as being able to provide tips and advice more effectively. Great job!
If I have a chance to work with you sir I love to learn more from you.. from Philippines,, I really love climbing in trees and I learn a lot from your videos.. keep safe and God bless your team
Quintessential verbal teaching skill…only what you need, nothing you don’t-but precisely when you need it. It will give Evan authenticity…During my purchase of your harness we spoke at length…great heart this man has. You pick good ones…!
August, you are a fantastic mentor, giving calm clear instructions, encouraging trust in equipment, and keeping a close eye on everything. Evan did awesome, you could hear his comfort level rise in his voice and breathing . You got way more guts than me!
What an experience for Evan, to get walked thru step by step by a master. He will remember that day for the rest of his life. You are a good man Mr. H😊
I'll be making my first climb next weekend. Im taking a trip to Bartlett Arborist Supply on Friday to get a knee ascender, and a couple other odds and ends. Then my gear setup will be complete. I'm so stoked! I have learned so much from your videos, and I am grateful for you taking the time out of your day, to teach rookies like me.
You guys are freaking incredible! 3 years ago I watched all of your videos because I was learning to climb. Before that I was apart of a forestry company but there were no climbers. Now I’ve got to do jobs that other company’s turn down. Watching Evan definitely reminded me when I first started climbing! Thank you so much for all the time and teaching moments you put out @agustHunicke !
Hi August, this video was an absolute pleasure to watch. I love the camaraderie and the patience, kindness and good humour you all demonstrate. Long may it continue.
Enjoyed the video. Excellent video. The perfect tree. The closeby Mentor. Great ground crew. And a willing and capable new climber. Great job Evan. Nice camera work, August. The best editing. Thanks for sharing this wonderful video.
Hey August, I'm still rockin the monkey beaver saddle. I'm 67 years young and starting my 2nd year in my own tree biz, Mr. Bill's Tree Service LLC. Evan did really well. When I'm not working in trees I'm watching others working in trees. There's always something to be learned. Thanks for sharing.
Hey August you are a great teacher. I wish I had some to teach me I been working for a tree company for 7 months now I drive the bucket truck saw mechanic truck mechanic and been climbing everyday for 7 months. I have great boss and crew but they don't teach me much with climbing just tips here and there. a lot of it is me figuring it out watching you're videos. I always stay tied in twice. Its hard to figure it out but I have gotten a lot better in the last 3 months. Trusting my zig zag my lanyard my saddle. We do a lot of trimming trees here in new mexico so no spikes just a lot of limb walking and pulling you're self up. I love tree work even if its dragging brush and chipping. I love the guys I work with. My worst fear is picking the wrong tie in because we do a lot of cottonwoods and dead elm trees. Stay safe Evan did great. I hope to learn a lot just sucks trying to figure out what I am doing wrong in tree. My boss been doing this 13 years and makes it look easy. Keep making videos helps me learn more. ✌
I'd love to trade places with Evan right now I've self taught myself on tree climbing with the guidance of watching your channel and other channels great to watch 😂 I know how Evans feeling right now stay safe love you guys
What a great video! So many great lessons, well taught and all with such a positive, supportive vibe from you and the crew. A salient reminder of just how easy you pros make it look. Also had an amusingly relevant selection of ads, from Diapers, to Get Exam Ready, to Life Assurance. 😆
Great instruction August, love seeing the knowledge passed on. Kudos to Evan for getting up there. You have a great crew with fun banter. Nice video as well.
WOOHOO... an August video !!!!! Then 6 minutes later and it's over.... Dang your video's go by fast !!! I looked at the minutes after it was over an couldn't believe it was 48 minutes long. I completely know how you feel Evan... but it Does get much better !!! Great job August... it's really hard to just hang out an teach !!! Thank you for you !!! ❤
~~~That was supper cool!!! Well done Evan u had some great coaching and ya really got out on a limb there. I can relate to those moments of fear learning to trust your gear takes time and the whole positioning thing truly is a “balancing act” love how that all went down I was fully entertained~~~ Rock on y’all~~~
Was just texting a week ago with Evan getting my MB Saddle so I can check this off my bucket list. He's fortunate to get mentored by y'all.......I'm jealous 🤣😂🤣
Hell yeah Evan!!!!! Get you some!!! And everything you felt/ feel, everyone has felt that before. Your in really good hands for a mentor and people to learn from. Cool to watch this journey unfold
It's always funny watching a new climber learn, almost like a baby deer learning to walk. The way of the road until you get your footing down. Best of luck to you Evan, with August there you'll get the hang of things in no time.
Hey August, it's great to see the contrast of perspectives in this video! From many years of experience to a first timer. I've experienced much of these same struggles as a newbie with work positioning, and maneuvering around widespread tree canopies as they are very common here. I've tried climbing up etc with just the main tie in like you showed Evan here at one point instead of struggling with the flip line also. When you're rope angle is right and there are places to grip, it seems like the way to go for getting around quicker. It's great that Evan gets these experiences to build his knowledge of not only the work skills, but the perspectives on how the Monkey Beaver products help facilitate that work. Great job!
Hey Evan. I just watched ya all’s last video posted. You were awesome man. I’m just getting started myself, so I know those were some big steps you took. Sure am looking forward to getting my Monkey-Beaver saddle. That will help me a bunch. For now, I am having to use a fall arrest harness. For sure not made for tree work, but keeps me from falling. Look forward to visiting with you soon. Again, a great job man. Lewis McKinney
Not even two minutes in and I'm excited to watch the rest. Great video. It will help other new climbers, help climbers with a little more experience, be able to further describe processes in the canopy needed to get the tree trimmed, removed, or whatever else needs done. Great job.
Having an experienced climber next to you is really invaluable for a new climber! You can hear in his breathing and voice that he's nervous, but having the master next to him gives him the confidence to keep going! Tough job, but excellent experience. Climbing on skinny trunks like that is nerve-wracking for sure until you're settled in and top tied.
I thought this was so cool I definitely envy Evan That opportunity should be cherished After 10 years on the ground, two years ago, I chose to buy some equipment and try it out myself I’ve only had a couple opportunities to climb with experienced climber’s in the same tree When I did do that, I learned so incredibly much But most of all, it help me gain confidence in the canopy Confidence building is key to being able to learn and retain information in my opinion And in a tree with August there’s no better scenario in my opinion Keep up the great work August love the fact that you love passing on your knowledge❤ And good job, Evan🎉
One of your best videos so far! It gives such a good perspective to see an inexperienced climber there with you. And you all seem to be great teachers as well!
That was a cool video. You guys make it look so effortless and smooth all the time. Seeing a beginner really puts the skill and experience you guys have in contrast. Under your care and guidance, and with that positive attitude, he'll be kicking ass soon enough, no doubt.
Awesome team guy’s, having any new man taking on the climbing shows how difficult it is up there. So many things to take on board , physically and mentally. Your expertise and experience shine through in this video. As you share the knowledge that we at home do not normally get to experience, because you make it look so easy. Thank you very much for sharing. Great team all round. Cheers guys from New Zealand.
I've been an instructor, coach, and mentor for decades in a lot of different fields, and here I am today learning more great tips on how to help folks learn new tasks. Great stuff, August!
That new climber is doing a great job, help from the crew,in the trèe and from the ground, well done men. The Canadian is making his mark,love your training men. CLARKIE
Awesome job Evan!! Love these Evan videos, I learn so much from these as his movements are exactly like mine and August and team explain what to do so well. Great thanks to everyone involved in this production!!
It's amazing August that you trained these guys you are an amazing amazing man and arborist I wish I would have learned by somebody like you I learned to climb for about 4 5 months then all the sudden the foreman of my company took off and I was on my own with to ground guys and I pretty much to be honest I know it sounds crazy I learned a lot from UA-cam and a lot from you as well and other tree guys now 17 years later I'm running my own crew and I'm doing good I just wish I would have had somebody like you to guide me at least for a couple months it would have been so much easier for me. God bless stay safe
Can I come climb for ya for a week or 2? I want the mentorship like you give. Been climbing 6 years and love seeing how far I've come and cant wait to see how far I will go. Awesome job helping evan break the barrier of fear. I once heard a saying if you dont do 1 thing a day that you fear or scares you that you aren't really living. Be safe guys! ❤
August: I have never. responded to anything although I watch all the time. I run a Landscape construction design/build business in Oregon and I absolutely love this video. Just incredible the way you have made your rookie climber feel comfortable. You are an amazing teacher and I can surmise from experience that this has something to do with being a dad. So great to see a real man showing others a craft or skill, that takes a lot of time and experience to learn, with the patience and compassion you show here in this video. Quite honestly brought a tear to my eye when I thought about what it takes to train somebody in a selfless manner so that they may get a positive introduction and overcome internal challenges without having to worry about if someone is truly on their side. Bravo to you sir. I really dig what you lay down, but now I am a true fan. Keep up the good work. Rob Walsh.
August you are an excellent teacher! Great job Evan!I know it wasn’t easy but you ad the best teacher and team support while you got to learn the trade!
I have always marveled at you guys, and My own tree guys climbing up my ponderosas and redwoods. Felling the deadstuff. Crazy brave. You got a calming voice. Stay safe.
crazy to see how far Evan is out on the limb over the house doing cuts considering the amount of times hes been in a tree. pretty bad rope angle if youre not used to it so hats off to him!
Just climbed my first tree and I felt just like this I've done lots of rock climbing so I trust the equipment but it's still really scary 🤣 to see you guys who have done it for years just run up the trees blows my mind
Very cool informational video. Having a very scary maple tree being brought down, in a couple of weeks, and I will be watching on how they will do it. I don't have the expertise or balls to do it myself.
August you are an incredible mentor, I'm basically trying to teach myself to climb. What an opportunity it would be to have a good daily mentor to help with the uncertainty.
This is so fun to watch I think because this is what everyone looks and feels like when they start. You’ll get your tree legs soon!
I'm so stoked! I have learned so much from your videos, and I am grateful for you taking the time out of your day, to teach rookies like me.
If you have a handsaw be very fucking deliberate with it. I swear those things can be more dangerous than a chain saw in the hands of a new climber.
@@WMC. I can't count how many times i knicked myself a handsaw when I started climbing and they leave some pretty nasty reminders.
@@readifer silky bites 😉 I’ve had a couple. Not sure if I actually have scars from them but definitely know a few guys who do.
I have the silky 330 xl. I'll try to be careful and not cut myself up to bad lol
Good job Evan! Fortunate dude getting to learn from the best.....I'm jealous. 😆 Thanks MB crew, fun to watch.
As hard as it was for Evan, this was super informative for lots of people and a ton of fun for the rest of us. Thanks August and crew. 😂
I would just like to say this guy was so patient. Congratulations on your climb.
Well done Evan! I appreciate the video August and MB crew.
Good to see you back in the tree August!
What a great experience. Very cool Evan! You did awesome. Stay safe
simple things like a shed roof... I nicked my beautiful teuflberger climbing line on the sharp edge of my friends roof after four days of solo rigging a dead oak off of her roof. just that split second of contact with the old metal roof and I now had two rigging lines instead of a climbing line. It was cut deep enough that I had to cut it. It sure is nice the way you and the guys are kind to Evan. Right on.
Great job Evan and great teaching August.
Helluva job Evan, way to face your fears buddy!
Congratulations Evan, that could not have been easy for you but you had excellent guidance.
Got a good laugh out of that tiny rig. When he asked if he should bear hug it. I would’ve snap cut it. Experience will come for him in time. Wish my mentor was as great a teacher. All right all right all right. Doing awesome bud.
I'm having problems spiking down the tree can you show me some tips with red woods
I remember when my dad taught me like this I felt so bad but now I'm a solid climber. Thanks dad for all your patience
That’s awesome and how videos should be! I’ve been climbing for 40 years on and off and unless it’s a spar I still look like that! 😁👍🏼
Awesome to see you and crew teaching new climbers
Good Work August I love your coaching
Just climbed my first tree and I felt just like this I've done lots of rock climbing so I trust the equipment but it's still really scary 🤣 to see you guys who have done it for years just run up the trees blows my mind
