For the first one, Religion! There are a lot of Christian couples that are absolutely miserable, but stay together because Divorce is seen as a terrible sin. There's likely other factors, such as the Husband being to scared of losing everything in the Divorce. The system heavily favors Women, and their word is worth a lot more even with an evident truth. I mean, I read a story where a woman abandoned her son for 15yrs to flee with a new boyfriend to another country. The Judge gave her custody because "She's the kids mom". She didn't even know who the kid's father was!

I get the feeling that the profession attracts people who want to play savior, and as a result, ends up releasing that negativity onto their family, and/or they ignore or even enable the abuse going on at home to keep up an image. Most physical abuse cases are from people in positions of physical power like police officers.Mental abuse comes from people in positions which give you power over someone's mental health.Kinda see how that works,when you always have power over someone during work it tends to carry over into your personal life

I feel for the cousin in the first story. I get that she suffered so much loss with her two lost angel children. I can’t even IMAGINE the pain. However, that does not mean she can act like this, acting like she should get the baby. And the mother did NOT help.
Second story: same thing happened and I never forgave my mom. She is in denial and it hurts her too. When she died we never worked it out. And I still regret that. She wasn’t able to see it or protect you and she feels like she failed. Reach out when you’re ready.
