  • This video demonstrates the wing deice boot cycle for Citation V and Ultra aircraft. These aircraft use pneumatic boots on their main wings and horizontal stabilizer for ice protection.

    Have you ever had ice accumulation because of inflating the boots too soon or too late?

      No, I've never seen any issues like that. The manual technically says to wait for ice to accumulate before blowing the boots, but I've never heard of an aircraft crashing because the pilot blew the boots too soon. When I'm flying, I cycle the boots whenever I see ice of any significance building up regardless of how long it's been since the last cycle. This technique has worked well in every booted aircraft I've ever flown.
