@@Splendid_Lad Yup, nothing wrong with that. I'd be happier if Toyota didn't go the "German" route with sealed (or semi-sealed) transmissions and kept the dipstick.
@@Splendid_Lad That's the entire class though, its the best seller because of name recognition and brand loyalty. Objectively, the newer competition is mo betta.
It's the best seller because everyone thinks they are so reliable. Wait not that Toyota is being forced to "get with the times" with all new powertrains! Yes and we all know about the Tundra DISASTER! Totally NO quality control at Toyota ether!

My biggest issue with the RAV4 as is the case with all Toyotas is that the steering column is not high enough, I always bump my knees during ingress and egress from the vehicle. Additionally, the cabin feels tight (I'm 6ft, 230) where as the CRV just seems roomier and no steering column issues
I wouldn’t be able to take solid hard plastic on the driver’s door armrest. Even though this is a rugged trim, I don’t think anyone would want that. How much would it cost Toyota for a little strip of cushioning?
I rented one of these a few years ago and apparently it has not changed since. I hated it. The engine had plenty of power for the way I drive but the thing was very noisy and very uncomfortable including getting in and out of it. It also felt a bit unstable or squirrely on the highway.
My 24 TRD Off Road does not have the Stop/Start Button, but I have seen it on other 2024 RAV4 models - any idea why some have models and others do not? I would have not bought it with the Stop/Start button. Mind came with crappy Falken 01A Tires, which are not Severe Snow Rated. After getting stuck in the snow, we replaced them with real Falken 100H tires which are Severe Snow Rated and have a much deeper tread. Still no increase in road noise.
First time viewer your attitude is very positive and contagious. A few things : If you’re reviewing a vehicle without noting a specific trim, your title is fine. Unfortunately you’re in the rare adventure trd off road edition. It was nice to see the cosmetic changes. I don’t think you can call this vehicle “old”. 4Runner has entered the chat. I really won think think this belongs off road. Your non pavement dirt roads maybe lol. The vehicle is noisy. But for me personally the other features make it worth it. Think loaded XSE. I bought a loaded XSE Hybrid and it will be my daily for a very long time.
We have a 2021 Rav4 Prime. Great electric range and quiet around town. But it is the NOISIEST car I have ever been in once at highway speeds. Even in all electric mode. And once the engine kicks in, even worse. Interior is cheap.
This thing desperately needs a new generation redesign. It got surpassed a few years ago by everyone else. The road noise is literally awful (even on street tires), the interior is one of the cheapest feeling in this day and age and it just oozes unrefinement. Reliable, yes. It should be, but you sacrifice so much for it. That's not enough anymore in 2024 Toyota, and this is coming from a former worker of yours.
I’ve been at Toyota guy forever. Went to go look at one for my wife and they had the cheapest interior ever. Very plastic and not well put together or refined. I don’t doubt it would be reliable, but it just felt really cheap overall. Went to look at a CX 5 the other day and it was much better quality. I hear the CRV is much more refined too.
Reliable? Yes but getting really old and not refined that’s why I went with the CRV hybrid. Sure, Honda was a bit more expensive when compared top spec hybrid trim to top spec hybrid trim but when the new redesigned RAV4 comes out in 2yrs, that’ll be more expensive possibly even slightly more than the CRV hybrid!

Reviewing the RAV4 is like writing a dining review about oatmeal. Thank you for your service. Full disclosure. I own a 2019 RAV4 and love oatmeal. Toyota is conservative about new tech, but if it has a clear benefit for costumers, Toyota quickly adds it to all models.
Can’t say for sure until it actually comes out but it’s a possibility. That is, if you’re looking at mainly the equipment list and materials etc. But people will still buy it regardless lol

They can say whatever they want really because at that time, no one can really say too much. And I mean, Toyota has never really been the best in class in terms of technology and driving dynamics and cabin materials and all that. They’ve always been midpoint if you ask me. Boring cars, the ultimate appliance vehicle. But they always sold relatively well, which didn’t make sense apart from reliability being a big reason. Nowadays, they are slipping. The Tundra issues are serious and there’s no denying that. But in the case of the GH and TX, those recalls have nothing to do with the reliability of the cars, it’s a pretty major safety recall. But in the case of the Rav4, provided they do a similar thing they did with the new Camry, reliability itself should be largely unchanged. They might have some early teething issues but so did the current 5th gen back in 2019-2020ish, so not really a reason to not buy. And I mean, if they go turbo, well with the lack of maintenance that is now recommended, of course they won’t last as long as a naturally aspirated engine. People are very misinformed about maintenance nowadays so no surprise. So far, the T24A seems to be pretty good but for long term reliability, we need some more time to judge that.
