  • Timpson is a city in Shelby County. The population was 989 at the 2020 census. The community is named after T.B Timpson, a railroad engineer.
    Timpson was founded in 1885 upon the arrival of the Houston, East and West Texas Railway. It reached its maximum population in 1925 when it was important in the shipping of lignite.
    The town became well known in the 1930s and 1940s via the popularity of the Tex Ritter song 'Tenaha, Timpson, Bobo, and Blair', which refers to the string of towns in Shelby County.
    Tenaha is a town in Shelby County. The population was 989 at the 2020 census.
    Tenaha was established on February 2, 1886. The community was named by members of the Hicks family (Cherokee) for Tenehaw Municipality, from the Spanish, the original name of Shelby County.

    I used to live in Tenaha but during school there was a problem with me because the teachers kept putting pressure on me and I had to leave all my friends behind and make new ones I thought it was going to be a good thing but I regret taking a step out of Tenaha plus I used to live in the big white and red house across the street from the donut shop sure was
