Talsarnau to Harlech, Wales A496
Gwynedd is a county in the north-west of Wales. It borders Anglesey across the Menai Strait to the north, Conwy, Denbighshire, and Powys to the east, Ceredigion over the Dyfi estuary to the south, and the Irish Sea to the west. The city of Bangor is the largest settlement, and the administrative centre is Caernarfon. The preserved county of Gwynedd, which is used for ceremonial purposes, includes the Isle of Anglesey.
Gwynedd is the second largest county in Wales but sparsely populated, with an area of 979 square miles (2,540 km2) and a population of 117,400. After Bangor (18,322), the largest settlements are Caernarfon (9,852), Bethesda (4,735), and Pwllheli (4,076). The county has the highest percentage of Welsh speakers in Wales, at 64.4%, and is considered a heartland of the language.
The geography of Gwynedd is mountainous, with a long coastline to the west. The county contains much of Snowdonia (Eryri), a national park which contains Wales's highest mountain, Snowdon (Yr Wyddfa; 3,560 feet, 1,090 m). To the west, the Llŷn Peninsula is flatter and renowned for its scenic coastline, part of which is protected by the Llŷn AONB. Gwynedd also contains several of Wales's largest lakes and reservoirs, including the largest, Bala Lake (Llyn Tegid).
The area which is now the county has played a prominent part in the history of Wales. It formed part of the core of the Kingdom of Gwynedd and the native Principality of Wales, which under the House of Aberffraw remained independent from the Kingdom of England until Edward I's conquest between 1277 and 1283. Edward built the castles at Caernarfon and Harlech, which form part of the Castles and Town Walls of King Edward in Gwynedd World Heritage Site. During the Industrial Revolution the slate industry rapidly developed; in the late nineteenth century the neighbouring Penrhyn and Dinorwic quarries were the largest in the world, and the Slate Landscape of Northwest Wales is now a World Heritage Site. Gwynedd covers the majority of the historic counties of Caernarfonshire and Merionethshire.

And a hearty good afternoon to you from Decatur Illinois. Did you notice the light pole next to W. T. Flora Gems at the 14:58 mark of your video? Did you see the blue sign attached to that light pole? There is a neat story behind that sign. Feel free to ask me about it. By the way, you will see three more of these signs at the 20:40 mark of this video.

When I was attending Marshall in the 1970s I stayed with a lady on third avenue whose name was Mrs. E. E. Meadows. She would often talk about the bad flood of 1937. Her house was across the street from the Science Building at Marshall. When I was in Huntington Hal Greer Boulevard was called 16th Street.

Looks clean and functional, but not very interesting.

Thanks for sharing this. Huntington doesn't look as bad as I was told. I know there are some other neighborhoods in need of TLC, but there seems to be nice areas too.

It's Wellingborough. Save Yourself ! Run !!!
@richard6440 ah......
Born and raised in Houma and moved away in 1993. While I love coming back to visit family , I can’t wait to leave because there isn’t much to do besides eat.😄 There’s a need for a new family entertainment venue in town. Something like “Surge” that we had drive to Lafayette to visit. A few more cafe’s, cigar bar, and a jazz club would be nice too. Also the Civic Center needs to host more concerts and plays.
Born and raised in Marshall, Texas and this video is bias because it only depicts - white neighborhoods. I loved growing up in Marshall, Texas, but this place has a lot of historical places for African Americans. Marshall is a beautiful place!
I drove a, tracked gun in the 70's. In the army of, course. We were moving our, gun position. In the snow. Alk of, a sudden i found myself driving through, your beautiful town. Wood framed houses. This was in the 70's , snow on the rooves everywhere was, snow. Felt like i was, driving through a, Xmas card. Never forgot it.
Cell ist schon.
Why do Florida cities always look like Ghost Towns?
music fits perfectly with the scenery

"EEEOUUU! WHAT'S THAT SMELL?"
Once on the barrelhouse circuit.
Great to see my old British army barracks at 11:12 where Spandau prison was too which is now Kaufland store. Thank you very much for the memories. Can you imagine we used to drive our 56 tonne tanks down those same streets.
Check out Clarksburg West Virginia someday.
Stay out of the library!
Beaches dirty sorry looks better who knows what is in the sand ?
Wow only show the 1950's Houma? Unfortunately this drive is filming true but outdated infrastructure. How about Mary Bird Perkins. Cardiovascular Institute of the South leader in the country and the downtown port? The main st boardwalk .How about the 10 million dollar homes off HWY 311, Bayou Black, Waterproof? One many schools that have been rebuilt or renovated. Tunnel blvd? Large car car dealerships in every make with exception of the elite euro's. K&B machine with its 3 campuses doing NASA work? 5 lane Martin Luther King with the franchises? Grand Isle Shipyard? Round -about going into the new multi million dollar developments off 311. All the brand new Homeland Security and corporate developments off HWY 56 . Cocodrie, which is based off Houma is under a total revitalization to multiple millions of dollars for world class offshore fishing and entertainment. St Charles St with modern design& lighting , 4 lanes , restaurants and services. This is unfortunate video that shows true but outdated life of early style Houma. Mardi Gras is better the NOLA because you can catch with many parades of 21 plus floats and because the riders care! NOLA MOTORSPORTS Raceway 35 minutes away and New Orleans Proper is 60 respectively FYI God Bless
I’m going to move here, Manifesting it
I used to work for Cummins at the various plants there over 20 years ago. If we go to Columbus now it's to shop and it's never downtown.
