Hard to understand how this series doesn't have a half million views - too bad many people can't maintain attention unless someone is breaking out a winch or lifting tires every few seconds! Most of my favorite journeys have been overland adventures - you really capture the beauty and solitude that mark a truly memorable trip!
Cheers mate, sorry its taken so long for me to reply. I've been given an opportunity that was to good to pass up but I had to give up the youtube filming for a year or two.
Dammit ... avoided watching this as I didn’t want to catch up and have nothing to watch ... Great work Gavin. Another top production buddy. I’m going to pick your brains big time in a few weeks mate! Good stuff and thanks for another great episode. 😎
Another great episode , more great drone shots and the lakes with rare water . I was thinking it must be hard to fly the drone and drive at the same time but i realized you must have the drone on "follow" . Can't wait till next episode :-)
Hi Gav, you were a year ahead of me at PDHS, stumbled across your UA-cam last night. My son (8yrs) is absolutely loving the csr series. I got in trouble from him for watching one without him! Ha! Great to see a few familiar faces too, from your other vids (Cam & jack from crackerjack) keep up the great work mate. 👌🏼 Anika
Hi Anika, I remember you :D I'm stoked you and your son are enjoying the series. Cam and I are having a great time making them and have plenty more in the pipeline for you. Get in touch on Facebook sometime if you like, it's always great to catch up with Para people :D
Well done Mate, another great show, 5 weeks out there is a real challenge for most people let alone being out there by yourself is an incredible achievement in its self. Special people do what you are doing, Job well done. I was just thinking about the number of people you have come across out there on this trip, 30 years ago when i worked out that way you barely seen anybody in 2 weeks and on occasion I came across stranded people broken down with very little water or food, one aboriginal chap I came across happily sitting under a tree was waiting for his 16 year old grandson to return with the days hunt, they had been out there for around 3 weekend were content and happy. Fascinating beautiful country, keep that camera rolling can't wait to see the next addition. regards G
Gavin, thanks for your great series. This is the best episode so far for me, because of the drone footage over the flooded clay pans. Compared to 4xoverland, your video's show more of the CSR, and present it better, without continual distractions pushing how good you or your sponsor's products are. Those deep wheel ruts were caused by two large unimogs that became bogged last year.
Thank you so much for the kind words and for letting me know what made those huge rutts. I love it when people share with me the stories behind the things I see. Cheers :D
Gavin , thanks mate another great episode I really enjoyed it. Camera work and drone footage very good , music fantastic and strait forward interesting commentary 👍👍
Another great episode. Cheers Gavin for sharing and making it such an engaging production. I reckon you must have picked one of the best months of the past decade to travel, at least, judging by the amount of water you've encountered! Looking forward to the Kimberley vids already👊
G'day Jeff, yeah the timing couldnt have been better for my CSR trip. Very lucky to have gone in 2017, not sure we will see it like that for a long time. Thanks for watching :D
SummitX.net yep...just saw the Manta Exhausts vid. Really interesting to see how it's all done. Heard a rumour you might also put together a 'behind-the-scenes' vid of the CSR trip?! Hoping so...I'm hooked on this channel now. Great stuff👌
The rumor's are true :D I think the behind the scenes / bloopers reel will be good for a laugh :D I'm stoked your enjoying the content. I'm not sure if I will have the time but im going to do my best to bring you 2 videos a week from now on. One series video of some kind and a shorter video like the Manta video or perhaps some live feed's on various things. :D I'm looking forward to it.
WOW, again another top quality release of your trip. Such wonderful drone footage and camera work. Thank you again for such a terrific episode. What a fantastic trip.
Leaves expel Oxygen and Water. Plants suck up water from the ground. I think what you actually mean is that small thin leaves help to reduce moisture loss from the dry and often hot air. In desert climates plants want to retain water and long skinny leaves work best because there is no great big surface area of a large leaf to face the sun. But we know what you mean - The desert has desert adapted plants. And the reason there is no fish (probably) is because the lakes are full of salt and when they fill they hence have salty water that is too salty to sustain fish life hence no birds. Great experience to interact with First Australians. They can teach you a lot. 7 x 70 series - all with skinny tyres and skinny spares.....Sounds familar....great stuff. To be honest, I think that until you've bogged yourself on the edge of a salt pan you never really know what a trap they are. Once you've joined the club of folk who have sunk to the axles you always avoid going off the formed track. Been there, done that, learned lesson, never again :-) A superior production. Interesting and it held my attention all the way through. Very relaxing and a good job well done :-)
What? FIRST again - making a habit of this now!!:) Seems your timing for uploads perfectly matches my coming home from work (16h30 here in SA now). Anyways, another great (even better!) episode, Gavin. Looking forward to more.
Another epic video great footage wish I was able to do something of this nature myself.. ehh maybe one day right I have a pretty decent rig just never have the time
I definitely will at some point soon and when I do I'll be sure to try and catch some video and let ya know! Keep up the great work man definitely enjoying the scenery!!
Great series Gavin. Can I ask what brand handheld rig you film with? Is it a gimbal and does it fit both GoPro and iPhone? Can you view the screen while filming? Keep them coming.
Hey Gavin been watching you tube for time and just came across your Chanel I like to say I really enjoy the way you present your show I know some time has passed since you aired this video but I have a question can the canning stock route be crossed in a hilux with a 145L tank and a twenty litre jerry can you called into and mentioned some aboriginal communities as you were passing by can I fuel up at this communities keeping in mind my limited fuel capacity cheers
Loving the series. Have been thinking about doing this trip for some time but now you’ve convinced me to do it. A couple of questions. Did you see anyone doing the trip with a camper trailer? Also, what was the song you played in episode 6 with the drone footage of the clay pan lakes? Keep up the great work.
MrAussieClay Gday mate, I'm glad your enjoying the series. The song list is in the video discription for you. I think you will love doing to CSR. I did see people towing camper trailers but I wouldn't recommend it. Every year more and more trailers are abondoned on the track, they also do more damage to the track than just a single vehicle. Lastly you wouldn't be able to do the entire track as trailers are banned from the first segments and Cunyu station.
Hi Gavin, really love the episodes mate. You are a bloody legend. I noticed that you mentioned you were doing a turn by turn map of the CSR. Are you sharing that Hema file by any chance? Thanks for the videos and I look forward to many more.
G'day Nathan, I'm stoked your enjoying the show mate. I will be making the file available on my website shortly after the CSR series finishes. However it wont stricktly be a HEMA file, I will have instructions but its going to be plugged into LeadNav and that will give you Voice turn by turn navigation :D Thanks for watching and if you havent seen it yet check out the competition on our Instagram and Facebook pages :D
SummitX.net awesome mate thanks for the heads up. I have been doing the same thing on my expeditions with the family. I know how daunting it can be for new 4WDers to get out and explore so I think the more sharing of tracks and routes that have been successfully driven and described will make it easier and safer for everyone. I have a 6 yr old daughter and an almost 3 year old son, plus my wife to take care of so the better prepared we are the better.
Absolutely, especially tracks like the CSR which have hundreds of unmarked offshoots that can take you a long way off the beaten track. This year I came across a bloke who went down the Windy Corner track and I guided him back to the CSR via radio lol Lucky for him I have a 12dB aerial and could hear his radio call 40kms away. He was a bit lost :D
Favourite episode, thanks for the effort put into sharing these vids. Did you have phone reception along the csr or is it on and off or non existant? Cheers
Jon Paul Gday mate, I'm glad your enjoying the series. You wont get any phone reception the entire length of the CSR. The nearest phone towers are at either end and because the communities are so small there you dont even pick those up unless your within sight of the town. The CSR crosses 4 of the most remote deserts in the world. Less than a few hundred people live scatteted along its entire length of 2000kms
Hey Gav... awesome CSR vid. Just seen you mentioned you wouldn't need much of reason to do it again. If your keen, get in touch. Lets plan it. I'm solo but got a few dogs if that ain't a problem??? Let me know brother ....
Hi Gavin, Have just got through watching your Solo Canning Episodes. Well done mate, We got turned out at 21, back to Talawana Track and Newman in April 2017. I am an admin on the FB Page and agree with your comments on the Sand Hills. We had 3 Vehicles all towing and never backed off a hill. Just one question mate, You didn't show or mention Georgia Bore? Any reason for that, as many people use this camp. Again good work.
Hi Glenn, thank you. Your FB page is amazing. Gorgia Bore was packed when I went through there. I stopped briefly at the bore but between the flies and the crowd i only stayed 30m and camped off track about 10km south of there
Sounds like you did the right idea, we had the place to ourselves because of the rain, we had a group one day ahead of us that got through, but we climbed the hill after 21 and it was just a Lake. I put the Quad up and had a look around and we had one guy with a heavy trailer so Cross Country was out for him. Have no problem with going anywhere, we did Madigan before Tracks and Geo Centre with 64klm's in 2 days travel, but the were without Trailers. So hope to do the bottom next year. Cheers
@@glennpascoe1953 your going to love the bottom section when you get a chance. The terrain changes drastically and you can feel like its a whole new track
Really enjoying your series and information it contains, question, how big are the SD cards you are using in the GOPRO's and are you down loading the days filming each night or do you have lots of cards. Wishing to film as much of our planned trips as we start out exploring our great land
HOWARD MIDDLETON thank you for watching. I'm glad your enjoying the series. I use very high speed 64gig micro sd cards and I uploaded them to a SSD hard drive nightly. I came home with more than 1T of film from the 6 week Kimberley CSR trip. Looking foward to showing you the Kimberley series that was filmed prior to the CSR series :)
SummitX.net Appreciate this bit of knowledge too thanks Gav. I need more SD’s LOL! Hadn’t thought about the SSD drive either till you just mentioned it. Shite ... 🤓

Total respect for the local indigenous.
I live in a cultural community in NT and love the respect travellers have for the communities.

STUNNING......
Another great episode , more great drone shots and the lakes with rare water . I was thinking it must be hard to fly the drone and drive at the same time but i realized you must have the drone on "follow" . Can't wait till next episode :-)
Stephen Kite Gday mate. Yeah when driving I either have the drone on follow or spot mode to make my life a little easier. Thanks for watching :)

And it works for us other viewers too ... Thanks Bushie 👊🏽
Loved the drone shots of the lakes and surrounding country. Beautiful.
Thank you
Gavin , thanks mate another great episode I really enjoyed it.
Camera work and drone footage very good , music fantastic and strait forward interesting commentary 👍👍
Thanks mate :D not many left to go in the CSR series :D
Loving the choice in vehicles by the locals!
Graeme Guy yup, the Martu know how to get around in style
Another awesome episode Gavin. The landscape is certainly something to behold. Also loving the music tracks you’re using.
Chris Lai thanks mate, picking the music for this series took longer than editing a single episode so I'm very glad your enjoying it
Awsome series Gavin, looking forward to Ep 7.
Great viewing once again mate! This is a great way to end the working week, kicking back and enjoying this adventure of yours.
Greg Hammond thats awesome. Do you watch it in a TV?
+SummitX.net Yes mate, I run it on my iPad and stream it to the TV via Google Chromecast, fantastic on the big screen!
Awesome, when I first started 60% of people watched on their phones. Now 80% watch on their TVs which is what I design the films to be watched on :)
+SummitX.net The drone footage in particular is brilliant on the big screen! Looking forward to next weeks episode! Cheers mate.
Another great episode. Cheers Gavin for sharing and making it such an engaging production. I reckon you must have picked one of the best months of the past decade to travel, at least, judging by the amount of water you've encountered! Looking forward to the Kimberley vids already👊

Viktor Cebergs thanks mate :)
Enjoying your videos mate.. Looking forward to doing my own trip down the Canning..
Rod V L thanks mate, when are you heading down the CSR?
SummitX.net Thinking July'ish '19. Will do the Gibb River rd then on to the CSR :). What have you got planned for your next trip Gavin??
Awesome stuff
great series. given me a few good ideas for my csr trip....look forward to the rest
Aj Howell awesome, glad your enjoying the series mate
Great episode. Nice commentary and aerial footage too
EMU4WD thanks mate :)

Thanks mate. Great journey.
Stuart Calvin cheers, I hope you enjoy the up coming Kimberley series as well :)

Rona's Roadshow thanks :) it sure was stunning when i came over that dune to see water everywhere
when we crossed the dune and saw lake disappointment..! WOW! it was a fairyland!
Yoda getting a rough ride ;), great vid, looking forward to more.

Looks like I have further research to do. Thanks for the insight.
This has been probably asked before but since I am new here, can you tell me if you are using Hema maps app on iPad and if so your review of it please
Hi Rick, yep, I use the HX1 and an iPad Hema for extra detail. I also use custom maps on a program called LeadNav. Hope that helps
Oh and the review, I wouldn't use anything else right now. By far the best maps available :)
Gavin Gillett thanks mate will look at Hema app as only venture out 4 to 6 times a year
You should have had a sip at savory creek ;)
When are you taking the 1190 down the CSR mate?
Thats why im watching SummitX ;) Its my ultimate goal, but some preparation first.
5*!
