It's funny you say that. Dead or Alive 4 is basically Dead or Alive 3 in HD. I played both games back to back and only saw a difference in image quality.

thats the thing, games on the original xbox were ahead of their time. DOA 3, Enclave, Splintet Cell 3, Ralli Sport 2, Crimson Skies, PGR 2, Riddick etc. all these games still looks nice. But picture quality is another thing, 480p looks superb on CRT, and on new HDTV's xbox games looks like blurry mess. I wish every original xbox game would run in 1080p somehow on PC. Some xbox games like Enclave and splinter cell were ported on PC and in high resolution they still looks nice.
Because most people were trying to buy PS2 instead of getting the better XBOX.

Even Dead or Alive 2 on the Sega Dreamcast looked amazing especially considering the limited hardware it was running on.

To be fair though, this DOA also had a lot of outfits. But I get what you mean, it's a damn shame specially how the stages have been downgraded in the DOA5/6 era, there is nothing like the snow in that stage or the multilevel stages with so many hazards that would make even the best ones in DOA5/6 look boring in comparison.
鉄拳Tekken 5, Virtua Fighter 4 - Evolution, and Soulcalibur III were the biggest reasons why Dead or Alive turned into a fashion show,
those three games did it first.

Low Key one of the best fighting games of all time. It was the unique and distinctive fighting styles of all the characters that made it so good.

For a near 20 year old game, this still looks fantastic. I bought the first Xbox because of this game, Project Gotham Racing and a little known game called Halo: Combat Evolved, perhaps you've heard of it? What an incredible launch lineup.

I loved the original XBox so much! And DOA3 was (is still) really fabulous!
This and halo ended up as 2 pretty good launch titles for the xbox i'd say lol..
And Project Gotham Racing too. That game was so much fun and also showcased the power of the Xbox.

It shifted after Tomonobu Itagaki left Tecmo after DOA4 (he directed the games) The last game like this was Dimensions on the 3DS
@@SK91NO I lost interest in the series after 3. The series used to be a technological showpiece, blended with great fighting mechanics. I feel that it didn't really evolve after this entry and stagnated.
The snow stage also has deforming snow on the ground. Even Tekken 7 doesn't have that (though I think 6 did).
Man that intro hit me with nostalgia so hard 😊 and I always played the demo verison never the full 1.

I grew up starting with the second generation of video games. The jump from psx to ps2 / xbox was mind blowing! these graphics were decades ahead of time. I still have a ps2 and xbox connected to a crt tv and the graphics really do look as good as this if not better on original hardware and crt
Yep and Xbox in particular looks much better on an HD CRT due to the resolution increase.
graphics still look good today but we're ahead it's time then. But also the fighting gameplay mechanics had been superb. One of the best fighting games ever.

I was such a beast at this at only 4-5 years old. 20 years later and it’s aged gracefully. The style is so pretty compared to modern doa games and the stages are leaps more interactive and immersive considering the hardware had only gotten better with time it’s a shame 3 looks better than 5

+V-Khamint Station *24/7* yes i play DOA5LR in ps3 with hitomi and i play DOA3 in xbox are good games. Tomonobu itagaki wrote a letter about DOA5LR he wrote that the game is too difficult for novices
DOA5 had lots of good things that makes DOA3 dated,
but two things that DOA5 doesn’t have is a good feel and an awesome style like how DOA3 has.

The game is actually more beautiful than DOA 6, yeah, the character models are more "animesque" than the semi realistic design of DOA 6 but look at everything else, not only the game runs faster but the stages have way more details than any stage in the DOA 5/6 era, specially that stage with snow, I miss this era of DOA.

The textures in this is more stronger than soul calibur 3 which came on 2005. Soul calibur 3 is still impressive it had good lighting and I think the way the characters looked look nicer like the style and they have strong facial expressions. But this game definitely had a bit more advanced textures than soul calibur 3

PlayStation 2 is my favorite sixth generation console. However, the classic Xbox is better technically. Its graphics are most beautiful. In reality, even the Gamecube is superior than PlayStation 2 regarding to graphics, in my opinion. But, the 128bit of Sony still is my favorite of its generation. Its repertoire of games is fantastic! Dead or Alive 3 (Xbox) is my second preferred title of series - my favorite game of DOA series is Dead or Alive 2, for Dreamcast and PlayStation 2.

PS2 held it's own against Xbox and Gamecube. Many of my favorite looking games are on PS2. Xbox graphic blew it away but PS2 had the art to back it up.

And I played “Dead Or Alive 2 Hardcore” on my PlayStation 2. I got an Xbox 360 to play “Dead Rising” so I bought “Dead Or Alive Xtreme 2” and “Dead Or Alive 4”. And I played “Dead Or Alive 5” and “Dead Or Alive 5 Last Round”. I had all of the barefoot costumes for the girls! 😀❤️🦶🏻😀
