    Super helpful level of explanation. The lock on the extension was stumping me and other tutorials I looked at didn't show what I needed (hover over the tiny bottom edge to get the lock to show and hover until it changes color before clicking to unlock).

    I hate it how the layers have to be adjacent to one another in order to extend them. I'm currently working on a project with a 2x4 wall with gypsum board on each side and I want to adjust the gypsum board on each side, but that dumb thing won't let me. Thanks for answering my question though - I was trying to see if there was some way to do it, but it looks like there isn't.

      The way i would handle your situation is to unlock the stud wall. Set the height of the wall to where you want the gypsum to be and then use the top offset for the stud
