Yes. So to tranfer from project to project you can use transfer project standards on the manage tab. Or you can model a wall and then copy and paste it into a new file. Hope this helps

I hate it how the layers have to be adjacent to one another in order to extend them. I'm currently working on a project with a 2x4 wall with gypsum board on each side and I want to adjust the gypsum board on each side, but that dumb thing won't let me. Thanks for answering my question though - I was trying to see if there was some way to do it, but it looks like there isn't.
The way i would handle your situation is to unlock the stud wall. Set the height of the wall to where you want the gypsum to be and then use the top offset for the stud

How can I make the location line visible in my plans. is this possible?
No, it is not possible to show it. But if you select the wall. The blue dots that allow you to stretch the wall will be located where the location line is. The location line can also be adjusted in the properties palette

As someone with no monetary income I wish there was a long term educational trial version with certant funtions blocked...I'm a C.E.T and I am trying to get Revit so I can really really get good at it.

Great channel! You explain things really well and are easy to follow. I was wondering if you had a methodology when placing constraints in your model. For example, when starting a model, do you draw grid lines first and lock the major walls to them? And if you are adding constraints like locking floors to walls, what is the best way to go about that? Lock the floor to the walls or lock the floor to the grids? I once heard someone say it's not good to lock elements to other elements and it's better to lock to grid lines. What's your opinion and how do you go about this? I am finding it very time consuming to change a detailed model and would love to set things up smarter. What is your best constraint methodology when drawing models? :)
Hi Andrea, thanks for comment. This is a great question. To start off, limiting the number of items locked together is essential, it should only be used for critical things. Too many locked items can really slow down performance because every time you move a locked item Revit needs to calculate all of the other locked items. So to answer your question. I usually start by laying out grids or reference plans (depends on the project). Then I draw the walls, and I usually do not lock them to a grid or even to a reference plan because I want flexibility. What I would recommend is setting a Global Parameter for Gridline offset and dimension from the gridline to the wall and apply the global parameter to that dimension string. Better way to constrain a wall to a grid. If you use the pick walls command when creating roofs or floors, Revit automatically associates that line to the wall so if the wall adjusts so does the floor, so no need to constrain it. Hope this helps.

Can you do Dincel walls please...
All that Dincel walls are formwork for concrete walls. Similar to ICF walls. The way I would show this is to make a 3 layer wall. The PVC form, concrete wall, PVC form. I would not model the ribs.
Awesome tutorial. So for the framing layer, how are the insulation batts included?
This is a tricky thing to actually model. Typically I call that layer stud with insulation and give the wall the thermal properties as if it has insulation. There isn't much else we can do. Normally you would not model every stud in the wall. You can and I am planning a tutorial on this. To note the insulation in the drawings you can use the batting lines or add a fill to walls with insulation.
hi i have probem for exterior finishing when second floor and wall is attached. there is line of floor in the facade. how to solve that so there is no line ? thanks
Joining the wall to the floor helps. Also modeling it how it is actually built helps. What I mean by this that the floor structure does not extend out to the exterior finish layers. More often than not it stops somewhere within the structural core layer. Hope this helps!

Super helpful level of explanation. The lock on the extension was stumping me and other tutorials I looked at didn't show what I needed (hover over the tiny bottom edge to get the lock to show and hover until it changes color before clicking to unlock).

Go to the view tab on the ribbon and there is a User Interface button with a drop down. Just check the project browser button in the drop down. Hope this helps
