Love this car. I’ve made peace that it isn’t the most efficient- as a commuter car it feels quality and I’m never afraid of running out of range.
Thanks Bjorn. The Polestar 2 keeps looking better and better.
Great for canadien winter , he have a lot here thank’s for the test
These true winter tests are very helpful to demonstrate the bottom line for every car.
Bjorn are you gonna review the BYD Seal soon and it would be nice to have a winter range test for the seal
Good car in nice test! Quality seems also top. But not really cheap
Ordered one, Polestar 2 LR and it is arriving in 3weeks
Sleek ride!! High class commuting!
Why don't you do a Car of the Year?
Your opinion on best for City, Familly and Luxuru.
Why does everyone compare cars with Tesla. There are quite a lot of other things that prefer over range
Tesla makes the best EVs, but other brands may make better cars or cars more to people's taste or use case.
When comparing EV elements, Tesla is the benchmark.
For many regular consumers, range is still an important topic.
@@kaasman78Tesla doesn’t make the best EVs. That title would likely go to Lucid. Tesla does however have the most mature manufacturing process, so they were able to make cars like the 3 and the Y that had mass appeal due to their affordability.
Lucid (for example) is objectively better in terms of engineering, range, build quality, charging speed, performance. The idea that Tesla is “the benchmark” at this point is lazy and based on sentiments from 5+ years ago (where it was likely true).
@@jayem8981 Tesla is the benchmark cause of its efficency while having good performance and best thermal management. Lucid is not a product average consumer can buy so not a benchmark. Otherwise you can say a Rimac is the benchmark if it comes to the best EV...
Would really like a review/test of the polestar 4 as well!
I don't think it's available yet. I'm sure he will test it when he can get his hands on it.
Can't wait for this one. The range/quality/price seem impressive.
in Denmark they don't have winter
Model 3 and after that Raven were first Teslas to have induction/ PM combo
Range is everything
Just so you know, we need a summer test as well :)
I order yesterday for me PLS2 😊
Bjørn, will you have any one of the BYD Seals for testing in the near future?
No
I can't decide between the Long Range Dual Motor and the LRDM with Performance package, is the difference in driving pleasure really that big? I've driven both and I didn't feel the difference in the drive was that big
Too bad for Elon that Bill already has the rights on the brandname Xbox 🙂
Hi Bjorn. You often bring up how people should read BMW - Deutsch way (BeeEemVee or sth like this. I would like to notice that You should also read Ikea other way - as far as I know IKEA should be read Polish/German way. (I like E, K - like german K, e like in spaghetti, also german way, and A like in bravo). Greetings from Poland
Thanks Bjorn. I thought we could not use an OBD reader on the Polestar. Can you tell me what hardware and sorftware you are using?
Obd link mx or some more expensive obd adapter and car scanner app
@@IstvanDarabos I thought Polestar was a different protocol than the std odb2 one
❤❤❤
199Wh/km at 90kmh (even though in qinter) is massive ... Polestar seems never to become really efficient 🤷♂️
161Wh/km at 90kmh (even though not so cold) is massive ... Tesla seems never to become really efficient🤷♂
@@GreenTorque yupp, exactly my point . I do not understand why Polestar cannot make their cars more "slippery"
Worth it to me for a car that looks that good. I've never bought an ICE car in the past based on how efficient it was.
@@gavinmoore8024Also for me nice looks is much more important than super good efficiency. This is even more true for EVs as if you charge at home driving pretty much cost nothing. And if some other car is 20% more efficient is almost like 0 * 20% saving -> in practise nothing.
Only reason would be that if you travel long distances -> then range / cost have more meaning.
Also P2 is just so excellent to drive that for me it would be hard to jump to anything else.
Fab video again, what's the app you use there again?
Ok. Good to know. Unfortunately P2 is about 10k$ more expensive and I am not sure if the range diff is worth that.
120 in those roadconditons? :O
You got balls Bjørn ;)
I usually dont go any faster than 70 if icy roads in my Q4 e50 (studless)
Is it only Tesla's "pilot assist" that works with blurred lines?
Tesla Autopilot activates when there is one line slightly visible, it will stay on and keep driving pretty solid even if there is no lines at all anymore. (Base Autopilot, not enhanced or fsd)
6:05, what the hell, no sound when lane keeping stops for no reason?
But there is a vibration in the steering wheel.
Any test of the Highland Standard range RWD coming? Close to ordering it but as always when considering EV's, your opinion is very valuable!
Hi Bjørn, which OBD dongle/profile are you using? Is it the OBDLINK LX? I have not been able to find one that works in polestar.
I cannot get my highland Sr above 140Wh/km... Weather has been consistent 5 to 15 degrees and mostly heavy rain. Plenty of 120 motorway driving as well.. (stock tyres and covers)
No wonder if 120 is your top speed. Even my old S 75D only consumes about 180 (lifetime), since I don’t often drive faster than 120 kph.
I don't know why you have to mention Tesla AP always. Activating AP in such conditions is illegal by law and by Teslas terms. Polestar also could easily recognize a street somehow without lane markings but disables it to prevent from doing something stupid.
Range is not everything.
True....that's why Uncle Bjorn also has:
- interior video
- acceleration, headlight, charging video
- banana box video
- 1000km video
😉👍
It’s definitely important though and one area Polestar 2 has needed to improve is efficiency.
Lol, range together with charging infrastructure has been the main reasons why the EV market share is still extremely low. So maybe in your little baby world range is nothing but for normal families, why the hell would you pay more for something more inconvenient?! Stop and charge for an hour every 300 km on a long trip is absolutely pathetic.
@@Libbbo 300 km between charging stops? 😂 that would be heaven. Its more like 100-200 which makes it even more annoying….
2nd refresh in 4 years and still major complaints? Why don’t they just give up?
Perhaps the people complaining aren’t their target audience yet. An aspirational viewer wants the sun moon and the stars while comparing it to the car of their dreams; but when it comes to affording either, are faced with the cruel reality of their finances. We’ve all done it. The best thing is that when opportunity comes, we’ve done our research thanks to our Norwegian vlogger, and can maybe make a better decision, new or used. I did, and it wasn’t one of his top picks either. So thanks to uncle Bjørn, I’m the proud owner of a ‘concrete green’ Volvo.
The drivers display interface looks very cheap, don’t like it
At least it has a driver interface....
I think it looks excellent. Eye of the beholder I guess.
I'm not a Polestar fan, but i think the driver interface is good. Lots of info and not too big (vertical screen). Seems pretty responsive as well.
Software is great. But I would love a more modern looking screen with thinner bezels.
@@stefan2796 I mean the display that’s in front of the driver with all the data, the other one seems fine
Still worse than Tesla, shame
Different conditions. In the recent test by NAF Polestar 2 and Tesla M3 ended up with practically same range and consumption when driven in convoy even though M3 is 150kg lighter and had 18 inch wheels. Interesting that even though Tesla is much more aerodynamic and lighter it can't beat the Polestar. Its motors must be very inefficient.
So in the Polestar you might need to charge up a bit more often, But everything else is much better than a Tesla
@@johnmoe883to be fair, that (NAF test) was the single motor LR PS2 vs the dual motor Model 3. This is the dual motor PS2 so it is expected that the range is a bit lower. I would go with a PS2 dual motor regardless because I like the AWD in the Norwegian winter. Range isn't eveeything!
Slightly less range, far superior build quality. Overall the polestar 2 is a better car than a model 3. The model 3 is a cheaply built piece of shit IMO.
@@robertbauer3676 totally agree. I used to own one.
Volvo won't kill you with fake assurances. Tesla not so much.
