I've always been around Armenians in Los Angeles (one of the largest diaspora communities in the world) Yet there's a HUGE difference between "Glendale" Armenians and ...Armenia- Armenians.
Little backlogged on travel footage, as promised before the #Tuvalu episode I owe you guys a Geography GO episode! A few months ago I was invited to be a guest speaker at the Extraordinary travel festival in #Yerevan #Armenia. Therefore I had to make this. Enjoy!
Little correction : The first country to adopt Christianity as state religion was the Kingdom of Osroene
Can you so UAE after Uganda please
Glad you enjoyed your stay in my homeland!!!
Quick correction, Armenian is one of the few Indo-European languages not to use the Latin or Cyrillic scripts (actually the only one apart from the Greek) if one excludes the entire Indo-Iranian family which largely uses child systems of the Brahmi and Perso-Arabic families. That's over a billion speakers of hundreds of different languages.
"There is an apocryphal legend that Osroene was the first state to have accepted Christianity as state religion, but there is not enough evidence to support that claim."
Armenia was first, sorry.
Fun fact: Poland has had Armenian immigration dating back to medieval times and our noble class clothing was influenced by Armenian clothing.
Love❤to Poland from an Armenian. Polish people helped us alot , we were invited to Galicia by prince David Igorevich in from 1300 to 1400 who helped our people shelter, after dismemberments of our country by Turks and Muslims. Casimir III from Poland gave us rights and to form even a counsil while not being catholic. 🇦🇲✝️🇵🇱

What’s it like being “Glendale Armenian”? Like whats it like having Armenian stores in USA other than armenia. I’m Armenian but I grew up in Virginia (less than 1500) and a little in Armenia
@@meowclaws4690 Being the largest Armenian diaspora outside the homeland, the Armenian presence is very easily felt. Glendale is also one of the safest cites in the whole nation. If you ever decide to come to Glendale one day, make sure to go to the Americana, Kenneth Village, and Montrose :)

That feeling when you have the worst neighbours, as a Pole, I sympathise with Armenia. And I love the idea of a "pilgrimage" to the old country. I'm lucky I can live in my homeland, having to flee and live in another country sounds like a nightmare. I wish Armenia peace.

We visited Armenia in 2018. Stayed in a small hotel with a nice free breakfast buffet. I tried to speak Armenian and one of the Armenian ladies cooking breakfast was so happy she gave me special treatment and even baked a cake at home for my teenage son! They will praise your kids and you for having your kids! 😄 Very hospitable. We used a local travel company to go everywhere and often included a big lunch in the countryside and maybe a wine or brandy factory tour with tastings, plus mountain, villages, monasteries, museums, all the top sights.
I've dreamed of travelling to Armenia since the 80s (seriously). However, I ended up moving to Argentina and that's where I am still today. Hopefully I will have the chance to visit Armenia one day, God willing.

@@myvideouploading the reason is that Armenians have been persecuted for being a unique people by the Turks and the Azerbaijani government. Armenia is also not as rich country as you might believe. Although beautiful, Armenia has a lot of problems. Now with the Artsakh conflict many Armenians have fled because of their neighbors and their desires to get rid of Armenia from the map.

Thank you for clarifying that Armenia is not Eastern Orthodox! That's one of the most common mistakes that I see repeated everywhere, even in otherwise reputable news sources.
What's the difference between them anyways?
@@aryanhassan4659 Orthodoxy resulted from the church schism in 1054 over the authority of the pope.
Armenian clergy didn't participate in the 451 council of Chalcedon that determined the dual nature of Christ, therefore it still follows miaphysitism, unlike orthodoxy which follows duophysitism.

It's so cool that you go to these countries that aren't visited a whole lot. I have a friend that taught English as a second language in Georgia (country) and Armenia and said ot of everywhere he's been those were his favorite countries. I can definitely see why.
I’ve also traveled a bit and agree - Armenia and Georgia are maybe the most fascinating countries I’ve visited. The region is unlike anywhere else in the world, you really feel that you are in an ancient place with ancient roots, there is a stunning diversity of landscapes, and the people are some of the most welcoming on the planet (although that seems to be starting to change in Tbilisi - last two times I was there people were oddly cold and unwelcoming, which may be a result of their being sick of all the Russians that have arrived recently)

I visited Armenia for 4 days this summer, and I can totally relate and confirm that I had the same impressions as you Barb! I kinda felt that Armenia is kind of "mix" between Latin America and Russia but with a milenary culture vibe on the background. It was really interesting to spend 3 days in Yerevan. It reminded me to Arequipa in Perú, with the big volcano (Ararat) on the background and the stone used to make the buildings (Sillar in Arequipa, Tuff in Armenia). The city is very diverse on its structure and design. Aside from the different impressions of the city, the country's history is very sad. Armenians are definitely a nice folk to talk and hang out around. Really liked this video to remember everything!
