I know a lot of people like to make you believe Jin didn't know how to sing before bts etc. but that's not entirely true. Most of Jin's development happened pre-debut BTS when they were still trainees. Jin's own vocal coach has said he was her best student and she also explained that teaching him wasn't about improvement but more so a transformation from acting vocalisation to a singing one. Jin is a very hard worker so yes, he is still improving every day due to his incredible personality that always wants to do better BUT even in the early days of bangtan he was already an incredible vocalist. He just didn't get the chance to show it back then at all. (there are a few older live songs that show it like outro luv in skool and outro: propose)

They more so point out how he joined Big Hit without any prior singing knowledge or even interest, and grew to be such an amazing singer.

When you remember that Jin had no background in singing when he joined BTS, he has come an incredibly long way. I love his voice, always have, but he is noticeably stronger now.
Jin is such a unique singer. He carries this emotion in his voice that no one else does. Grammy panelists call him “silver voice” and I can see why. Jin is so talented and I’m so proud of him. Jin biased 🙋♀️

He was not only offered for his looks, he was scouted because he was handsome but he had to train with the rest of the trainees and pass the evaluation to actually debut. Also the main reason why jin was casted was the need of lead actor for the bts storyline. Jin has a acting degree from the top university of Korea which is popular for making popular actors. Jin was a very good actor and bighit wanted someone to play the lead role in the bighit storyline so jin was casted. Also his dancing and singing were very good after practicing it as a trainee which is why he was able to beat other trainees to pass the evaluation to debut in bts.
