- On this short trip we got to deliver one of the coolest holy-grail type of instruments to its new owner, a man who needs no introduction to most, Jason Momoa! We've featured this wonderful 1934 Martin D-28 on the channel before, with Tyler going into great detail about its life and how it sounds, so this is all about its final journey out of our shop. Trevor sits down with Jason for the first chords on his new guitar, chatting about his many years of history with Emerald City Guitars, the history of the guitar, and more!

Ladies and gentlemen… that is what living your best life looks like. It’s cool to see somebody who is excited to hold such a piece of guitar history. Good for him!
too bad he sucks at guitar
Mad respect to Jason for being a player and not a poser... now that he is the custodian of this historic guitar it will have a place where it will get played.... which is what guitars need. Good on you Jason!
Thanks
Amen brother!
He seems like the Actor version of Posty. Just cool, fun, down to earth, and ready to have fun. Just a real dude.
Love some Posty
Dude is just a humble man, no fancy stuff just simple life
lol no fancy stuff except one of the most expensive vintage guitars ever
@@kevinlong4657 Seriously, I mean Momoa seems cool, but it's funny how an A-list global megastar and businessman can throw a couple of Airstreams out in the woods behind his mansion and people will be like LOOK HE'S JUST A SIMPLE GUY
Momoa is nothing like you or me. His life does not resemble ours in the slightest.
Besides a guitar that's priceless. And he doesn't live there. Idc what he says
never been jealous of another man in my life, but Jason Momoa makes it impossible not to be envious of how cool he is...
Yeah man we’re side characters in his universe, it’s annoying and endearing that one guy is that cool and real.
Wann hear something funny? My coworker got back from SEMA and he told me he got damn near plowed into by Momoa as he was running and goofing off in the convention center or something. Then some twerp started squealing for an autograph literally chasing Jason Momoa, and he got bodyguarded. Just told me that this morning, ha. So even my buddy got to be a side character for a minute.
@@jcarry5214OMG!!!!! 😂 😆
@@miaorange It's just weird man. me and some rando in the internet made a joke and a day later my buddy almost gets nailed by the subject of that joke. Kinda weird, no? But here's the thing, you weren't invited. Get bent.
I was smiling the whole time as I felt his excitement. Such a cool dude. I'd drink beer with him and just talk about music.
I like Jason even more now. Awesome!
So glad it landed in the hands of someone who understands and appreciates it.
I'm so happy that someone like Jason would adopt this baby, people don't give him enough credit
Congrats to Jason. That #1 has survived is incredible and even more shocking is that it isn’t behind glass in a museum somewhere.
This is beyond cool that you could even get a hold of the first D-28 ,then Jason becomes the new owner and will share its music 🎶 on down the line 😮❤❤
I actually work at Martin as a builder! I'm a big fan of Momoa! He's gotta visit and take a tour!
Actually, you could make a series, following him around the world and presenting him with epic guitars, called, "Jason Momoa reacts!" The dudes lust for life is inspirational.
Jason playing Colter Wall on that D-28 guitar is killing me!
what song of colters is it
@@renameduser104 Living on the Sand and Sleeping on the Blacktop
@@FrankBillingsly thank you
I couldn't be happier that a guitar with so much historical value found it's way into the arms of such a cool human being. If I could hang out for a day with anyone, Jason is probably at the top of my list.
I get his excitement over getting that guitar, hell I got goose bumps watching him when he opened the case!
The soft quiet strumming on that guitar, wow. Absolutely Beautiful.
It really was rich and and had great tone. Beautiful piece of work and history. I wonder if Jason has heard of the Grateful Dead or Jerry Garcia? 🙃
He's playing some Colter Wall tunes... excellent choice
What a jaw-dropping guitar! Can't wait to see more Trevor Travels!!
I hope Jason puts it in his will to have this D-28 go to the Martin museum when he lives his life out.
It's worth a fortune, I'm sure it will go to his kids as investment
@@shable1436 Or he can sell it to the museum and it's passed to it once he passes.
He will probably pass it down. His son plays, too.
@@petera.michaelsen4657
Momoa can play! Hell yeah!
Frrr
Wicked, what a genuine top dude. Thrilled to see that epic D-28 go to a guy who is going to play it and not put it behind glass.
If you are coming to New Zealand, look me up Trev! Go ECG!
That put a smile on my face... Thanx!
Dude whipping out the colter wall licks badass!
What an incredible piece of music history, I'm so glad it ended up in the hands of someone like Jason. Maybe he can play "Secret Agent Man" for us.
Wow! What an incredible episode! #1 D28 Love his acting but really dig the real man! Builds his own bikes. Now has the absolute Holy Grail in vintage acoustic guitars! I would give my left nut to own that classic piece of wood!! 💲💲💲 Congratulations and enjoy every run up and down the richest neck!!👍💪🤘
So cool to see such an amazing guitar land with Jason. Thanks for documenting the story Emerald City Guitars!
First 14 fret D-28. The first Martin stamped D-28 was in '31, 12 fret of course.
Bravo! Iconic Emerald City Guitars & Trevor Boone. Once again an amazing video documentary experience!
I was in Seattle on sept 30th to catch Billy Strings coming through town. I stopped in your wonderful store and after chatting with a few of the incredibly kind staff there for a few minutes they were like "hey we just got in something really special do you want to see it?" Well hell yes. They proceed to bring out this guitar and let me hold it.. which was a pretty special experience to say the least. They wouldnt tell me at the time who bought it but man I guess it was Aquaman.
The previous time I was in Emerald City my wife and I got to meet Chris Stapleton before his show in Seattle as he stopped in to buy a guitar with his entourage.
Needless to say stop in to Emerald City Guitars good things will happen.
Man I love this man. He is so down to earth and unpretentious. And please, he does not live in a junk yard. He may not be the neatest....
I love Jason he is so gentle
If there ever was man who has won at life Mr. Momoa is it.
Loved the whole vibe-Jason is as real as they come...That's what we all want to do is just hang out with our buds, strum some guitars, and drink a few beers.
Some of the best times I’ve ever had
That thing sounds awesome. I have a 96 D-28 and it just keeps getting better. His Joy over that thing is really cool. Good for him.
Wow nice job, Jason look like a nice man, humble and grounded! Enjoy this beauty Jason
So awesome!!! Can’t wait for more🙏🏻👏🏼🙏🏻👏🏼🙏🏻
Momoa really is a down to earth guy, glad to see him in the real, shares my passion, appreciate him tenfold.🎉
Thanks man
Man this video is just beyond everything!!!! Thank you !!!!
His fast and furious character was so over the top, yet somehow still great lmao
What an incredible video. Thank you for sharing!
This is great! I love Jason’s enthusiasm. 👏
Trevor man! You're a rock star livin' the life! Really fun following your adventures. Keep 'em coming! Also, congrats on your new addition!
Very cool fascinating story. Regarding this first D-28 Martin, which Jason Momoa recently purchased (Congrats!) The oldest D-28 Martin ever played was a 1936 model. Back in '97, at a small guitar vintage shop in San Francisco. That D-28 resonated like 61 year old guitar. Magical experience.
Sounds absolutely special!
I officially am a Jason Momoa fan now.
You are amazing guys, Jason and Trevor 💯 Very cool video 😎
Awesome! Jason seems like a cool dude. 😎
Jason Momoa couldnt get any cooler than this, he's one bad MF
he could but i think we'd all die. he's the man
That's Awesome!!
Who knew Momoa played guitar, or lived in a junk yard 😄 How cool is this video?
he's mainly a bass player with a really amazing bass collection
Fukin Aweseome! So good...
Coolest human!
Didn’t know it, but also didn’t surprise me!
It's all bullshit! Lol
Good lord, that thing sounds absolutely incredible!
Great video, love what Jason does for Hawaii.
Fantastic!
I was smiling thru the whole vid! Surprised Jason didn’t have his buddy/musician Ian Noe there to check it out.
Totally unreal, sooo cool 🤙
when it comes to guitar, Jason is just a guitar nerd like all of us. totally lovable
That’s an amazing guitar. Great video and cool story!
Super cool! LOVE old Martins. I own a 62 D-28 it spent time with Michael Bloomfield back in the day.
Love that the first thing he starts playing is some Colter Wall!
you caught that too? He's a big fan of Colters
I bought a Harmony Red Rocket of the wall at ECG back around 92. Took me all the way to a big LA record deal a couple years later.
Amazing episode!
Jason rocks loves this dude he so rad everything absolutely 💯 % Jason my guy forever my darling my ❤ love him with all heart
I knew I liked this chap for a reason!😊
Imagine when he rolls up for a guitar lesson with that!
the strings sound like i would splice my fingers trying to play meaning it is a serious piece of art❤❤
Preserving the past & thriving in it, awesome lifestyle
Your great guy. You feel music and and what it's about
I love plain ol guitar music. It's my favorite! Good job, good purchase ! Money very well spent my love !!! 🌵
Definitive proof of why it's better to be young with a lot of money, rather than old and broke.
Why would anyone need proof of that
... 🤷
Thanks for this. New fan of ya’ll’s…and of Jason’s.
You guys are littlerally the Johnny Appleseeds of vintage guitars.. Dropping them into appreciative and derserving hands all across the country. Great video!
“Johnny Appleseed” of guitars? WTF does that even mean? 😂 so dumb…
I'm impressed Jason 😮❤❤❤
Wow! Who knew still existed? Beautiful guitar
Momoa is so cool with good vibes ❤
Total awesomeness.................
Awesome as hell!
This is great. I genuinely don’t know who this guy is (obvs someone famous with a wedge to spend) but that’s the level of excitement you want around guitars! 😁
I just bought my first Martin SC10E series, and it has such a beautiful tone. Very awesome seeing this - you have to come to Whanganui while in NZ 😊.
This guy has a great spirit you can feel it..And good taste in guitars... Does aquaman have a burst?? Im zure he does.. And deserves it on spirit alone.. Kind of guy that just wants to play have a cew beers and chill. I get the impression hollywood is just a job for him. And people are his.passion..
Not Jason playing sleeping on the blacktop lol. What a cool dude
Nice to see Nice things happening to nice people.
Well that just made my day
Super cool episode
What a beauty! 😍
This vid is fire👏🔥
This is absolutely awesome! You now own an amazing piece of history, and a great guitar from all indications! I took love old string instruments - my most recent fav being a 1921 Bruno Soprano Uke. Little guy looks like it's been through it all, and sounds like an opera singer! Built by Niccoli Turturro in New York. Congratulations dude!
This story is as beautiful as Neil Young getting Hank Williams Sr's D28 Martin.
Do you believe magic, whoa!
🦄🦄🦄
I love it thats so awesome jason so much
Coolio 😊🎉 .
I have a Cort AJ881 since early high school 🎉
Thank you for guitar talk ❤
I love how he plays colter wall lol . Amazing sound man. That tone is just stunning
I love Trevor!
Very Cool!
Amazing babies!!!
Holy moly!
Take care of that guitar Jason! I’m sure it’s in good hands…what a piece of history. Martin is the epitome of American acoustic guitars, and to have ANY herringbone would be a blessing and for it to be the first D-28 must be a dream come true for nerds like us. Now learn some flat picking! 😂
Great video!
That d28 sounds soo good 👍!!
Loving JasOn... ❤❤❤❤
Wow Jason, that is a SPECIAL guitar. Lets jam. Rock on!!!
Will you go home with me?
@@JasonMomoaNamakaeha Sure dude !!!! I gotta nack for catchy hooks. Rock on!!!!
