There's this enormous friend chemistry between them. Friends when they win, friends even more when they lose. They're kids. Getting a whole lot more attention than kids normally do in this game. Wish they'd won, but this is a really nice interview. I'd say they're a better team than the Wings, but it's like the Wings have what they used to call the Indian Sign on them. None of the teams in this league should be taken for granted. This isn't Globetrotters ball, and nobody is playing the Washington Generals. No, not even the Mystics. And Caitlin is right, the team is building itself, and that's not the work of one season.
Another defeat to a team the Fever were "meant" to beat. For me, it once again shows that any team can beat any team. And in both of those loses the other teams played very well (better than their "form" would suggest.). The reason for this is simple. The Fever brings the sell-out crowds which create a cup final atmosphere. Just another thing this young team will have to contend with.

The chemistry is insane for these two at 26 games. They going to be so good, but the coach needs to build around them in the off season. This Fever franchise could be so good in the near future if you get the right pieces.

@@franklinlewisii9719 What type of idiot focuses on one play and ignores the rest of the game? Via scores and assists, Caitlin was the one who caused most of the points that were scored for her team. Did you miss the fact that she played 40 minutes while other players were able to take breaks? Two things hurt the game the most. AB had to be off the court too long after her third foul. When she left the court I noticed she was limping. Thankfully whatever was wrong was able to be treated and she eventually was able to be put back in the game. During the time she was gone was when things went to shit on the court. The play-chemistry between CC and AB is a huge factor in the team's offense, and AB is probably their best defender too. What hurt the Fever the most was Smith. Usually she does okay, but this time she couldn't do anything right. I lost count of the dropped passes, fumbled dribbles, missed shots, missed layups, and she didn't even get many rebounds. Caitlin kept getting the ball to her but no play-flow was happening. It didn't start happening again until AB got back on the court. The biggest problem with Smith is a lack of consistency. One night she plays well and one night she plays like a crippled duck. It's frustrating to watch.

They are the youngest team in the league. They all play hard, fun to watch. About the most fun to watch in the W. Enjoy the break. Get them in the second half. The progress so far is incredible.
I agree about the amount of progress. The best progress has been in the amount of play-chemistry between Clark and Bond. If Smith can get her act together and get in on the chemistry, the three ladies would be able to be called "The Triangle of Death". Imagine if Smith and Bond could get to the point where they dominate the paint together with Caitlin feeding them the ball. If you have that going on with Caitlin also able to distance-score, they'd be formidable.

I also remember draft night when Lobo said "this is a great pick (Caitlin) but expectations are too high, this team has no chance to make the playoffs." @@michaelrosencrants9177 You make some good points. I agree with you about the progress of the team being impressive. I also don't have any expectations regarding the playoffs. I'm very interested to see if two things happen. I want to see how much the ball-handling improves for the team after the period of practices they'll have during the Olympic Break. One of their major hurdles has been lack of practices due to them getting slammed with a hellacious schedule right at the beginning of the season. The three players that I'm hoping practice will settle their "fumble fingers" problems are Lexi, Katie Lou, and Nalyssa. If that happens, the play-flow of the team will drastically improve with less fumbled pass-catches, dribble disasters, and turnovers. The second thing will be how Temi does when she's back. She's healed enough that she's practicing with the team and I think it was a couple of weeks ago when that happened. If she's able to play after the break and can mesh with Caitlin as well as Aliyah is doing, I'll be able to stop having panic attacks when Sides puts Erica in. During one game she was playing so awful that I told my wife, "If I could get away with it, I'd sneak into the next game and superglue Wheeler's butt to the bench." She about died laughing.

Game management at the end was questionable again. No reset time-out or was it not available? If they were going to foul on one of those last plays, why did Mitchell wait so long? Dallas disrupted the Fever early, and a time-out early in the game (before half time) would have been a good time for adjustments coach. None of the players were hitting tonight, except Boston, and there were too many turnovers by everyone. It was a big ask for Boston to keep hammering down low, she did great. Clark fought hard. Smith is hot and cold. She is one of the few that will rebound, but slacks off on defense. Dantas does not appear to be a defensive threat. Playing the group of Clark, Dantas, Samuelson, Hull and Wheeler is just...weird.
At about 10:21 she raved about Clark, so while I share a bit of the collective angst about Sides, I would say she seem up to send up some genuine praise.
I actually don’t want a coach to overly single out one player. I think Sides speaks appropriately in this post-game. More importantly, I don’t think Caitlyn cares much about praise. She just wants Ws.

It was a good coached game,,, the players couldn't hit open shots even CC missed 3-4 open 3's herself,, and the team defense and team turnovers hurt them,,
They are only 2 of themplayers on the court at any one time.....there are 5 players and they all need to produce, stop missing Caitlins passes, start converting to passes into buckets and good things will happen. But props to the wings they played an awesome game and deserved the win.
So Sides goes from stubbornly starting Kristy Wallace most of the season and defending that decision at press conferences, to now not being able to find one minute for her to play?? Sides is just off as a coach. Things don't seem balanced, there's no rhyme or reason to what she does. If we feel that way as fans, how must the players feel??
Dallas was getting their shots to fall , Indiana was having issues getting their open shots to fall . Clark should have had assists in the mid 20's if they could have knocked down some of their open shots . Dallas was shooting 50% in the first half . What was going on with Smith tonight ? Starts off with a double dribble and a travel . Then couldn't make layups and just struggled all night .
Scott, what will it take to get Sides fired? She obviously is not up to the task. Also what will it take to get Lin Dunn removed as she can't get 12 good players. Other than CC and AB it's pretty slim.
Just keep working on defense, steals, and cutting down on the turn-overs. The team is slowly coming together as a team from where they were the beginning of the season.
She has a jumper but her desire to get brick layers involved in the offense when she herself is close to the basket is not good for the team. The nice person attitude has to be situational because it hurt the team this game.
Her mid-range game needs work for sure. But she is like a lot of present NBA and WNBA players. They can shoot the 3, but do not have the tools to make a 15 to 18 footer. But, unfortunately, that is the way the players are taught nowadays.

Nalyssa Smith had like 4 unforced turnovers just trying to dribble with no one around her and got blocked twice. Nalyssa is crazy athletic but lacks fundamental bball iq to shield the ball with her body when dribbling and shooting. And if Sides can't develop her, find a coach that can.

I know it seems a bit harsh concerning the coach - There are just so many times you could see decisions from last year just employed with no real thought or attempted accommodation - It's taken almost 15 games for the coach just to allow more room for them to actually jell - Just too obvious, that's all - Anyone who's played even basic highschool ball can see what's going on.
The teams at the lower end of the table are getting better and better. They've learned a lot to play better after those tough multiple losses they had.

Yes! I’d love to see her at the #1 and CC at the #2. That would really open things up! Mitchell is a black hole whenever she gets the ball, which makes her predictable and easily defended. Let Wheeler slide further down the bench too.
Fever are best with Clark at the 1 and driving the bus. Trouble with Mitchell is when she forgets that she should be playing off Clark. When she plays off Clark she invariably gets open looks for drives or 3 pointers
The coach is always detaining Clark until their opponent eats their points...if they are ahead by 30 points...the longer the coach will detain Clark...if its 10 she will still be locked up in the sideways...ha ha ha. It's as if the coach is selling the game to their opponent.
CC didnt take one shot in the last 5 min, she has to take more shots to finish these games, she beats players then hesitates or throws the ball back out after driving to the rim. CC had tons of open looks and deferred to a teamate who misses. Very cool assist record but a winnable game if she tried shooting at all in the last 5min 😖

I just watched the whole interview and I disagree with all the anti-Sides sentiment, and anti anyone but CC sentiment. Fact is the Fever had some chances to win this, they had some crucial turnovers and crucial missed wide-open shots. It was a close, exciting game. I think they are all doing a good job. The people who don't like Sides and don't like Erica Wheeler and Kelsey Mitchell are people who are expecting a basketball team that was one of the worst in the league last season, to suddenly be the best team in the league. The Fever are playing well together and progressing well as a team. They are doing great. Remember when Michael Jordan joined the Chicago Bulls, it took several seasons of not making the playoffs, getting eliminated in the playoffs, lessons learned and building the team with new drafts and/or trades, free agent acqusitions, etc. Then finally in 1991 they got their first Ring. So let's just keep our faith and keep watching the game, and not be so hard on folks. Stop with the armchair coaching.

Fever team is not very good. They need to make a couple key trades now. Clarks 3 point shot is off. Seems that way since ear drum injury. Other than that Clark is unreal overall game wise. Take advantage at break, fire coach and use 4 weeks to get new coach system in place. If not, no playoffs this year with Sides coaching. The defensive expert coach 😊

@@franklinlewisii9719 What type of idiot focuses on one play and ignores the rest of the game? Via scores and assists, Caitlin was the one who caused most of the points that were scored for her team. Did you miss the fact that she played 40 minutes while other players were able to take breaks?
Two things hurt the game the most. AB had to be off the court too long after her third foul. When she left the court I noticed she was limping. Thankfully whatever was wrong was able to be treated and she eventually was able to be put back in the game. During the time she was gone was when things went to shit on the court. The play-chemistry between CC and AB is a huge factor in the team's offense, and AB is probably their best defender too.
What hurt the Fever the most was Smith. Usually she does okay, but this time she couldn't do anything right. I lost count of the dropped passes, fumbled dribbles, missed shots, missed layups, and she didn't even get many rebounds. Caitlin kept getting the ball to her but no play-flow was happening. It didn't start happening again until AB got back on the court. The biggest problem with Smith is a lack of consistency. One night she plays well and one night she plays like a crippled duck. It's frustrating to watch.
I dont mind Dantes and Boston together. They both have the ability to hit the wide open 3 on offense and snag rebounds on defense.

They are the youngest team in the league. They all play hard, fun to watch. About the most fun to watch in the W. Enjoy the break. Get them in the second half. The progress so far is incredible.
I agree about the amount of progress. The best progress has been in the amount of play-chemistry between Clark and Bond. If Smith can get her act together and get in on the chemistry, the three ladies would be able to be called "The Triangle of Death". Imagine if Smith and Bond could get to the point where they dominate the paint together with Caitlin feeding them the ball. If you have that going on with Caitlin also able to distance-score, they'd be formidable.
@@lakelanddentalarts I really think a lot of the flak Nalyssa gets is caused by her demeanor. She's just not expressive like Cait and AB or even Kelsey. I get what you are saying but think their chemistry on court is better than people think. I also think Temi getting hurt really hurt this team. She and Caitlin were gelling. I also remember draft night when Lobo said "this is a great pick (Caitlin) but expectations are too high, this team has no chance to make the playoffs." I appreciate where we are it's really impressive.

I'm very interested to see if two things happen. I want to see how much the ball-handling improves for the team after the period of practices they'll have during the Olympic Break. One of their major hurdles has been lack of practices due to them getting slammed with a hellacious schedule right at the beginning of the season. The three players that I'm hoping practice will settle their "fumble fingers" problems are Lexi, Katie Lou, and Nalyssa. If that happens, the play-flow of the team will drastically improve with less fumbled pass-catches, dribble disasters, and turnovers.
The second thing will be how Temi does when she's back. She's healed enough that she's practicing with the team and I think it was a couple of weeks ago when that happened. If she's able to play after the break and can mesh with Caitlin as well as Aliyah is doing, I'll be able to stop having panic attacks when Sides puts Erica in. During one game she was playing so awful that I told my wife, "If I could get away with it, I'd sneak into the next game and superglue Wheeler's butt to the bench." She about died laughing.
@@lakelanddentalarts Spot on. Ewheezy may be a carnival but remember when she was starting Wallace? The thing about Erica is that at least she shows emotion, you know she is making an effort. I think she just gets going faster than she she has the physical ability and has a lot of "oh shit" moments. I'll be watching for your points in the second half. It should be a fun run to the playoffs.
Game management at the end was questionable again. No reset time-out or was it not available? If they were going to foul on one of those last plays, why did Mitchell wait so long? Dallas disrupted the Fever early, and a time-out early in the game (before half time) would have been a good time for adjustments coach. None of the players were hitting tonight, except Boston, and there were too many turnovers by everyone. It was a big ask for Boston to keep hammering down low, she did great. Clark fought hard. Smith is hot and cold. She is one of the few that will rebound, but slacks off on defense. Dantas does not appear to be a defensive threat. Playing the group of Clark, Dantas, Samuelson, Hull and Wheeler is just...weird.

Dallas was getting their shots to fall , Indiana was having issues getting their open shots to fall . Clark should have had assists in the mid 20's if they could have knocked down some of their open shots . Dallas was shooting 50% in the first half . What was going on with Smith tonight ? Starts off with a double dribble and a travel . Then couldn't make layups and just struggled all night .

Just keep working on defense, steals, and cutting down on the turn-overs. The team is slowly coming together as a team from where they were the beginning of the season.
You can't win them all but they always give it a fight. That sweatshirt looks really great on AB. They absolutely are an amazing team.

She has a jumper but her desire to get brick layers involved in the offense when she herself is close to the basket is not good for the team. The nice person attitude has to be situational because it hurt the team this game.
Her mid-range game needs work for sure. But she is like a lot of present NBA and WNBA players. They can shoot the 3, but do not have the tools to make a 15 to 18 footer. But, unfortunately, that is the way the players are taught nowadays.

Nalyssa Smith had like 4 unforced turnovers just trying to dribble with no one around her and got blocked twice. Nalyssa is crazy athletic but lacks fundamental bball iq to shield the ball with her body when dribbling and shooting. And if Sides can't develop her, find a coach that can.

These two are just so much fun to watch! I actually think Coach Sides is helping this team improve. People are way too quick to criticize. It takes time for a young team to improve.
I know it seems a bit harsh concerning the coach - There are just so many times you could see decisions from last year just employed with no real thought or attempted accommodation - It's taken almost 15 games for the coach just to allow more room for them to actually jell - Just too obvious, that's all - Anyone who's played even basic highschool ball can see what's going on.
The teams at the lower end of the table are getting better and better. They've learned a lot to play better after those tough multiple losses they had.

Liked the effort tonight. Just got to continue to work and get better. Great pick and roll offense with CC and AB. Hopefully will be able to shoot a little better next opportunity.

Yes! I’d love to see her at the #1 and CC at the #2. That would really open things up! Mitchell is a black hole whenever she gets the ball, which makes her predictable and easily defended. Let Wheeler slide further down the bench too.

The coach is always detaining Clark until their opponent eats their points...if they are ahead by 30 points...the longer the coach will detain Clark...if its 10 she will still be locked up in the sideways...ha ha ha. It's as if the coach is selling the game to their opponent.

CC didnt take one shot in the last 5 min, she has to take more shots to finish these games, she beats players then hesitates or throws the ball back out after driving to the rim. CC had tons of open looks and deferred to a teamate who misses. Very cool assist record but a winnable game if she tried shooting at all in the last 5min 😖

I just watched the whole interview and I disagree with all the anti-Sides sentiment, and anti anyone but CC sentiment.
Fact is the Fever had some chances to win this, they had some crucial turnovers and crucial missed wide-open shots. It was a close, exciting game. I think they are all doing a good job. The people who don't like Sides and don't like Erica Wheeler and Kelsey Mitchell are people who are expecting a basketball team that was one of the worst in the league last season, to suddenly be the best team in the league. The Fever are playing well together and progressing well as a team. They are doing great.
Remember when Michael Jordan joined the Chicago Bulls, it took several seasons of not making the playoffs, getting eliminated in the playoffs, lessons learned and building the team with new drafts and/or trades, free agent acqusitions, etc. Then finally in 1991 they got their first Ring. So let's just keep our faith and keep watching the game, and not be so hard on folks. Stop with the armchair coaching.

Clarks 3 point shot is off. Seems that way since ear drum injury. Other than that Clark is unreal overall game wise. Take advantage at break, fire coach and use 4 weeks to get new coach system in place. If not, no playoffs this year with Sides coaching. The defensive expert coach 😊
