I know y’all are dealing with a lot of stress and that you’re still in the thick of it with this whole situation, but you truly seem so at ease here. You appear unified and full of positivity right now and it is really enjoyable and encouraging to watch. I am really rooting for you and I am feeling the urge to tackle my own finances and clutter and ALL of my 💩. You guys are awesome to share this process with us.
I seriously have been loving this whole series, monday my husband and I paid off a huge debt and the feeling is so refreshing still not out of the water but we are now in the shallow end. Were even going to use the budget chart for other things, now that we are current.
I just wanted to thank you for letting us in on this journey....I know it might not feel like it but you are helping others to wake up and take accountability for their finances...it can't be easy to put it all out so publicly...God bless and I am still praying for your house to sell.....
I love how Cullen hadn't seen the numbers yet so it was 100% his honest reaction! It's crazy to go back and see what you were doing/not doing during a 'brain fog' once you get out of it. Good for y'all! Been loving this series :)
You guys should totally start a podcast and talk about all of this as well as parenting/relationship stuff. I’m loving these debt videos, because I am doing the same thing. It’s nice to know your not alone in this battle/journey
I just love y'all's energy. I can just sense how much you love eachother even when you're going through it. At least you're going through it, together. You two balance eachother out and compliment eachother perfectly and it makes my heart happy to witness it. Thank you for sharing your lives with us. ❤
There are several very popular young family oriented UA-cam channels that, I can literally see doing the same thing you guys did. I keep asking if they’re watching your videos 😍
Thank you for this!! Your honesty is so helpful. It makes us realize how normal it has become to not say “no” to ourselves and just live above our means. Loving this series
The mindset that “oh it’s on sale” is really detrimental. Just because it’s on sale doesn’t mean you need to buy it. If something is regularly $700 and it’s on sale for $500, you didn’t save $200... you spent $200
Like you said, the house really isn’t the problem, the spending was. But you’ve reigned that in now and keeping hold of the house will slow the journey of getting out of debt but won’t stop you getting out of debt. I’d be less panicked about selling the house quickly and focus on keeping on with the budgetary changes you’ve made the past month or so. Praying for you, cheering you on and LOVING this series xxx
Another great one. You guys doing this are going to help so many people not put themselves in the same position that you have found yourselves in. So glad you are heading in the right direction and you have so much support from all of us watching 💗💗💗
I had 400 budgeted for food for January this year and looking at our bank statements we spent 698.00 now we are keeping better track! I've been watching the old show "til debt do us part" here on youtube. It's opened my eyes on how easy it is to not realize where the money is going. Thank you for keeping it real for us!
Poor Cullen going through his stages of grief. The best part is that you and Katie are turning things around .I’m sure that ya’ll are helping so many people by posting these videos.
I have been watching all your budget videos and it prompted me to start a chore chart for my 4 year old son and he is LOVING it!!! Not only is it giving him the freedom to be able to have his own money to buy thing. But it has taught him so much about where money comes from and to actually appreciate it! So thanks to y'all! I have been loving this content!!❤
I’m curious, did your parents ever ask you (out of love) if you’re finances were okay during this time of over-spending? I know you’re very close and wonder if they were worried about you. Good luck with you’re debt-free journey.
Thanks for doing these! I have started really paying attention since you guys started this and you have really helped me. Keep sharing please, you are helping people!
That’s it I’m officially closing my kohl’s card. It’s always the top of my snowball and I’ll end up shopping there again because of stupid coupons. Although I pay it off it was NOT budgeted for so I never make progress on the rest of my debts. I’ve been afraid to close because it’s my oldest credit account but screw it! Closing that sucker!
Good job! But $700 in groceries is still just so much for a family like yours (# and age of kids), especially if you still have stuff in your pantry. I spend about $400 for my family of 4 (including 2 teenaged boys), and we only eat out about 1x per week. But I know it's a process. You'll get there! Gazelle intense!!
I highly recommend Chewy for all pet purchases! It’s a subscription service, but it ships to your door on a frequency that makes sense to your pet. Also free shipping over 50!
Katie & Cullen...y'all are doing so amazing....a whole new MINDSET!!! You are LEARNING so much about WHERE your money is going and WHERE to put it!!! I am proud of y'all.💖 Keep doing what y'all doing! 😉👍 It IS eye opening! 👀
I love these vids because i feel like everyone on youtube throws money around like its frickin confetti and it is so unrelatable and frustrating 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻 love yall you go. Also I have 0 money to budget because I am a new grad that is unemployed hoowwweverrrr once i’m employed I will be using alll the tips 😎
Loved this! Makes such good content to see how things were to now. Your absolutely smashing it and giving me and so many others so much motivation. For the first time in 12 years married my husband and I sat down and said let’s just see where the money goes and this month we’re going to control that money!
new subscriber here.. love this series.. I have kept track the last 2 years of our spending on junk and it is very eye opening!!! this year will be less!!!!!
Great video. Every week we do a weekly budget to go with our monthly plan. In a notebook I write out what we are spending in each category, then I total it for what we need in cash. Each week I get what I also need for my Sinking Funds. I also put my totals on Every Dollar.
This series is so awesome. You don’t know how much you spend until you see all the statements. I am so glad this has been eye opening for you. I am sure you have helped so many people with their debt journey.
I think the comparing last years spendings you this years spending videos are probably my favorite of this series! It’s crazy to see where all your money goes. It amazes me when I look back. I’ve really enjoyed this series and so glad you guys are getting back on the right track! Praying for you and your family through this chapter of your life! The only debt I have now is my student loans because I just paid off my last credit card I had. Your videos have motivated me to get my debt paid off!!
You could make a spreadsheet on the computer of all your spending for the month and categorize it every month to make it easier to look back. This experience is really eye opening for a lot of people! You’re doing a great job!
I'll be curious to see how your summer months compare. We always tend to spend more in the summer, especially entertainment and food. Great video y'all!
So glad you have turned the corner financially! Can you resell those kids shoes? If they are barely used someone would love to get those for half off of what you paid.
Love love love you guys and this series! Currently a college student in nursing school racking up the student loans!!! Went back and looked at my credit card last month and holy $hittzzz spent way to much money going out to eat or stopping at fast food! Keep up the great work! You’re motivating all of us!
I used to watch when I was pregnant and for at least two years after I had my son, going back to work and taking care of my son took me away from UA-cam for a long time. Fast forward and now I’m married to a great guy, and we’re currently trying to get better with our finances. I was on UA-cam late one sleepless night and thought of you guys and looked your channel up. Only to realize you guys just started this series. So I’ve been following along on your journey at the same time we’re going through our journey. I wish the best for you guys and cannot believe how big your babies are. Time flies fast and I’m glad to see you guys doing well and sticking to your plans. Love you both ❤️
I can totally understand how the takeaway can add up quickly but my mind is blown away by the amount you spent on groceries! Where the heck were you shopping? Thanks for the video and sharing all the information 🧡
When we first decided to start budgeting, I added up all of our categories from the previous 6 months. Very eye opening! We didn’t have any debt other than our home, but we weren’t really getting ahead since we weren’t paying any attention to anything. We’ve been budgeting for four years now and we are doing so much better!
They have water shoes at Target that look like Natives for $12.99!! My son wore them last year and I just bought the next size up for him for this summer and they’re so cute and comfy for him :)
Oh man thanks for putting all the numbers out their honestly! This is going to be a big help to people! Let's all stop living above our means! I'm 59 yrs old but this kinda video is still so helpful...every age brings different spending pressures! My forever goal....live below my means and cash is king! Love it!💪👍💖🇨🇦
TRUST ME been there done THAT!!! This video took me back to that place and I remember the agony! Thanks for the reminder! I know when my husband would “fall off the wagon” I would spend like that to make myself feel better! UNTIL THE BILL CAME! Not to mention the crap I accumulated! You guys are such an inspiration!!!! THANK YOU!!!
This series has been so eye opening for me! I always said that I’ll just swipe my card because I know the money is there and now that I’m planning a wedding it’s like... oh 💩 that money isn’t there! Being in my mid 20’s I’m so grateful I have you guys to listen to and talk to my fiancé about smart spending and savings so that way we don’t get into debt. I love y’all both so much! I’m so happy for your progress thus far!
God bless y’all. I’m so glad that you finally woke up. It’s crazy though because we all were there once. Just be glad you figured out before you lost control of everything.
My husband and I have been budgeting since the middle of January and wow, it makes a HUGE difference and we’ve saved so much money. Before we would just go and get whatever we needed or wanted (within reason) and at the end of the week he would do the budget and say we spent ‘x’ amount of dollars and I would be like, HOW! On WHAT!? All the little trips to the store getting things here and there and eating out adds up so quick and you don’t even realize it! My only regret is that we didn’t start budgeting and sticking to it sooner. Definitely a learning and eye opening experience! So appreciative of y’all making these videos because it keeps me motivated to not give up!
I was hoping you could make a weekly video with what you sold on Facebook. I've been really hitting the Facebook groups hard selling stuff to pay extra on debt and watching those videos from you guys is so motivating! Makes me think of similar stuff we have to sell I hadn't thought of!
Loving this series and how real you all are! Your own journey has inspired me to start my own journey to being debt free from student loans! So THANK YOU! You both are amazing and so inspirational (not just about finances)
This is sooo helpful! Me and my husband can relate to mindless spending and have been in your position. We’d be at the end of the month and say where did our money go because we make decent money. Keep doing these videos!
Great video series!!! I have that same bed set!! We gave $ 299 just for the he bedset! Love your videos and thankful you have done amazingly well with your budget!
I respect y’all so much in doing all of this work and sharing the honest truth with all of us. Its inspiring me to pay more attention to my own finances, so thank you! ☺️
That's crazy!!!! I found a credit card bill showing I spent $800 one month at Academy Sports. I didn't purchase equipment so I guess I purchased $800 of exercising clothing that I no longer own. Now exercise clothes come off the Khol's clearance rack or Marshall's.
ROFL!! For Real. The mental picture of Cullen running around outside pantless screaming about debt is CRACKING ME UP!! Good that its from realizing PAST foolishness instead on new debt balances. (wonder how you would have reacted if you knew it was like this last year)
I love this series. Thanks so much for sharing and being quite honest. Just a little side note...I had Kohl's cash! I feel like I'm on a circle that never ends....Usually I give it away to my daughter or neighbor. Love you guys! Hang in there!
Good lord, all that money on clothes! I hardly buy anything new. I love thrift stores! If you really look, you can get name brand stuff for great prices. I’ve gotten so much name brand clothes at thrift stores. If I buy any clothes from someplace like Target or Walmart, I only shop the clearance racks.
Loving these videos! It has opened my eyes to my family’s spending and saving. I would love to see something like “what we eat in a week”. Since you previously had spent so much eating out monthly - what does your breakfast, lunch and dinners look for everyone now that you rarely eat out?
I must say I used to watch you at the old house and I stopped because I felt like you guys changed to much. I started watching you again on this journey and I feel like your going back to your old selfs which is a good thing. This journey is changing you in many ways. Keep going!
See if Sun-In will lighten your hair! I have natural ashy dark brown-blonde (is that a hair color lol?) hair like Katie’s and it lightens my hair to an awesome blonde color! Just try an inconspicuous spot first because it works differently on everyone’s hair. You can use the sun or a hair dryer. It could be fun for Gaines and brooks too
When I was living in Alabama I used to shop from dirt cheap for the clothes especially for kids. We were able to find nice brands with very good price tags like as low as %90 off. Highly recommend!
Holy moly, Katie done up and spent more than my mortgage, gas, and water bill combined on clothes. She musta been looking fly as hell, lol! I don't mean to tease ya Katie!
It really doesn't matter if your cards are in the freezer, stores just look up your number for you. The really sad part part is, if you close your accounts, it hurts your credit score
Can you link us to the light dimmers? Dont see it in your amazon store...
thanks for the reminder! they're added to "our favorite things" in our amazon store!

I see other vloggers spending money like crazy & I wonder when the situation you are going through now will happen to them.
Billie Allen yes!! I often want to warn them but it’s so not my business but I worry for them!!
I prefer Katie’s hair darker anyways!
Me too. It looks really pretty and healthy.
I 100% agree, I actually think she looks younger with darker hair (not that she looks old)! She is glowing ;)
I just wanted to thank you for letting us in on this journey....I know it might not feel like it but you are helping others to wake up and take accountability for their finances...it can't be easy to put it all out so publicly...God bless and I am still praying for your house to sell.....

Amanda Lewis we started doing this when my kids were little and now they know how to make money! Work for it!

When you’re in survival mode the rest of your life can get so out of control. This is so common and it happens so fast.
You're so open and honest and humble about all of this.
Please know you are not alone. Thank you for sharing your journey and I'm a BIG fan. Blessings to your family!
Thanks for doing these! I have started really paying attention since you guys started this and you have really helped me. Keep sharing please, you are helping people!
Your vlog times are so good for Aussie subs....11am Saturday here...👌🕚🌞🌈
Comparing spending from last yr to this yr is the most brilliant idea !!

Cullen laying down on the floor: “y’all have fun talking about this crap” 🤣🤣🤣

It's completely eye opening to look back and see how much money you've wasted. Don't dwell on it, but learn from it. You guys are doing great! 💕👍🏼
My kids are rolling around in $2.50 crocs from dollar general. 😂😂😂😂😂 loving the series guys!
Goodness! This was so interesting to watch. Thank you for sharing. You are doing so well!
Try categorizing with your bank. I can select what debit goes into what category with my bank. That would let you go back further if you can do that.
I used to watch when I was pregnant and for at least two years after I had my son, going back to work and taking care of my son took me away from UA-cam for a long time. I love the look on Cullens face when you were reading last yrs eating out amount lol
I can totally understand how the takeaway can add up quickly but my mind is blown away by the amount you spent on groceries! Where the heck were you shopping?
Thanks for the video and sharing all the information 🧡
Good Lord, y'all are reminding me why I only shop at thrift stores! 😂
When we first decided to start budgeting, I added up all of our categories from the previous 6 months. Very eye opening! We didn’t have any debt other than our home, but we weren’t really getting ahead since we weren’t paying any attention to anything. They have water shoes at Target that look like Natives for $12.99!! My son wore them last year and I just bought the next size up for him for this summer and they’re so cute and comfy for him :)
I love y’all’s transparency. It’s so real and so inspiring. Love you guys! ❤️
“Your little $200 at the fish tank place is nothin” 😂
This series has been so eye opening for me! I always said that I’ll just swipe my card because I know the money is there and now that I’m planning a wedding it’s like... oh 💩 that money isn’t there! Being in my mid 20’s I’m so grateful I have you guys to listen to and talk to my fiancé about smart spending and savings so that way we don’t get into debt. I love y’all both so much! God bless y’all. I’m so glad that you finally woke up. It’s crazy though because we all were there once. Just be glad you figured out before you lost control of everything.
As someone on a tight budget these numbers blew my mind! Little charges add up fast! I don’t even spent 3k on clothes in one year! Yikes!
I love these videos! I really want to print out my statements from last year and look at our spending! Talk about motivation to keep going.
you guys are killing it!! These videos are so helpful!!! Thank you
That moment when Cullen laughs 20:53 because he doesn't wanna cry😩
It’s 01:05 am here and before I go to sleep I will watch, so excited to see how you changed your expenses ! I live those videos
Something crazy to think about; all the money you spent on clothes, you have probably already decluttered it by now
My husband and I have been budgeting since the middle of January and wow, it makes a HUGE difference and we’ve saved so much money.
Please keep doing these videos, It’s amazing.
Gosh thank you so so much for sharing all of this!! Definitely motivates me to keep a close eye on our spending.
Cullens reaction to the clothing😂
I find all of my daughter’s Natives at Goodwill for 99 cents! I soak them in warm soapy water and clean with a magic eraser. They are as good as new!
$800 for groceries is still crazy!! You have two small kids that eat chicken nuggets. 😂
I have just started my budgeting journey. You were an inspiration!
Save your receipts when you spend the cash and put it in the envelopes and then you can add it up to compare at the end of the month
yes, good thought! we're always replacing the cash with the receipts naturally in the envelopes anyway!
I go 10 months at a time without buying clothes or shoes. The only thing we had to buy was a pair of shoes for our kids.
This inspired me!!! I want to look back on all of our stuff now!!
Some folks in our area don't make 12,000.00 in a year
ROFL!! For Real. The mental picture of Cullen running around outside pantless screaming about debt is CRACKING ME UP!! Good that its from realizing PAST foolishness instead on new debt balances. (wonder how you would have reacted if you knew it was like this last year)
Love u guys from Canada.. you guys are so inspirational..
I love this series. Thanks so much for sharing and being quite honest. Just a little side note...I had Kohl's cash! I feel like I'm on a circle that never ends....Usually I give it away to my daughter or neighbor. Love you guys! Hang in there!
Thank you for sharing! I love this series.
crazy isnt it? i am on a low buy this year and an focusing on paying off debt. i hear what you are saying and feeling. keep up the good work!

Im curious about how much ya’ll spend on health insurance? This is a huge budget buster for me with really no way to make it different.
It could be fun for Gaines and brooks too
$6 Amazon purchase was that yard saint statue dude. U can tell us cuz we already know 😅😅😅
I am starting a budget. I have no debt but I can be so frivolous and your videos are inspiring. 🥰
We just finished our March budget meeting! We should go back to last year's as well! Thank you for sharing your journey
I love y'all for making these videos! I am really going to start keeping track of how much money I am spending on eating out and other things!!
It really doesn't matter if your cards are in the freezer, stores just look up your number for you. The really sad part part is, if you close your accounts, it hurts your credit score
