Thank you for this vid. I'm a beginner that's been out 3 times now in my first 5 days of owning my iSUP. I've watched a bunch of SUP stroke technique videos but this is the one that sinks in best.
The lesson translates well into video, and I enjoyed the two coaches complementary styles.
Good to hear🙏👍
I've had my board a year and now totally understand what they are talking about now. Learning to steer in all kinds of conditions. Time on the water will teach you every stroke can't be text book. There is a lot of improvising due to conditions and muscle fatigue. Sometimes the right stroke is ugly.
Yes but the right stroke is not ugly, just practical
my stroke gets 'ugly' when the water spraying off the front of my board hits my face as im yelling into the wind!
Yes, years later still a valid comment. Had to do show some ugly strokes today for two miles going into a nasty more-than-predicted side wind. It was just pure improvising against fatigue and remaining my heading. The arrival was sweet though…
I kneel down on my board in a headwind and works great.
+Trail FisHer Yes, kneeling or even prone paddling will reduce wind resistance.
I see you Candice. Just got a board I am so excited can't wait to take it out
this video helped me a ton, thank you!
Awesome, great to hear!
heading out to the huron river in 18mph winds today. i wanted to paddle around belle isle in the detroit river today but, after looking at the whitecaps on the live webcam, i think its too early in my paddle season [maybe 6 or 7 months of paddle weather yearly here] to have the requisite level of beast mode. so glad that i found this video! i will definitely be incorporating your tips on blade angle, weight leaning, and staggered stance. wherever you are looks super beautiful. im guessing its one of the hawaiian islands and in another life, id have the crazy desire to do an island crossing. cheers to you all from the great lakes and rivers of michigan! [btw, lol, i cringe every time i hear a paddle blade hit the gravel! like fingernails on a chalk board!] anyhoo... with such useful info, im gonna subscribe to ya. thanks!
Awesome, thanks for the comment and have a great paddle! 🤙🏼
Thanks, I'm gonna try this next time when the wind is blowing me off my course.
