Isolating Wahington on a one on one in the red zone against a guy 8 inches shorter is quite simple in the redzone. Did we forget how effortless that TD was early in the year?
Justin in the Red Zone is a treat to run; Wilson is not, This ABSOLUTELY benefits the RB's chances!
If Russ is the better QB and gives Pittsburgh the best chance to win, he should not come out of the game. Tomlin and Author should find a way to succeed with Russ. If Russ can't get it done in the red zone and playoffs, then the organization should go with the younger QB Fields for the future.
Don’t forget the TDs Pickens dropped in the redzone against the Colts and Raiders. Also fumbled ball inside 5 against Colts.
Put both in same time.
Steelers need to use Washington or Freiermuth alot more for sure
We have an all around short yardage situation that has to be fixed.
Simple fix for the red zone, actually use our best players… there’s no reason to be in the red zone and use Patterson at RB, Mycole Pruitt, Ben Skoronick, Conor Heyward,or Van Jefferson… the only players that should be getting red zone reps would be Pickens, Williams, Austin, Muth, Washington, Najee, or Warren. Done.
Way less 2nd and 9 runs, way more quick throws instead getting 4 or 5 yards to make a 3rd and 4, najee needs to just hit holes and not dance around, tomlin needs to do a better job at clock management.
Also our recievers NEED to do a better job at helping the qb when the pocket breaks down
I don't think Wilson can see over the center. It's a big problem.
Thank you Matt. Fields is better at avoiding the sack and run. When he runs the ball it should not be predictable. Line up for the pass. There are times when Fields does not need to play. Great show Matt
Great job, Matt. What is the #1 priority? Fix the offensive line. We must protect our quarterback. All quarterbacks need time to assess the field.
Wilson has held the ball longer than other QBs. Advantage for a long pass. Also advantage for the pass rush.
I wish they'd use TEs out of run look formations as a way to take defenders out of the box to give RBs some room. Looks like a run, then hit Pat or Darnell up the seam after a chip on an Edge. Conversely a few more draws out of spread formations to allow runners a lighter box to run through. Add these plays and subtract some of the east west pitches if the defense isn't bunching in the middle.
In basketball if a guy can’t make free throws at the end of the game you take him out on offense even if he is the better player….Russ can score 20 yards and out….Fields seems to score 20 yards and in….Ames sense…can’t throw moon balls inside the 20….Fields throws tight and hard ….and runs!!!
need to seriously consider the coaching since the O line is not improving much.
With all this said and it’s facts our we delusional when fans say we can contend in playoffs or make it to Super Bowl. We have horrible oline poor qb. No real second wide receiver threat. Our coach and game plans or timeouts used lol good luck 🍀
Fields presenting a running threat is what helps him in the redzone. not only can the rb on the ground but so can the QB. their have been a handful of plays outside the redzone where youcan see green grass infront of wilson and as his coaches and im sure he prefers he throws it when fields would probably tear off a huge gain also. do we care how we get down the field? do the pros and cons outweight each other between wilson and fields. wilson has only lost one game so far and this weekend vs the bengals will show any warts on this team even more.
Russ has not hit Pickens in stride on a slant once this season.
Russ is short and has trouble finding/seeing receivers in the middle of the field.

It’s ok for fields to come in once or twice to throw a defense off. But not ok to do it that frequently

If we can't do it clean and flawlessly, it's not worth it. If the correct players don't get on the field, never.

I am not a fan of playing 2 QBs. If they feel like wilson is the best option then he should be out there unless injured.
Fields has a higher completion percentage, more td's and less turnovers. And he can score in the red zone. This is forked-tongue analysis.
What about yards

Benny said the Steelers Offense could score a 2 point conversion at high percentage, any time they wanted. He was on target.
Red Zone TD and 2 point conversion are deftly the same thing!
Before Ben was locked out of the Locker Room the Steeler were one of the best at scoring in the Red Zone? After the Steelers are the worst minus 1 at scoring TDs in the Red Zone? It is highly possible, is it not, that it is the plays that are being called in the Red Zone ,
ARE THE PROBLEM!
Possible Solutions:
1. Lock away the Solutions that did not score so far.
2. Lock away the plays that failed so far.
3. Evaluate every player, formation, blocking scheme that both worked or failed. Can we utilize what worked into what did not?
4. Review and compare film of the teams that we didn't score Red Zone TDs with the film of those of other opponents that did score? What made the difference?
Can we incorporate?
5. Create a new coach assignment with a specific limited set of duties.
Red Zone, Red Flag, Red Clock, called RC for Red Coach who reports to the
HC, OC, DC, using a new, limited, short hand vocabulary suggestion.
Just like the O or D.
a. Red Zone TD.
One of 3 plays isolating our strength vs opponent weakness with 1 audible to draw a positive Ref penalty also.
b. 99% Challenge.
c. Clock management.
RC first choice
Ben Rothlessburger.
Classwork with our QB Room and RC, then RC to OC, DC, ST, HC. Code must be simple and concise and call to HC less than 5 sec. Frees up each coach to their specific job. This will remove the Steelers 3 biggest weaknesses.
You’re hilarious.. all these on breaking routes he’s turning down why do you think the coach isn’t calling them frequently.. blame everyone but the damn elephant being right and being delusional are 2 different things ..

Fields SUCKS as a qb if that's what you're talking about. Kp had better stats than fields through the same amount of game with CANADA as the oc. We all know kp wasn't the guy, but magically you want a qb who is worse than kp.

Really gonna bring up the giants game when they had multiple red zone touchdowns called back or incomplete when he played it perfectly. clown
How about we just call plays that this offense can actually do WELL. Dont just keep lining up Najee 10 yards deep and running it up the middle on 1st and 2nd downs to just then throw on 3rd. Stop being so predictable. Yes I wish we could just line and run couple times and punch it in every time but we cant and havent been able to for more than a decade.
redzone issues are really a couple to drags from having touchdowns. literally. it's not as bad as it seems.
Fields is not a good quarterback. You have all this talent around the quarterback, and pull the quarterback with a history of success, for a guy will limited abilities for a gimmicky purpose. Fields is the backup and should only be used in case of injury.
