I’m s scratching my head over the decision to have Fields throw that deep ball on 3rd (or was it 4th) and long when a first down would likely win the game. Like you said DK, it’s a 50/50 ball.
The call was already pretty questionable. But especially when you have a much better passer and one of the best deep ball throwers on the sideline. And especially in the weather conditions it makes it even less likely to be completed…you just needed a first down lol. That call was pretty eyebrow raising, or should I say blood boiling rage inducing! Lol.
The running on 1st and 2nd down constantly and predictable is where Matt Canada part comes in. And not having your playmakers in when you're in the red zone is driving me crazy!!!
The personnel decisions are really my biggest issue with Smith. Be it playing Van Jefferson 40 snaps a game (40 too many - Ben Skowronek exists as an actual good blocking WR if that's what you need, not even trying to ease someone you rightly overpaid a bit for in Mike Williams, & having Pickens, Williams, Austin, & 'Muth off the field on money downs sounds to me like a guy who is overthinking himself into poor decisions. The constant deep shots on 3rd/4th & short is an annual occurrence, so I don't think that's a Smith decision. Some say, "the offense is worlds better than it was". I'll grant them that, but it could be even better if the staff avoids overthinking calls to death. It even leads to them getting to the ball late - costing vital timeouts &/or rushing pivotal moments in the game.
Garrett is a talented player. Dan Moore, should have had help if he needed it for that game. Nothing to be ashamed of. Play to be 1 and 0, no matter how you do it. Yes, the Browns acted like they won the Superbowl, and they have the right to crow a little bit. But they defeated the Steelers and when you do that, that's a big deal! The Steelers should look at each game from here on out as a big deal!
"letting them hang around...?"... what game are you talking about?... the Steelers were down 18-3 in the third quarter... the Steelers were not letting anyone "hang around"... sorry, but Tomlin has a long track record of mediocrity and this season will be no different... everything you related about the effort of the team vs Cleveland indicates to me that Tomlin s arrogance once again gets in the way of sound coaching
Happy Thanksgiving and your family's, and to all of Steelers Nation. Be safe!!!
Najee was a really good receiving back in his rookie year with almost 500 yards and 4 TDs. Why did we get away from that.

@Justin_Watson23 I agree 100% with you
0:03 Naj can't block for himself... Warren is effective due to his ability to just go around the line when they don't do their job...
