Madison actually tells CW that last time she sat by a campfire was with the girl scouts. So it's not that unlikely she would have the skills to survive in the wild, nice detail.
Yeah, the movie has those small hints. Another one is the mention of the rain seasons in a completely different context, but it explains how Madison survived.
The only reason Ryan was there was because he was so possessive and controlling of his ex that he stalked her to a new address and broke into her house ☠️ Ryan needed to die for Madison to have an actual happy ending - if CW hadn't ended up being a serial killer this would have been a very different film with Ryan as the villain

One thing I found funny to think about: If Madison met this girl like within the last few days, by herself, in the middle of Thailand with nobody accompanying her, and CW gave that creepy ass speech around the fire on a deserted island far from the mainland, I don't believe madison would just brush it off. I thought the birthmark was a burn scar or something. It's also interesting that it's the actual actress's birthmark and not prosthetics. It definitely worked in her favor for this character.
her birthmark has nothing to do with her character. That's just how she looks. Anyone in this movie could have a birthmark and it wouldn't change anything.
@@djvonchowder1071nah it definitely adds to the character. A girl with a huge unhidable birthmark on her face would probably feel self conscious and therefore angry and vengeful against other more “pretty” girls who flaunt their beauty without even knowing how lucky they are.

I hope to god that this leads to Cassandra Naud getting some much deserved exposure, from what I've seen here, she's fantastic as CW and I loved at the ending, she wasn't even mad, just laughing like a "Shit, you got me."
@@thehitherto5348 I think that's, in a weird way, more chilling than someone flipping their shit or getting upset, because CW did all this horrific stuff and she doesn't even care that she lost, it's like it's all a game to her.

Mad respect for the director cutting the trailer himself! So many editors don't realize how much they ruin the excitement and mystery before the actual release.
I do like that this movie shows the problems and troubles of being a influencer and why sometimes being a influencer isn’t as marvelous as it may seem from the outside looking in
Watched this last week per your recommendation and absolutely loved it!! The pool kill was brutal. When she pulled up to that beach at the end I was soooooo ready for justice.
Yeah same. Was kind of hoping Ryan’s body would also be dumped there so that Madison wouldn’t have to deal with it, but then that would add to CW’s chance of survival haha
It’s so cool to see actors that I grew up watching doing good in their careers and doing big films and tv shows. The actress for Madison I know from a Disney XD show called “Mr. Young” where she played the lead character’s sister named ivy. Knowing her from that and now seeing her in this just makes me happy and proud.
I’ve been watching your older videos and I love seeing your growth. There’s so much emotion to your voice and it sounds less like you’re reading a script. Keep it up James!
I know it’s a super strange thing to point out but the character or the actor herself has some form of martial background. While she was drowning Ryan, she sank her hooks in on him (or in lame man terms; she tucked her legs in front of his knees, preventing his ability to escape and increasing the force of the choke on the neck.)
I did indeed check out Influencer for myself before watching this Kill Count and it was a VERY fascinating experience. I spent a lot of the movie asking to myself "where are they going with this?" and I was rarely if ever able to guess correctly. It kept me on my toes the whole way through and I'm REALLY glad I watched it. Not sure if it's my favourite of these social media-type horror/thriller movies but it's definitely great.
Influencer does one of my fave things a horror movie can do: have a solid chunk that feels like it could belong in any other genre. It’s easy to imagine a completely different buddy comedy version that involves Madison and CW having adventures in Thailand before Madison gets her temp passport and returns to her normal life, changed by her fun times with CW. Looking forward to the Late Night with the Devil KC. Hope that the discussion/mention of the AI debacle doesn’t take up too much time. Yes, it needs to be addressed and I have no issue with folks being upset over its use, but it was frustrating to see it get lambasted so strongly when other much better funded projects also used AI got very little censure.
You know, that kinda makes me want to see a buddy comedy movie of Madison and CW, maybe with Madison deciding to stay in Thailand with her new best friend?
I personally found CW's decision to leave Madison on the island without killing her a bit strange, especially as she readily kills Ryan and Jessica out in the open. I also would have liked to have seen Madison's survival on the island, like a modern day version of Cast Away.
I think her plan was to take Jessica to the island, especially since it’s implied she’d been there before they just started to work things out too soon
Perhaps Ryan was correct in his read of CW feeling alone, maybe she got attached to Madison because they both were lonely in a sense? In addition, Jessica and Ryan actively 'betrayed' CW, so she may of had a lot less pity for them? Idk though
I think the idea is that CW wants them to have to live (even for just a few days) with the fact that in reality they are completely alone, and no one is looking for them because no one actually cares on social media. She definitely leaves them all alive on purpose. She would have done the same with Jessica, but things with her and Ryan go so awry, CW just kills them and changes her plans. At that point she is spiraling a little bit and kills them out of rage.
Those were kills of necessity due to being found out. CW's goal isn't to murder, it's to make her targets suffer in their isolation, to make them hurt in their abandonment by taking away their audience, their deaths are just incidental. That she assumed that her marks were also too dumb and incapable of surviving beyond that point is the real mistake since it's clear she just assumes that they all starve, die of despair, or succumb to the elements in short order.

Props for the writing on this kill count. You guys always hammer home the fact we should watch the movie first. James does that in the beginning (as always) but right before CW and Maddie make it to the island, James once again mentions how you should go in blind. I was watching this not in the mood to watch a movie, and that second mention basically saying "FROM THIS POINT ON ITS GUNNA UNWIND" and I legit paused the kill count. I watched the movie instead and fucking loved it then came back to finish this episode lol
Influencer is a good movie, but I'm way more into Sissy - actually, after reading Horror Noire and similar texts, I have my own thoughts about that depiction of influencer horror and survival. Anyway, the thing about such stories that scares me a bit is seeing my students - some as young as 11yo - trying SO HARD to be the *next huge influencer*, some in the worst way possible... I wish I could discuss movies like this with them, but... I don't need more problems in life. 😅
As sad and appalling as it seems, I can't say I blame them. It's more or less the only avenue left with a possibility towards fame and fortune left for the current generation as movies and television continue their slow death spiral and everything moves to online content creation as the primary driver of culture. Yeah, the odds are terrible that it'll pay off, yeah, it's a soulless grind that puts you at the most cruel mercies of audience engagement and soulless content generation, but... What else is there? Jobs are turning into low paying gigs and nothing is affordable anymore. The only thing they have left to market is their soul.

So basically, CW's motivation was she wanted to be seen like many influencers, but she felt that her birthmark would hold her back from that, so she stole Madison's stuff to pose as her to get the attention and fame she has always craved?
Just watched it today so I could finally watch this kill count and I was surprised at how much I liked this film. It took me by surprise several times, had complex characters, great cinematography. A really exciting film with really cool energy and intrigue. I’d have never watched it if not for the kill count, it’s why I love this show.
Halloween Ends will come out in October. I doubt the series will get recounted, though. James is on record as liking Halloween the least of the big franchises, and there's just way too many of them to keep up audience interest in today's environment.
It being nominated at the Horror Awards made me want to watch it and it was a pretty solid thriller that kept me on my toes with where it was going and Cassandra Naud had an incredible and wide range performance as CW. I watched it a second time with my dad and he really liked it. I've been loving the kill counts you guys have been putting out recently with M3GAN, Pearl, Totally Killer, The Stepfather, and Immaculate. Great video as usual James!
I don't know what happened after the events of the film, but it's likely that Madison probably exposes CW's actions and crimes on the media web and with proof of her killings. All the while she probably refuses to tell everyone where she's at and leaving CW to die alone on that island as an irony.

Absolutely one of the best "Get to the numbers" bits. Wonderful!!!
🤫
I said it during the Hostel Kill counts, I say it again. This is why when I travel abroad, I do it with a tour group.
Wuss!
Traveling is way more fun alone!
@@coywarrior71 For women especially it is very dangerous to travel alone, I wouldn’t downplay that.
You do it because of... thriller movies? What's next, you avoid steel chairs because of pro wrestling?
Well done, now you’ve influenced someone to make a horror film where someone gets killed by a travel group buddy xD
Hell yeah Influencer!!
4:48 the Aries reference had me going crazy
@@KentuckyKaiju as the subway takes guy says, 100% agree. The main issue is that they don't deal well with "simple" things like low grades or being cut off/mistreated by [former?] friends, but they're already exposed to the hardships of failing - or worse - at something "easy" as posting personal photos and everything else... Like CW in the movie, they wanna feel liked, and some aren't
Sissy def was great
God the soundtrack of this movie is SO GOOD!
Chuckys been looking suspicious for a while👀
Tragedy Girls is a great movie. I hope it gets its own Kill Count one day.
Another Friday another kill count
19:10 Tip: Never wear glasses when facetracking or deepfaking. The reflection and rim of the glasses fucks up the tracking SO BADLY. Source: I'm a vtuber that wears glasses irl and I'd have to play games and use my computer pretty much blind or VSeeFace straight up couldn't track my eyes. So I just use the auto eye blinks and have the look follow my mouse cursor.
Oh y’all I highly suggest checking out Late Night with The Devil
I was really immersed and it’s a slow burn, but great- especially if you like Analog Horror
Great "to the numbers" bit! Love you guys! ❤
11:28 oof, that's a sick roast there... although superman and lois is an exception from all the CW shows... that one FREAKING RULES.
I love how you incorporate your team and all of the sponsored posts like even though I hate watching sponsored ads I sit there and I watch yours because I love y’all
Thanks, Chrissy!
Man that beach monologue is so damn GOOD.
This movie is a gem! Thank you for highlighting lesser known horror you love even when it doesn’t guarantee as many views!
Late Night with the Devil kill count? Hell yeah!
4:48 JAMES LIKES GORRILAZ
Caught me so off guard, didn’t know he liked gorillaz
Beautiful views and beautiful kills.
I actually think Cassandra Nau'd birthmark looks pretty fucking cool.
Do a kill count "Thanksgiving" (2023) please james and I love your videos and thank you!

@@alexisbidule5555where link?
So basically, CW's motivation was she wanted to be seen like many influencers, but she felt that her birthmark would hold her back from that, so she stole Madison's stuff to pose as her to get the attention and fame she has always craved?
Welcome to the kill count!
Home of the Kill Count, can I take you order?
Id like some golden chainsaws@@sailoritaly
Just watched it today so I could finally watch this kill count and I was surprised at how much I liked this film. It took me by surprise several times, had complex characters, great cinematography. A really exciting film with really cool energy and intrigue. I’d have never watched it if not for the kill count, it’s why I love this show.
Kill RE: count for Halloween series + Halloween Ends
Halloween Ends doesn't deserve a kill count >:(
Halloween Ends will come out in October.
Damn, nice jump scare Zoran.
Also, Late Night with the Devil!!!
*HELL YES!!!*
Oh you’re too kind
CW's birth mark is so cool
The "To the numbers" bits keep getting better and better 😂
This channel has the best sponsor segments on the Internet
Just watched it! It was sooooooooooooooooooo good! Thanks for recommending.
I don't know what happened after the events of the film, but it's likely that Madison probably exposes CW's actions and crimes on the media web and with proof of her killings. All the while she probably refuses to tell everyone where she's at and leaving CW to die alone on that island as an irony.
This was a surprisingly good movie
