Governments force their will on 'the people', whereas 'the people', have no recourse at all to force adoption of their will. Governments may allow people to declare their desires within governmental imposed limits, but that's all. Attempts at an adult conversation would be futile. This hit the headlines.

Right. As a proud Australian, I do not support these disgraceful remarks by Lidia Thorpe, who should be removed from Parliament. The Indigenous mobs constantly complain about the Monarchy, yet enjoy the benefits and improvements that the Monarchy brought to the country in their daily lives. What was Australia before colonialism? A bunch of spread out tribes that could barely communicate with one another. The UK settlers brought their knowledge, wisdom and progress over to these uncharted territories and to this day, the Indigenous mobs are on the receiving end of those improvements. None of this came without a price of course. Yes, the First Nations People suffered at the hands of their conquerors. But that was ages ago. The people living in Australia today, enjoying comfortable lives thanks to the progress that still remains by the UK settlers, have nothing to do with those First Nations people who were -wrongly- slaughtered, abused, and taken advantage of. But that's all history. If someone killed my great-great-grandfather it would be stupid of me to demand reparations. It's sickening to keep listening to the so-called First Nations people (as if there is such a thing anymore, someone who goes by the name "Lydia Thorpe" doesn't sound too Aboriginal to me!) talking about what happened to their ancestors as if they have any idea about it when they clearly don't, and try to take advantage of all that pain for their own financial and social benefit. Enough is enough with this hypocritical farce.
