@@greenfly1264 yes, bot not all Gibsons are created equal. Compare that modded Epi for a similar stock Gibson at this price range (S series M2 for example ) and if you still choose the Gibson over the Epi, you love the label more than anything else
@@pabloplaysguitar no, sorry but that's wrong. Epiphone make some good guitars, but they require putting more money into them to even come close to a Gibson than you could have bought the Gibson for. The construction of a Gibson will always make it the better guitar. People who say shit like that have never owned a Gibson. It's one thing to try something for a few minutes, and another to get used to it over a period of time. Epiphone are fine, if you make some improvements.
I’m in the process of modding a couple guitars. A PRS SE custom 24 and a 2018 Epi Les Paul. Can’t wait to finish them, I truly believe their sound will blow their American counterparts out of the water.
Great guitar. The problem with upgrades is the guitars value doesn't increase. Its still an $800 guitar that will continue a slow depreciation (and probably stay around $5-600 value depending on condition). The Gibson will depreciate slightly at first, but as Gibson prices continue rising (at least in Canada), its used price will eventually increase a little. Happened with my J45, and my Les Paul. Now, none of this really matters if you plan on keeping the guitar. But you never know when you might be looking to buy a new guitar and need to move an older one. That said, I can't afford another $3000 guitar so I've been watching these epiphones closely. Would love to pick up the 339 and maybe even the SG (a little more down the road) as well.
i pcked up a 2018 Epi 339 in 2019 for like no good reason. Was kinda meh about it for a while. In lockdown I got ambitious and refinished it, and did some similar mods, new nut, grover tuners, and some new p/u's and pots, etc and yeah...my #1 ever since.(although she wears the no 4)
You might say you might have...*puts on shades* an epiphony.
YEAHHHH
wow, I'd argue it's wayyyy better than the entry Gibson model and still cheaper, awesome video!
Have you tried both ?

Hi nice video, I have the same guitar except the piezzo and I was about to change the nut too. Which graphtech nut model did you use?
Hey David, please send your question to our 🎸support team support@graphtech.com
Thank you ! Have a 🤘day!
I believe the Epi nut from GT is the PT-6061-00 black and permanently lubricated
@@realtusq thanks, yes that what I did. It required a bit of sanding as it was a little too wide and to high. Now working perfectly.
Cool
I clicked thinking i was gonna see kurt russel play an electric guitar
thought this was geddy lee
I thought Kip Winger

Hi! I have a guitar you cant afford! Here's how to blah blah blah
$800 isn't cheap, but it's way more affordable than a lot of comparable alternatives
@@pandawithanorange no doubt. If you’re complaining about epiphone price points you need to get a job, or at least a better job. Damn.
@@pandawithanorange you can get the Epiphone 339 not ultra version for about $550
