It's technically easier to start with land everywhere...and use the three Ocean tools, to carve out the seas. Then you know that the layers falloff correctly, and you don't end up with a deep ocean right next to the coast where it has no business being. Then you can put hills/mountains wherever they're needed. It also makes it easier to get islands that don't look like the top of a pillar in the middle of a deep ocean.

I honestly don't like this video, no hate to the creator its just not very good to make maps with. Really what i think is best is to grab up a map from either another device or just an an actual map. Then you grab the smallest square brush. After that you try and draw the with your finger or mouse and try an make it as accurate as possible.
