It seems like the intelligence stat doesn't affect combat strategy, because every time a small bunch of geniuses goes up against a giant horde of idiots, the idiots win through numbers alone. Also I think the combat mechanics of this game have been simplified down to "If kingdom is at war, then army goes to attack opposing capitol. If capitol is captured or destroyed, then opposing kingdom is captured and converted." Not much room for tiny armies to win if that's the case.
Yeah I've been wanting either a mod or a patch that improves on the wars strategies.
Cities shouldn't be converted if their army is still alive, it looks stupid how their army is fighting in an entire different continent and suddenly they are converted and stop fighting.
But this would create a problem of the enemy army can't capture a city because their army is in a far away place so they're just forced to destroy it. To avoid this it would be cool if each city had a garrison army and an offensive army. Enemies can only capture a city if the garrison is defeated, but the offensive army continues fighting to the end even after their city has been captured, this allows for the city to be recaptured if their offensive army is near to kill the remaining soldiers.
@@greenin5537 In real life if you capture the capital, it's also a headshot, most armies will stop fighting if they don't get food, supplies and ammunition.
Most of the times however armies don't leave the capital unguarded.

i think the reason why geniuses lost was due to you uniting the idiots before the end. had they not been united they would fought themselves till the geniuses came and wipe them all out.

Agreed. If only DF would stop tampering with the kingdoms and just let them exist for a while before creating a land bridge then we would get a more accurate result of these two paths.

I think the problem is with the mechanic of picking up loot from defeated enemies, with 2 kills idiots managed to get legendary end game loot, somehow disabling it would be a great idea
But it is realistic. If someone has only used a knife all their life gets ahold of a gun, they're gonna use it
@@danitho True. Even if you don't know how to shoot a gun, you can still beat someone to death with it. Those poor geniuses all probably had the same last words along the lines, "That's not how you use that!"

@@danitho sure, in real life it would be realistic. But also the idiots are big, the tiny weapons of the geniuses would be too small to use, and the armor definitely wouldn't have fit
The game mechanics don't support this kind of play. The smart faction would have sent out scouts, identified the dumb empires, and then settled on a strategy of constantly encouraging warfare between them while sabotaging every attempt they make to build boats or bridges.

Numbers matter more in this game than weapons. So giving ghe idiots the ability to make numbers and bonuses without needing items just made them OP. Their only downside was taken away when you forced them together.
The beginning was pretty accurate but the end went rogue sort of. To quote Nepoleon “The only thing worse then a competent enemy is an incompetent ally” yeah the idiots should have lost horribly

If an Army is 4x bigger than another one, of course they'll win lol
Assuming roughly equal equipment yes, but a sufficient tech advantage can minimise the advantage of numbers. ie a big enough ranged army versus a melee or more limited ranged capable army with minimal armour you're going to struggle with a 10:1 advantage realistically since a single arrow can be a kill. My cousins unfortunately did just that sort of crap in Africa, early machine guns vs even larger tribal confederations were a massacre.

Ive both played and watched a lot of this game, and im super confused about why the geniuses took so long to build a second colony. I guess they never hit excess population until they finished the housing techs? Not sure. Id love to re run this experiment myself.
Seems like it, more efficient use of land prevented the excess threshold being hit. We sort of see this in real life, you hit a certain point in development and then stall because there aren't external factors pushing progress any longer. It's depressingly why wars are when a lot of foundation tech is developed as a threat constitutes a need to innovate.
This must be how God feels. Make one Kingdom incredibly stupid and then spend all your time mocking it 😅

I was -just- watching Idiocracy clips, and this popped up.
I think merging the idiots together defeated the whole point since normally they would be too stupid to unite. Pretty much just got rid of their only weakness.
