My english bulldog had a cherry eye 4 months ago, and i was about to take him to the vet and have him surgery but, the night before, ive searched for some home remedies and found one which is the technique of massage, i did massage the lower part of his right eye (clockwise) that night and was surprised in the morning that the cherry eye just totally gone, and i’m so happy that up until now cherry eye wouldn’t come back, i hope it won’t anymore. And its been 4 months now. I guess that technique just saved me from spending 500 bucks.
PS: that technique wouldn’t work to every dog, just give it a try, might work!

My Maltese Pomeranian mix got this. It was due to ALLERGIES. He was scratching and gouged his third eyelid. It was popped out for two days and revered back on it’s own. After switching up the cleaning chemicals I was using to clean their crate and after changing out his bedding, the cherry never came back. More people need to know it can be due to allergies.

I have a Lahsa Apso that had this issue. The vet went for the first procedure but did a extremely bad job with the sutures that came off and caused a secondary ulcer. The size of the sutures was not the ideal one for the tissue. He removed the tear glands when I went back to him and this time again the sutures came off. He apparently used a finer suture than the first time but did not do a good job overall despite my telling him not to remove the tear glands in any case he went ahead and removed them.
Make sure you get such surgeries done by a professional veternary eye specialist if possible. My boy is 4years and if have to use a gel or eye drops twice a day to prevent dry eyes. The information shared is valuable.

My pup just had her surgery on the cherry eye. Shes a 5mo Pittie/Am. Bulldog/Lab mix. I also got her spayed at the same time. Together it was a little over $1k. I’m thankful I work at the clinic 😅

Our vet felt the cherry eye in our 7 yr old chi was due to dental infection. They pulled 7 teeth. $1400 later, she still has a cherry eye.

@@TheLiaBee The procedure involves making incisions in the gland, tucking the gland back in place then stitching it shut, so there is some surgery involved. My dog wore an Elizabethan collar to keep her from rubbing and scratching the eye. She had the first eye done at 5 months and the second eye done at 10 months.

We foster BT's and we had a foster that had a cherry eye. This was helpful in understanding may to why she was given up because she was from a puppy mill.☹ In the process we became a foster failure. 😏😀 We had a first procedure done and she is great.👍 Thanks for sharing ❤🐾❤🐾

what will the vet can do if cherry eye only appear on one of the eye at the moment,
as Dr. Addie said, it's likely for both eyes to experience cherry eye if one of the eye have been affected by it before.
my dog is having one cherry eye on his right eye at the moment, and we've been contacting our vet and going to the vet in 4 days [ we found out about his cherry eye today ]

This is horrible advice! my Boston Terrier woke up with a cherry eye this morning and I brewed 1/2 cup Earl Gray tea with 1 tbsp of local honey. I put a couple drops in my dog's eye for some lubrication and then used the warm T bag as a warm compress for 5 minutes. It worked! It's gone! I was prepared to massage it after the compress, but there was no need. Ill repeat this if needed.
