To address the DSG farts on a 1-year-old video, they are essential to the quick-shifting of the Golf R. That fart noise is the ignition being cut just enough, to kick the RPM's down to engage with the next gear. It is quite interesting how it works, and from my understanding, I believe this is what makes it so "farty"
Had my Mk7 R upgraded to S2 Unitronic ECU + TCU today. It was S1 for a year or so. I feel like it's a whole new car now! (Downpipe + Res Delete CTS Turbo). I feel like the gap from S1 to S2 is even greater than Stock to S1. Maybe it's the sound that helps it... It does pull like a beast now. Seems like it should've left the factory this way. Does it REALLY feel that much quicker going from stg.1 to stg. 2? I'm currently on Uni 1+ and it THAT was a HUGE jump in power from stock. I plan on going stg. 2 next month but wasn't sure if I'd feel the xtra 25HP and 18TQ. I know I'll gain better top end quickness but didn't think it would really be a BIG diff in the lower revs. I don't autoX or drag strip it so I'm gonna skip the IC for now. ('18 Golf R DSG)
I bought a 2015 R myself! Love the car. I know people liked the supra but they shouldn't unsubscribe because you bought a practical fun car. Their loss cuz I love my R. Debating which exhaust to choose! Don't need too loud. Any suggestions?

@sik2jz....I'm also Stage 2 Unitronic FBO in my 16R. I was wondering for the pops and bangs did you just buy the UNI cable and enable the pops and bangs because I had mine flashed at the Shop and didn't do it myself and I don't have the pops and bangs.

Sweet! I just recently got my 7.5 R(dsg) the 1+ ecu/tcu tune(was on sale) and it def woke the car the fuck up! I also added a Uni turbo elbow. Next year I'll go Stg.2 w/ DP/CAI! It's my first dub and I'm loving it!!
Good way to do it. Progressive modifications keeps you in love with the car. I made the mistake of going Stage 2 on my mk6 and wanted to go Stage 3 in 6 months. Decided not to spend all that money, but got a little bored.

350awhp It's no "Supra", but Stage 2 VII R's pull mid to low 11's on the strip easy. And that's just a tune, downpipe, intake. You can take the VII R up to 500awhp with a larger turbo like the EFR 7163 from Garret/APR. As his R sits right now though, it's a lot of fun to hoon around on back roads and straights. The MQB platform is amazing. VW/Audi nailed the VII / VII.5 gens.
