I was there... we were out in the boonies on a dune with no internet connection and didn't know they canceled the catch at 41 km up. What was really weird was THERE WAS NO SONIC BOOMS AT ALL and on relight for the landing, it was pretty quiet compared to the takeoff. This is the 2nd launch I've been to, went to the one in March also. We lost sight of the booster off and on for 5-10 second periods, but for most of the time, it was in sight. VERY VERY VERY COOL, weather was great, a bit warm and a bit of wind out of the north, but the sky was very clear.
Love ya, Felix, but when you start talking over the feed, I leave to go watch it with SpaceX. I'd rather be here, but I want to hear what they say, instead, I cannot understand anyone. Please consider that, though, it may only be me that it affects.
You're not the only one. It irritated the hell out of me that he talked over them every time they tried to give an update on what was going on with the re entry.
Yeah, that was because I had trouble hearing them. The team brought me in on very short notice. I just turned the PC on and went in. Will do a better job with it next time again. Thank you for the feedback!
The onboard camera as it slowed, descended through the clouds, landed on the ocean....man that was awesome. I was literally yelling "wow" at the tv. As the waves came into view, then the spray from the water....that was so cool! Any shots of the banana during landing? Banana Cam!
I would really like to know the specifics on the catch abort. The reroute was successful though. Can't wait to see what they learned on the starship reentery and landing.
@@johnruckman2320 might even be just as simple as testing an abort scenario just incase they need to honestly. Or possibly the catch arms weren’t quite responding right on a last minute check, or perhaps the wind was too high or some other thing like an airplane or car where it shouldn’t be 🤷♂️
Apparently their was some damage to the tower speculatively people think it was the antenna on top of the tower being damaged but spaceX has confirmed it was a tower side fault not the booster
Just a little hello from France. I followed this launching in french on Alexis (Vulga space) channel. I saw your live on a multicast link he indicated and after his live finished, I continued with the en of your live. Surprising the difference of viewing number between US (probably) and French channel for this event. But as Starship is a US rocket, that may explain this difference. Presenters are very young on this channel (teenagers), but as I started been interested after seeing in primary school Apollo 8 launching few days after my 10th birthday and continued been interesting by that, it's not surprising some young people of now are also interested by that.
If y’all want to see the massive explosion after the booster landed then you can go over to Everyday Astronaut and see it. Not trying to get people to leave Felix, it’s just that EA had a camera 28 stories up on a hotel and could see the booster over the horizon better than most other cameras and you can see the big explosion. However, what is crazy is that the booster wasn’t destroyed by the explosion
Geez, I hope not too many people were disappointed at the 'no go' for booster catch. They will be recovering it. Since the booster would never fly again (it's still just a preliminary design, and not the final flight artical) it's not really an issue. Plus, the booster appears to NOT have exploded, so they should be able to recover it intact. Were there weather constraints on the Booster? We'll all see. The launch tower and pad are fine. No tears. At this point in my view of the mission, Ship is in its coast phase. Given what SpaceX was saying about mission goals, the focus was on the Ship. I doubt very much whether there will be any issues on the Raptor burn. No jinxing here. Go SpaceX!
I'm still a little sad they didn't catch the booster because I was really hoping to see a second catch, but that is part of the criteria that they are looking for to attempt a catch.
@HavenInTheWood I agree with you.. my comment was not against yours.. sorry if it seemed like this, this was not my intention. I can equally enjoy the hype of Felix which can make him talk over Spacex commentary. I saw that he agreed and that he will consider it the next time. Too bad no booster return to launch site, BUT, still a resounding SUCCESS! So eagerly waiting for IFT7! Thank you Felix and WAI team for posting a replay! Awesome stuff!!
Felix when is SpaceX is talking, and you want to talk, you must fade out mute them and then talk. I pulled out all my hair when you were talking over them. Must not do that in future please. Thank you.
Wonderful job like always. Your production quality is getting better and better. However, I do have a suggestion, try not to talk over space x. When you talk over them, I can't understand anyone. Can you mute them and when you have something to say?

I don't usually post in 2 separate posts, so please indulge me. Getting the heat shield through re-entry at orbital velocity is one thing. COming in from cislunar space, or an actual interplanetary mission will put much more stress on the heat shield. Any thoughts or inside knowledge concerning when SpaceX tests the shield at the higher velocities?
I've been through the comments and the consensus is absolutely clear: This live stream was ruined by you talking over the Space X feed. If you are going to make a reaction video then put that in the title.
I think Starship 6's launch was successfu, They can now catch and land the booster and Starship next lunch for sure. By the look of it, it splashed in the ocean very smoothly. 💪💪❤️❤️🇺🇸🇺🇸
Safety reasons most likely they need approval to be able to re enter over a populated area also it would require going fully orbital because of the way orbits work they'd need to stay in orbit for a day or so for the Gulf and Boca to line back up and up until this flight they hadn't verified a de-orbit burn
ONE QUESTION WE'VE ASKED, AND SPACE-X and/or WAI HAVE NOT ANSWERED IS-: IF SPECIFIED STARSHIP PAYLOAD WEIGHT IS ~100 TONS - WHAT'S THE MAXIMUM LOAD TO DATE IT HAS CARRIED IN A LASUNCH---- ALTHOUGH WOULD BE A DUMMY WEIGHT?
Even with absolutely nothing inside Starship, it's still 1,000 km/h short on velocity, and 250km too low, after burning all its fuel. What does this mean for a claimed 150 tons to LEO? o_O
