Pokémon Theme - Gotta catch 'em all! + Pokémon Red and Blue medley [Piano]

The first Pokemon OP "Gotta catch 'em all!" is probably one of the most well-known anime songs in the English speaking community and I am pretty sure, many people will recall their childhood memories upon hearing this legendary opening theme.
The piano arrangement for "Gotta catch 'em all!" was actually made a long time ago (around 2012), but I never had the chance to record a video of it until today. Since the original arrangement was only the TV-size, the duration of this piece is only around 1 minute. That's the reason why I decided to include an improvised medley as well.
I was a big fan of the first generation of the Pokémon games (you can probably guess my age by this information, haha) and I can still remember all the hours I have spent on this game with my old Gameboy. This game essentially defined my entire childhood and that's the reason why I can still remember so vividly the game soundtrack - even after all these years. I still remember how to perform the "missingno. glitch" to multiply my items and how much of a bitch the rival trainer was - always showing up in the most inconvenient moments ever.
Most of the pieces in this soundtrack medley are improvised on the spot, and I was experimenting with some transitions between every piece. I deliberately kept the arrangement style simple to reflect the minimalistic style of music in the first Pokémon games.
I started with the theme of Pallet Town in 1:09, because that's where every Pokémon journey begins. I added more and more songs in the medley until it reached a length of almost 11 minutes.
Some of the tracks in the medley may not be exactly true to the original, because I improvised them entirely from my memory. It's been 15 years since I last played the first Pokémon games after all.
Anyway, this is my Pokémon special video and I hope you enjoyed it as much as I did! Improvising the medley was a unique experiment for me as well and I had a very nice nostalgia trip while recording. See you next time again!

Anyone else get that weird feeling in the heart? The days of freedom, dreaming of being a pokemon trainer, the days when you could spend hours trying to find rare candy? I'm 25 and grew up on this, it really was the one of the greatest memories ill have, it was an escape from so much. There was actually some themes I would listen to for the sheer enjoyment of it. Thanks for this vid Animenz.

I think Lavender Town scare us so much because it was unexpected. Pokémon is overall a happy game, then, suddenly, you get out of a cave and there's a sad and creepy music, along with a really small town in the middle of nowhere, with weird people talking about death (Lavender Town is where we learn that Pokémon die) and a tower full of ghosts (quite literally), and not only that, but it's where we discover that the skull in Cubone's head is actually his dead mother's skull. It's a very out of place Town.
Yep, it was pretty dark. The actual Pokemon episode where Cubone's backstory was explained still haunts me.
I'm litterally crying right bow because I just suddenly feel so old and remembered how excited I always was once pokemon was on the tv. I used to sprint home after school to watch pokemon and this just holds so many memories and the feeling when my best friend and I were hiding on the school ground and played pokemon and the happiness I felt after we beat a gym and- I'm just so happy you made this medley :') so many memories
i feel you dude alot of people have played pokemon and it made our childhoods great. I remember playing with my gameboy advance at recess playing pokemon leaf green back in like 2004.
the memories all of us have are probably really old but when he started playing he third song I remember Pokemon red and how you had rivals and stuff those were the good days, I feel old as hell now because I also remember waking up every morning just waiting for Pokemon and I would take all my cards out and stuff... now I've got a job...😥

I love how you ended with Pallet Town again.
Just like how music is a journey i.e. technically it is about how chords resolve into one another and "returning home".
But on a more symbolic it reminds us of where it all began and things coming full circle.
I remember them all so vividly, NOSTALGIA it has arrived, but seriously after watching this a watched a few of the originals and you got it spot on ,give or take one note. Actually considering downloading a version of it onto my iPad with the emulator XD.

I'm 32 soon. And I remember being 10 and trading Pokemon cards and playing the Gameboy Color, connecting the Gameboys with cables to trade or have connectes battles via cables in Pokemon Silver/Gold all of this with my friends in third grade. Beautiful memories I cherish to this day. 😌

Leeah K I get why they didn't use these songs but in my opinion, it was the biggest problem I had with Pokemon GO. I wanted to feel the same thrill I had when catching pokes in Gen 1 but it wasn't the same.

This song is your whole journey through the game. You start off in pallet town and make it through the first few town and get your gyms. In the end you make it to the Pokémon league . Then in the end you go back to your beginnings in pallet town and look at the past journey you had.
