Here I am 3 years after this reaction of yours to Pentatonix, 90s Dance Medley and you should know your reaction is still impactful 😊. It was sheer joy watching you light up as you totally grooved to the sensation known as Pentatonix. This was my first of your reactions so I will now go check for a Playlist or any other Pentatonix you may have reacted to and enjoy what I already know I will see and hear ❤
Welcome to the Pentatonix rabbit hole. You won't be disappointed. Ten years worth of videos with over 16 billion total views! Three Grammy Awards. Numerous multi-platinum selling albums. Record both covers and original songs. Especially known for their Christmas music (they put out a new Christmas album just about every year), but almost never perform Christmas songs the traditional way, with amazing arrangements that will make you wish EVERYBODY sang those Christmas songs their way! Members from L-R on first frame: Kevin "KO" Olusola (beatboxer, tenor singer, occasional cellist, known as the group's "over-achiever" because of everything he can do), Scott Hoying (baritone but can sing all the way from bass to high tenor, takes lead vocal more often than the others), Mitch Grassi (true contra-tenor who can hit those high notes with remarkable ease), Kirstin "Kirstie" Maldonado (only female member, mezzo soprano with the looks of a model and the voice of an angel, originally primarily in the background but has started to take a lot more leads after her successful solo album and stint on Broadway) and Matt Sallee (bass who can also sing baritone and tenor, joined in 2018 replacing original bass singer Avriel "Avi" Kaplan who left in late 2017). Mitch and Kirstie are true chameleons whose looks change from video to video, but it's always them. The others maintain a fairly consistent look. Enjoy the ride!
@@itbearmi Matt is professionally trained from the prestigious Berklee College of Music and has an impressive background and is youngest member. Awesome bass showcased on several songs you'll hear as you continue this beautiful PTX Journey.
I know I have told you about PTX and Home Free. They are about the only music I listen to and my bird loves to dance to them. I would get writer's cramp if I tried to list all of their music to listen to. PTX has covers and originals, they kill it all. You do need to check out Kevin Olusola covering Down! Welcome to the rabbit hole you are about to drop into and say hello to Alice!
They won the sing off 3 in 2011, sang at the next final 4 that Home Free won and in which Voice Play competed. They are THE A Capella group. Early stuff has Avi Kaplan on bass, later Matt Sallee took over that slot. I'm sure people will tell you all about original stuff but I'd say try Daft Punk Medley for versatility, New Rules for bass and beat box, anything, really it's all fantastic.
Why have so many of us not found Pentatonix sooner? I see the same amazement every time I watch a "first time reaction" as when I first discovered this group. I suggest starting with some of the earlier songs whilst Avi (the bass) was with the group (HALLELUJAH, BOHEMIAN RHAPSODY, IMAGINE, MARY DID YOU KNOW, DAFT PUNK, ) then working up to their latest with Matt (SOUND OF SILENCE, CAN YOU FEEL THE LOVE TONIGHT, AMAZING GRACE) and finally, when you have been "Mitch Slapped" listen to AHA SINGAPORE, DEFYING GRAVITY and YOUR POWER.
A brief introduction to Pentatonix: A five member acapella group formed in 2011. They sing covers of pop songs and have several Christmas albums in their catalog. They've also put out two albums of original material, one just released February 12, 2021 (The Lucky Ones). The original band members were Scott, Kirstin (Kirstie), Mitch, Kevin and Avi. Of these five, four are still in the group. Avi left the group in 2017 and was replaced with Matt. They've won multiple awards including three Grammys. While acappella since forming the group, they occasionally introduce instruments such as piano (played by Scott) and cello (played by Kevin). They've also included instrumentals played by featured guests. Most of their 'instrumental sounds' however, are created by Kevin, their very talented beatboxer along with baselines performed by Matt and Scott. While performing as a five-member group, they also have individual works worth investigating. There's so much more info 'Pentaholics' can add to this list. Just ask and they will respond. Enjoy!
Be careful. Pentatonix (PTX) is highly addictive, but in a good way! Fans refer to themselves as Pentaholics and we are proud of it!! They have been making beautiful music together for 10 years (with only one member change - the original bass, Avi Kaplan, left the group in 2017 and was replaced by Matt Sallee. The rest of the group has remained the same). You have a lot of catching up to do. They are known for their Christmas songs (it's not officially the Christmas season until PTX releases a new album) but you need to check out their AMAZING covers of classic songs and new songs and they have also released a couple of albums of original songs. Enjoy the Ride!!
Uh oh. Heading down t he PTX rabbithole! 3 time grammy winners! Every song is pure voice, no autotune or intstruments but Kevin does bring his chello to a couple songs. ENJOY!
They revolutionized the Acapella genre 10 years ago when they won the 3rd season of Sing Off, and are truly the best of them all...not to disparage Home Free or Voiceplay, etc, but they have the world's largest following (subscribers); 400 videos, Grammys, 4 sold-out world tours, and the beat goes on... Here's a few to start with ...Hallelujah (600 MILLION views); Daft Punk (1st Grammy); Bohemian Rhapsody, and Sound of Silence...that should start you down this rabbit hole. Oh BTW...it's unofficially known that when you learn their names, you can join the worldwide millions as a PENTAHOLIC !!
Beatboxer Kevin O is the best I've heard. Classically trained chello player has played Carnegie Hall, does other instruments. Invented a genre he calls Chelloboxing, dope. Has lately discovered a beautiful tenor singing voice as well.
My favs from PTX are Bohemian Rhapsody, Sound of Silence and Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy. They also have lots of Xmas music. Many people also recommend Halleluiah. All (or most) older songs, from the times when Avi Kaplan was their bass (now it's Matthew). You may hear requests for something with Geoff (VoicePlay), Tim (Home Free) and Avi (ex-PTX). If you listen to more PTX, follow the high tenor, Mitch. His voice is so awesome! He can whistle Mariah Carey style. Have fun!
Welcome to PTX! To answer some questions for you: They are the most famous a cappella group in the world, and they formed in 2011. They cover mostly pop but also do a range of genres and original music. They've done a number of medleys including an evolution of Michael Jackson, evolution of music, evolution of rhianna, evolution of beyonce, and evolution of ariana grande (ptx fans let me know if i missed one) It's just the 5 of them, however the bass joined in 2017. The original bass is named Avi and he left to pursue a solo career because the pace of tour life was too much for him. In terms of solo projects, Mitch and Scott had a youtube channel called Superfruit where they did covers, original music, and vlogs and discussed gay culture. Kirstie has released a solo ep. Kevin, the beatboxer, has a youtube channel and an ep where he plays the cello while beatboxing (celloboxing) and utilizes looping.
They won the Sing-off the year before Home Free, but their record label dumped them. So they decided to make a video by themselves on their last bucks, and this vid "Daft Punk Medley" won them their first Grammy. They got the second one for "Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairies", an instrumental song performed by a vocals- only band. They did a few other medleys: Evolution of Michael Jackson or Rihanna or Beyoncé, and they also sing originals. My favourites by them are "Sound of Silence" and "Amazing Grace" There has only been one change in their line-up, their former bass Avi Kaplan left amicably in 2016 and was replaced by Matt. Try "Daft Punk" next and keep in mind that all sounds are being made by them.
Actually, Daft Punk was nearly two years after Epic dropped them. There were a LOT more videos there in between, plus their first three EPs on the Sony-owned Madison Gate Records label. Sony promoted them up to RCA after Daft Punk's success.
Blond baritone Scott Hoying and countertenor Mitch Grassi (mustache and dark hair) have a separate channel performing as Superfruit; beat boxer Kevin Olusola has his own channel where he does some amazing things with electronic musical equipment and his cello. If you like medleys check out their Evolution mixes of artists such as Michael Jackson, Rihanna, Beyonce and Ariana Grande, as well as their Grammy winning Daft Punk mashup. They have a huge and amazing body of work well worth the time (and effort - just fyi Sony Music is brutal when it comes to blocking their videos so sometimes requires a work around) to follow. Welcome to the family!
In my opinion, there are 4 premier a cappella groups right now. Home Free, Pentatonix, Voctave, and Voice Play. I know there are few other artists out there, but these 4 are on top of my list.
Pentatonix happens to be the greatest A Cappella group of all-time, with 19,000,000 subscribers!! Home Free is definitely probably 2nd, but that's not confirmed. And Voiceplay is quite lacking as far as those groups go, but still good. There's another one called Voctave. Check out Pentatonix's original song, "Cracked", or their The Evolution of Ariana Grande!!! And they all have their own channels where they do other work apart from Pentatonix. Check out Kevin Olusola's "Sign Of The Times" cover!!
There’s so much out there! This is their most recent medley. Check out their ‘evolution of’ videos. There’s a few! Their sound has changed recently to make them more radio friendly, including a new album of originals. Other than that I recommend ‘sound of silence’, ‘Hallelujah’, ‘Can you feel the love tonight’ and Amazing Grace’. Enjoy!
OMG... YESSS!!!! moreeee Pentatonix ❤️❤️❤️ Daft Punk, Bohemian Rhapsody, Hallelujah, Gold,Sing, Havana, Mad World, Coffee in Bed, all the Evolution covers!! Every Xmas album 🤣
Loved this - found you by accident trawling through reactors to this medley and discovered you do Home Free too - you just made a gal very happy - new sub ;)
They have been around since 2011 and have a plethora of videos out. Not a single one will disappoint. Their three Grammys are for Daft Punk, Carol of the Bells, and a duet with Dolly Parton on Jolene. Note: In 2017 the original bass singer, Avi Kaplan, left the group on amicable terms. Since then Matt Sallee has joined as the bass singer. That is the only personnel change. Mitch Grassi and Kirstie Maldonado change their looks A LOT, but there has only been that one change.
@@gingerjohnson1095 No, You're right. I don't know where my mind went. It is so cool since it is an instrumental piece from Tchaikovsky's Nutcracker. I do know which one; that was a brain fugue on my part. Sorry.
Very seldom use autotune (and never in their early stuff). They used it on "Believe" because it's so much a part of Cher's original. I predict you will *love* their Daft Punk medley.
The PTX experience has begun. Extreme talent and ranges for each one of them. So many medlies and covers to choose from. 2 members have their own channel called Superfruit. Kevin (beat boxer, but oh so much more) has his own channel and does he own covers too.
Welcome to the PTX experience. Over 200 vids to check out over 11 years. The. There is Superfruit, Scott and Mitch’s former side project! Kirsten and Kevin’s individual solo stuff, and original bass singer Avi Kaplan’s amazing solo stuff. I recommend starting with Daft Punk and Hallelujah, their first Grammy and vid with over half a BILLION view respectively.
Scott Hoying (blond) & Mitch Grassi high voice Are also “Superfruit” They do Empire Medley, Evoloution of Rihanna, Evoloution of Lady Gaga, Evoloution of Beyoncé and much more
I think I found a new channel to sub..."Oh Pentaholic fam!....come in here! New baby PTX reactor jumping down the rabbit hole!...Mitch-faces to behold for everyone! I like this guy, come on in!" Ahem...Hi! I love your reaction to this medley by PTX and I like the vibe from you right off the bat. Pentatonix will never disappoint you, even if it's not a genre you normally like. I don't care for pop music myself, but I am ALL IN with PTX! Any covers they do sound as good as the original artist, usually better.
Their Cover of Hallelujah has over 600 million views and they do a live version of it as well. Their DAFT PUNK medley set them on the road to stardom. It's incredible 👍🍀😁
If you start reacting to the Pentatonix catalog, the Pentaholics will blow up your channel. There are a kazillion of us and we have all heard their vids a bazillion times and that is still not enough. Try their Daft Punk medley, and the Evolution of Michael Jackson, my person medley favs.
PTX (always 1st!!) PTX has over 4.5 BILLION views of their videos. Home Free, Voiceplay...just sayin. Welcome to the rabbit hole! "Sound of Silence", Hallelujah(look at it's views) Bohemian Rhapsody, Daft Punk Medley. They released a new originals album this year. Try "Happy Now"..super feel good song. They are musical Unicorns..The 1st "autotune song but it was a vocorder which takes a synth and voice wave to make it robotic but does not change the pitch of the voice which is what auto tuning does change the pitch for correct notes..Nice reaction!
Please react to Pentatonix singing Hallelujah , Imagine, Daft Punk, Amazing Grace, Mary Did you Know, Havana, Gold, New Rules Bohemian Rapsody, Be My Eyes, Evoloution of Michael Jackson. Watch beginners guide to Pentatonix. You will learn all about the group History.
Welcome to the Pentatonix rabbit hole! You’re in for great joyful journey of discovery! They all have done individual projects! Mitch just released a solo cover of a Billie Eilish cover!
The PTX rabbit hole is deep and worth it every time you jump in. Welcome. If you want another medley check out their Evolution of Michael Jackson. It's phenominal. It does have their original bass, Avi Kaplan.
Subbed for some more PTX... Mad world, Gold, Daft Punk, Be my eyes (original), all their medlys, New rules & Are you that somebody etc.... You can't go wrong...
Before you react to another Pentatonix video check out the video "Beginner's Guide to Pentatonix". It will enhance your listening. I hope you listen to some of their original music like "Sing", "Run to You", and their new album "The Lucky Ones" with 11 original songs.
You think this is awesome, you haven't heard Bohemian Rhapsody. You'll be amazed at how they do instruments, without instruments. Amazing. BTW, I know you've listened to Hallelujah by PTX, but you should listen to them live in concert. You'll see Scott (blond hair guy) take over the bass when Avi (the bearded one) sings his solo. If you haven't heard Sound of Silence, no one on your list can sing it better IMO. If you want to hear Kevin (the beatboxer) sing, then listen to Mary Did You Know. Kevin has an angelic voice. All are strongly recommended.
Kevin Olusola, beatboxer (He was pre-med before joining PTX, is fluent in Mandarin, and plays many instruments, including sax.) 2 of my favorites: Down - Marian Hill KOver ua-cam.com/video/IGjg193h4Ok/v-deo.html Sign Of The Times- Harry Styles KOver ua-cam.com/video/hBFlhLEU7uU/v-deo.html Mitch and Scott, aka Superfruit Sexy Ladies ua-cam.com/video/yb7kuK5pr2E/v-deo.html Vacation ua-cam.com/video/yFq6U8YibOU/v-deo.html Avi Kaplan ( the original bass who left for PTX due to sickness in his family) Change On The Rise ua-cam.com/video/382BTxLNrow/v-deo.html Song For The Thankful ua-cam.com/video/t6s4mbDAmuI/v-deo.html
There's Michael Jackson, Evolution of Music, Rhianna, Beyonce I know I'm missing some medleys. They've been around for 10 yrs and their catalog is huge.
morning booboolu and yes they have been around since way back 2013 or so, for sure U have missed years of the best group, to many great covers they make it there own and even a lot better PTX is the only group that stands out from the rest. I only react to PTX and U got a new subscriber so more PTX
They used auto tune on that song on purpose to honor Cher, who was the first artist to use auto tune as an artistic choice. However, I agree that they are able to create remarkable effects on their own without studio tricks, especially Mitch who can mimic just about any sound.
Next try Finnish a cappella group Club For Five and their live version from Dite Straits song ”Brothers In Arms” (2008). Also song ”Blackbird” (2017) is beautiful. A bit different style compared to american groups. And if you are really brave you listen their song ”Lumineito” which is in Finnish.
You are in for a musical treat. Hallelujah, Sound of Silence, My Favorite Things, The Prayer, Amazing Grace

Welcome to the pentaholics club👍😁 your in for a hell of a train ride. PENTATONIX has rewritten the rules on A Capella 👍🍀😁
They do have their own things...
Please react to Pentatonix singing
Hallelujah , Imagine, Daft Punk, Amazing Grace,
Mary Did you Know, Havana, Gold, New Rules
Bohemian Rapsody, Be My Eyes, Evoloution of Michael Jackson.
Watch beginners guide to Pentatonix. You will learn all about the group History.
Welcome to the PTX rabbithole!
Welcome to the Pentatonix rabbit hole! You’re in for great joyful journey of discovery! They all have done individual projects! Mitch just released a solo cover of a Billie Eilish cover!
Mitch Grassi in case you want to look him up. It's an amazing cover!
The PTX rabbit hole is deep and worth it every time you jump in. Welcome. If you want another medley check out their Evolution of Michael Jackson. It's phenominal. It does have their original bass, Avi Kaplan.
Ditto to everything said by the dude below me...i would just add that 99% of the time i like their version of covers BETTER than the original
Check Pentatonix with Hallelujah
PLEASE DO PTX - AMAZING GRACE!!!
You will love it, I promise!
Evolution of Music is another great medley by ptx that you should totally check out!
Pentantonix is an acopella group!
You could react to any of their evolution of like Rihanna, Ariana Grande, Michael Jackson
I hope you listen to some of their original music like "Sing", "Run to You", and their new album "The Lucky Ones" with 11 original songs.
subbed for more PTX reactions! Just pick a song, cover or original and you'll be happy!
Would love to see evolution of Michael Jackson next
Kevin Olusola, beatboxer
(He was pre-med before joining PTX, is fluent in Mandarin, and plays many instruments, including sax.)

Bohemian rhapsody by ptx
You just got "Mitch slapped"...
Check out the evolution videos! But everything is great by them
This was the FIRST time that I know of that they did use autotune on Cher's song..
The did auto tune for that one song in tribute to cher the first person to ever use autotune on that song
They have done a Michael Jackson Medley I have not heard any of them go solo
@DeEnna Matthews Go check out Mitch's (Grassi) cover of Billie Eilish's Your Power. It's amazing!
Go to ptxofficial.com. seriously more than 250 songs. Pentatonix has been together since they won the Sing Off in 2011.
They did use auto tune for Cher's song Do You Believe.
Are you sure?? Knowing PTX it would not surprise me to fine out they did the "auto tune" themselves. They do some amazing things!!
Alan Freeman, check out on you tube the recorded interview by Jacob Restituto with PTX 's Ben Beam.
They used auto tune on that song on purpose to honor Cher, who was the first artist to use auto tune as an artistic choice. However, I agree that they are able to create remarkable effects on their own without studio tricks, especially Mitch who can mimic just about any sound.
@@suzannehorne4115 I think I remember Ben's last name is Bram. :)
The Cher effect.
Penta is Greek for 5
Cher. Autotune
