Sorry they will be permanently screwed all that money put in bu the us and still the Taliban control most of the country ,what you needed was a Saddam like leader or Stalin who would not be afraid of killing 30 per cent of the population to bring it to line.

@Spoony G there has been conflict and war on and off for thousands of years in the middle east... yeah in certain places you wouldn't necessarily be as bothered or in danger, but the middle east has always been heavily in conflict, it's just gotten worse every century.
I remember reading about Kabul being a backpacker hub on the Magic Bus hippie trail in the '60s and '70s . Wild how now, not so much time later, there are hardly any travelers able to go. Thanks so much for sharing this.
In the 70s I had a friend who was kidnapped off a bus traveling overland. Swedes and Germans were kidnapped and government workers they were taken to the mountains .The government workers were shot dead. And the Europeans waited to see if they would be shot. Eventually they were released and sent across the border,

Kabul was called the “Asian paris” in the 60s and 70s. Modern society with Afghan people wearing regular clothes, a lot of tourists and a nice holiday destination. 1978 a communist party took over inflating more series of radical modernisation, one of them being more equal rights to women. Unfortunately the Mujahideen (talibans) started growing and soon they wanted the country to follow more Islamic rules and radical way of living. That caused a civil war between the Republic of Afghanistan and the Mujahideen which led to 500k to 2m people dying. If I’m missing something please let me know, I’m not so quite sure about the Russians part of this conflict
The mujahedeen were a reaction to the russian oppressors. Country folk were upset with the russians and wanted them out, so the disgusting mujahedeen took advantage of the country folk. Then the disgusting pashtuns/mujahedeen/taliban completely destroyed afghanistan.
my understanding is that: officially, most of the war soviet troops were a volunteer special contingent assistance force... under command & of working alongside of 'local' forces. the army soviet supported president (who overtook government in a USSR resident-informant staged coupe) how many soviet people were involved in this early stage is unclear, but the regular army units clandestinely based on Afghan soil, rapidly grew. the same government was to a much lesser degree supported by India. As a counterweight to these actions, the US through and alongside Pakistan covertly helped support the local tribal leaders, who joined in a horse-riding, mobile, resistance group to become known as the Mujaheddin, which later sub-divided into a loose network of highwaymen warlords, and an organised hardliner Muslim group who had the support of the rural population, the council of elders they formed became known as the Taliban (or disciples), whilst the first group, along with some who had supported the old government, became the Northern-Alliance
Down to earth journalism, This video gives so much facts and ground realities with very little talk - I wish modern day news media all over the world learn something from it.

Sorry they will be permanently screwed all that money put in bu the us and still the Taliban control most of the country ,what you needed was a Saddam like leader or Stalin who would not be afraid of killing 30 per cent of the population to bring it to line.

I thought the US and ISAF did a considerably good job in killing civilians, sure the Taliban are on a whole other level but I think we still do enough to strike fear.

Sal DiMarchese this is not islam at all watch what you say
Sal DiMarchese Islam is not fucked up man. Extremists and people who twist words to favor their own belief systems are fucked up. You act as if people in Afghanistan want to live their lives like this...it’s sad to hold hatred in your heart. Especially when life is already short as it is...hoping for global peace in my lifetime (probably won’t happen) but it doesn’t hurt to dream! Much love to every race, we are one! (Ps. Every single country has its “THUGS” sadly)

I guess we treat our women much better then the west the western use girls for few days or weeks and then trash it find another then trash.. and there nothing to say I m so happy for those girl they do skateboarding in afghanistan which is an insult we were modern then today that's how the west made us they made the militants and proxy so called taliban al qaida and used islam as bad way and for their interests to defeat soviet union so far they were success to defeat they soviet union but they r losing now and let me tell u islam taught us more of women rights and of better way how to treat and them then the human rights of West. The west only consider of these human rights who they have interests. I hope to see the west same oneday as our countries Libya Iraq afghanistan Yemen Syria Palestine now Iran it really make me laugh when a western talk about us it's mad how westren governments made damn foolish the their own people how they made to believe their media how the show of our bad image
@@saheen7014 Dude, get off your high horse. I was referring to actually seeing women skateboard. You never see women skate board. I think it's awesome these ladies are doing something I never see. And not to mention, they're really good at it. Take your trash talking about treating women elsewhere because by talking to me like that, you just proved you are the bigger trash. In the West, I have plenty of men that would love to make me theirs forever... But it's my choice that I don't take them up on it because I'm better off INDEPENDENT. A free, high earning, OPINIONATED, and domineering woman that is in control of her own destiny, life, and BODY. I have NO desire to let any man "treat" me to anything - good or bad. But again, this is MY choice. I don't need ANY man to make my life better ... The Afghan women and men are beautiful and wonderful people... and I believe someday they will not have to struggle the hardships that they do... THAT'S THE IMPORTANT PART HERE.
@@AA-no1wr dont disrespect Pashtun people. you cant blame everything on a whole ethnic background
my understanding is that:
officially, most of the war soviet troops were a volunteer special contingent assistance force... under command & of working alongside of 'local' forces. the army soviet supported president (who overtook government in a USSR resident-informant staged coupe) how many soviet people were involved in this early stage is unclear, but the regular army units clandestinely based on Afghan soil, rapidly grew. the same government was to a much lesser degree supported by India.

@Hunter Ringgenberg Ooooh but no. There is too much opium for the west to steal. Too much lithium in the mountains to leave. In the 80's the Sovjets found that there is more than 1 trillion dollars worth of lithium in Afghanistan. There wont be peace anytime soon. The world is full of thieves.
Once again you show me places I would never go myself! Stretching my horizons
Cheers Mike, thanks for watching the videos :)
@@slangingiron4016 same, all these People in the comments forget about the real situation there. Wich is a very tragic one.
criticalhard yeah for sure. Don’t get me wrong there’s definitely decent people in any country you go, but %99 of the Middle East HATES US. Their own Quran scriptures say kill the unbelievers. Why the Fuck would you go there.
Militant Mind State please give proof of this nonsense, it’s highly sinful to even harm an animal so how do you think it’s ok for Muslims men to lay hands on women. Stop basing your facts off Fox News and the internet, grow some balls, go to your local mosque, ask for an English translation, and read it if you really believe the fastest growing and second largest religion in the world is all about violence and mistreating non believers. If you really believe Islam is about violence, don’t you think 3 billion Muslims would’ve killed your dumbass by now? Or we trying to create some secret diabolical plan. All this talking about a religion when you probably haven’t even met one Muslim.
All I have is love for Afghan people and respect for you to share such beautiful video 🙏.
I love Afghanistan and Afghani people. Kurds and Afghans have many similarities.
*زور سپاس برام*
What kind of similarities?
@@humblebee8334
*Language culture*
We do, when I went to Turkey, there were many Kurds and they heard us sak farsi aand started a whole dialogue with us in their own language. We understood pratically everything they told us. Very nice and warm people.
Not Kurd and Afghans, Kurd, Persians and Taajiks have similarities. Afghan means Pashtoon and they have their own culture, way of life and mindset. So don't get confused there. Or else you should start calling yourself Turk, Arab or Iranian since your people live in all those countries.
We did the overland trip from London to Khatmandu in 1972 and Afghanistan was really an incredible cultural experience with such diverse landscape and such an incredible wealth of history. We were a family of 3 travelling and the people treated us well and were extremely interesting. We broke down in the middle of the desert between Herat and Kandahar and The Afghan nomads came over on their camels and helped to cool our car by erecting pigskin tent over the motor and we enjoyed morning tea with them;-))) They were huge nomadic people of the desert and could have had their way with us but they treated us with respect as we did to them. Thankyou for your awesome footage.
My heart is broken. I`m so sorry for Afghanistan. What happens now is so terrible.
Hey Nick, I’m watching your vlogs since you were in my country. Your vlogs are nice, your beard looking good. Have a nice trip ✈️
Thank you very much for the support!
The places you travel to scare the hell out of me for your safety. Yet the moments of reality and humanity in some of these places actually almost, and sometimes does, bring a tear to my eye. Thank you so much for these videos!
Thank you.
Welcome to my dear country Afghanistan i hope you to be safe here and thanks for sharing this beautiful video goodluck bro ✌👌🇦🇫🇦🇫
The milk icecream is one of a kind, you should have tried it - highly recomended 🙂
He is vegan. Can’t have dairy
The translator is doing such a good job. And I loves your videos so much.
Thank you
Love and respect from iran.
Tashakur fellow farsiwan ❤
Thanks, we hazaras respect our iranian brothers, not the dirty pashtuns (aka taliban)
@@AA-no1wr Come on man... that was really uncalled for. I'm Hazara as well but there's no reason to hate each others.
@@neginaable oh shut up. After decades of innocent hazara bright young children, univeristy students, mothers, fathers getting murdered by these pashtuns, I hate them from the bottom of my heart. Ask any pashtun in afghanistan what they think about hazaras, negina. You'll see. We hazaras have been treated as second class citizens by pashtuns and now im returning the favor.
@@AA-no1wr Returning hate by hating? That's not gonna help our country in any way, shape or form. Use your education to bring positivity in Afghanistan.
Wow such a wonderful journey, Keep it up man! You're doing great. World travelling is not just travelling its about spreading love and connect to the world... That is one of my dreams.
Be careful and I pray and wish you all the best brother!

The closest thing to a "fair" representation of anything I've seen in years. A breath of fresh air from Afghanistan of all places. This indigo traveler guy, I like this guy. Good guy.
_Thank you for sharing your experience in Afghanistan.I can see the kindness through their eyes.,which make my heart 💔Peace and love to afghani ppl. Cheers from Kazakhstan_

I really enjoy your videos. They give an entirely different perspective of the countries you visit, it’s people and your interactions with them. I would prefer to watch your videos over what we are being feed by the news media.
Thank you for all that you do! Never would have known that this other world even existed in Afghanistan without these videos.

I’ve been so addicted to watching your videos lately! Love seeing different parts of the world. Thanks for another great video, can’t wait for the next!
A question i ask myself daily while tears dropping down my eyes, will there be a time when we will have a peaceful world? no wars, no discrimination, no conflicts just people living peacefully with one another. This will be the happiest days of our lives.Hoping and praying for that daily, really happy Nick you are a great ambassador championing towards that.
Thank you for the comment, the world is filled with great people and majority of the world and people's situations are positive, we just have a distorted view of reality because we take in too much information at all times from sometimes, one-sided sources.
@@IndigoTravellerwelcome, indeed and that is why we really appreciate people like you showing us both sides of the story keep up with the good work mate.
You have to remember that this war is about the differences in their religion when they stop caring about that then maybe something positive will happen
@@gi4dtv I'm not well informed about Afghanistan but i think it's a Muslim country, I think the wars are tribal.
Sadly governments, media, and corporations thrive on conflicts and fear. Nicks channel amongst others help defeat stereotypes but the world is crazy.
What I love about channels like this it shows what you see on the tv or read in the paper is true but they don’t show the positive sides of the places and the hospitality of the people there that welcoming and hope up there arms to new people and change
My favorite routine on sunday mornings: watch the newly uploaded video from Nick. All are great, but I find these on Afghanistan incredibly interesting.
Thanks so much 😍
alot of love from afghanistan thank u so much for showing such anamazing videos about my country to the world
We might have seen the future of Afghanistan sports! I wish to see the girl soon on international competetions... :)
Such an emotional series, really happy to donate and hoping for a better future for all the children of Afghanistan
Gotta say how much I love these videos... just stumbled upon the channel yesterday. I really like seeing a travel channel where the host is really just a vehicle to explore the lives of others in far flung places.
Have a safe Journy.
Love my country Afghanistan
So great to see the other side of Afghanistan , thanks Nick for the vlog - and greetings for a normal Afghanistan :)
